The food is pretty good. I haven't had anything that I didn't like. We come here every other month for a association luncheon and our server Andrew is always great! We always reserve a private section on the lower level which allows us to discuss our meeting topics freely without disturbing anyone else. We appreciate the private atmosphere.

Service was great. I ordered the Stuffed Rockfish is was ok . My wife ordered a burger and came almost raw. Been awhile since we been here and now know why.

Our dear friends invited to treat us to dinner at the Silver Spring Mining Company to try their Sour Beef and Dumplings. We met them at 4:00 PM for an early dinner, and because we wanted a quiet area to sit we ate in the bar. Surprisingly, it was very quiet. Amanda, our server, came right over and took our drink orders. She was upbeat, welcoming and friendly. Our friends said we should order the 1/2 portion of Sour Beef with the extra dumpling in place of the Cole slaw. So, that is what we all ordered. They were right - the Sour Beef and Dumplings were delicious. The sauce just had the right amount of tanginess, and the dumplings were dense and fluffy at the same time. Amanda's shift was over, and she kindly told us she would be leaving, and that Ryan would be taking over. Wow, what a difference in service! Amanda was at the top of her game, and Ryan could have cared less. When our host asked for the dessert menu, Ryan told him there was none and proceeded to tell him what the desserts were. Our friend said he saw a dessert menu on the main menu and asked him to go get the menu. Of course, the desserts are listed on the menu. Ryan said he knew that, but did not feel like walking back to get one for us to see. We were all flabbergasted - how lazy can one person be who just came on duty? We ordered the Oreo Brownie Sundae and the Rice Pudding. Both desserts were decadent. For as good as our beginning was, the ending was soured by Ryan.

I attend this location frequently but this is my first time trying it for restaurant week. Here are my thoughts: - The customer service from bartender Jason was phenomenal. He was our waiter while we sat at the booth in the bar area. He was fast, kind, extremely efficient, prepared, and attentive. I have no complaints. 5/5 for customer service. - My son's ribs were filling and large but a bit pricey. The broccoli was a little mushy but definitely seasoned. The fries had a good crunch but was only warm (not hot). Overall his meal was about 3.8/5 - I ordered the fried pickles, stuff shrimp with broccoli, and bread pudding. I used to love their fried pickles but now I don't. They changed the recipe and now serve them like a thin basket of fries. Previously, they were thick (like a spear) and served in a tall basket that stood up. The new formula and presentation used extremely thin, nearly shredded pickles. Again, the broccoli was mushy but seasoned. The stuffed shrimp was delicious but the portion was so small. It didn't feel like I got my money's worth for the restaurant deal. The bread pudding was really tasty but I wish I had ice cream to add to it. Anyway, I would rate that full meal as a 3.3/5 for portion and mushy veggies. - My spouse's meal was the boom boom shrimp, pork chops with mash potatoes & coleslaw, and black bottom cheesecake. The boom boom shrimp was very good but we did ask for ranch dipping sauce on the side. The pork chops were amazingly juicy. They came with an apple sauce for dipping but I didn't like the flavor combination. The coleslaw was decent. The black bottom cake was just ok. I'm glad it came with my meal because otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered that dessert. Overall, this meal was a 4.2/5 strictly for the mash and porkchop. - Wings were a to go order for someone else. They said the wings were good but wish they had a little more ranch dipping sauce. 4/5

I feel like with any chain restaurant like Silver Spring you have to go in with a certain expectation... If you're there to get cheap greasy bar food for happy hour (I mean this in the most lovingly way possible because that's what I got!) then it's great. If you're going in expecting a 5-star meal then you will be disappointed. After a work-out my friend and I ended up here for HH to completely undo everything we just did. We decided to split a crab pretzel and an appetizer sampler that came with wings, fried pickles, potato skins, and chicken tenders. There was more than enough food for both of us. We were there on a Friday night and they had a special for a $9 crab pretzel (I think that's about $4 off normal price) Drinks were cheap for HH too. Most domestic drafts were buy one get one for a penny as well as the margaritas. We paid about $6.50 each for two drinks each. Not bad! It was a nice place to catch up and eat some fried goodness. In their bar area they also had a fire going in the fireplace which was very cozy.

The restaurant is spacious, spotless, and has a welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for families, date nights, or large groups. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly, and our server, Talia, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. Now... let's talk about the food. We started with the hush puppies, which came out hot, fresh, and had the perfect hint of sweetness. They were a great way to kick off the meal. The fried green tomatoes almost stole the show. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and topped with sweet, tender jumbo lump crab meat....they were absolutely phenomenal and a must-order. The Conrad Soup was another standout. Rich, creamy, hearty, and packed with flavor. It tasted homemade in the best way possible. I also have to give a shoutout to the personal pitcher of sweet tea. As someone who appreciates good sweet tea, it's surprisingly hard to find one that's actually done right. Conrad's nailed it. But the undeniable star of the meal was the steamed blue crabs. I called ahead to reserve 12 large male crabs, which I highly recommend doing if you're planning a visit. Every single crab was perfectly steamed, generously seasoned, and absolutely loaded with sweet, tender meat. They were some of the best steamed crabs I've had in a long time. We purposely came early for lunch so we could take our time, and I'm so glad we did because this was an experience worth savoring. Conrad's exceeded every expectation I had. Between the outstanding service, incredible food, and relaxed atmosphere, I already know I'll be making the drive back. If you're a Maryland crab lover, this place deserves a spot at the top of your list. 10/10!! I'll definitely be back!

On the plus side my family enjoyed the ribs and crab balls. On the negative side, the fish in my fish and chips was painfully thin and small. Normally you get a nice chunky piece of fish when you get fish and chips. Not only that, l've never had fish and chips where the skin was on the fish. I left most of the skin behind, but ate some of it because the portion was so small. I had to eat something. Please have the chef look up what fish and chips is supposed to look like. Despite being the only server, our wait person was outstanding - it wasn't their fault that they had to handle the entire dining room. . Also appreciated the carafe of water on the table - but why no ice -had to drink lukewarm water. Make sure to ask for prices upfront and verify-for a single crabcake entrée, we paid $63 when it's advertised online as 30. Let the buyer beware.. I popped in to The Local with one of my friends for a much needed happy hour and we were both in consensus we had to come back to try some other menu items and specials. $7 for the house Sangria and a mule of the day, was a great start to the evening and quite tasty. We both dined on the burger and fries and enjoyed the dish. I would've like a bit of seasoning on the burger patties and maybe a cheddar or American cheese, but that's my personal preference. I asked for the black truffle aioli on the side and that was definitely the way to go to really be able to taste the black truffle. And might I say the aioli was delicious. Our waitress was great and very attentive. The Local offers different specials on various nights and even does live music on Friday nights. This is a great place on the Avenue to enjoy dishes made with ingredients from local businesses and enjoy a delicious meal.
