Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park

We spent 2025 Thanksgiving week at Boulderdash, and it was fantastic. Extremely well run RV…read morefacility, strong stable power at the pedestal, good water, and well kept grounds. Small, but perfect for us because it was not overrun with people in golf carts, 4 wheelers, etc. The owners, Lyn & Carol-anne, have their residence right next door, and are available for any issues or questions. And they delivered warm pumpkin bread loaves to all campers on Thanksgiving! They have built a great escape with this RV park. There is also a house, an apartment, and a renovated RV available for rent. Bandera is about 10-15 minutes away, if you have to "do something". Highly recommended. We will be back!

We arrived to find Carol-anne waiting for us, with a welcoming smile as big as Texas. She led us to…read moreour site and gave us a quick rundown of some of the park rules (trash, laundry, parking, etc). As others have said, there was a complimentary mason jar of deer corn on our picnic table and a printed sheet of park info. Lyn stopped by to say hello while we were setting up. He seems to always have something to keep him busy in the park...always on the go. They live up the hill, above the park, so they're close by if you need anything. There are two shower/restrooms: a converted horse trailer (so cool!) and the more traditional one that's part of the office building. The traditional one has a shower that is divine! Big and roomy, with real water pressure!!! The laundry is two/two deal, with each load costing a total of either $3 (your own laundry soap and dryer sheets) or $5 (their laundry soap and dryer sheets). The Wi-Fi is the best we've ever encountered! Never once were we knocked offline, no slow weak signal, we were able to stream as much as we wanted. It really was the best! This is a very small park and it feels more like you're hanging out in someone's backyard. Very cozy, very calm. Wildlife everywhere. We ended up buying 80 lbs of deer corn, strawberries, blueberries, cabbage, carrots, grapes and apples for the deer, as well as peanuts for the squirrel that lives in the knothole of the tree next to the deck. The wildlife was a big selling point in booking our stay here, and it did not disappoint: fawns, does, spikes, bucks, gray fox, raccoon, squirrels, cardinals, titmouses, doves and house finches were our visitors. I would imagine it's tough to get a reservation here during high season, but if you can, do it! You'll love it! (Word of caution...the last stretch of the drive here, maybe a quarter of a mile, is unmaintained gravel that requires a very slow crawl if you want to be kind to your rig. Take it slow and easy, and you'll be rewarded with a great stay at a lovely little gem of a park.)

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! They will not give you a refund under any circumstances. We were not…read moreinformed that there was no restroom nor showers in our room. Everything is community shared. Huge safety concern is the ceilings. It is a drop down ceiling and lifting up the ceiling tile in one room and give you access to the next. There are much better places to stay in bandera.

Outdoor bath, no microwave, no pool. Well appointed. Coffee pot missing lid in which moths nest…read more Got all but 1 out. Suspect he took a swim in my coffee (moth eaten lol) Step carefully, has 2 dangerous ones. Speaking of danger, the power is a snarled strip?.Oven broiler so filthy I put it outside and creamer dish awful. The community trash can under the trailer window reaked and was stuffed full as well. All is photoed, videoed, documented, reported and available upon request. A violent storm raged all night. The power went out. Car charged my phone for at least a flashlight. The trailer canopy fell across exit door trapping me in. I was not checked on during the night, rather, rescued in the morning. So, I could not use the restroom the whole of that time.. No apologies/concern offered. With all the mud,, a shower was not an option as the drain was clogged with bugs. The patio was drenched due to canopy failure. Owner didn't even offer to wipe the surfaces. So, I sat on the trailer stoop for the duration of my stay (I vacated a day early due to no shower in all this mud). OWNER LIVES ON PROPERTY AND KNEW THIS!!!! Under dire circumstances, and with but another night already paid for, I "graciously" offered to return a different eve, giving the owner an opportunity to clean up and fix things..when I really should have been offered refund/comp as a good business practice by "A Place to Stay Reservations", but thought to offer the owner an even better remedy in her favor instead. Owner absolutely did not care. Think twice before reserving this abode. Not $40-50.00 a night as advertised, by aplacetostay, a nearby Bandera Texas business. Bate & switched to $66.66. Must make own beds at arrival. Strip, transport bedding to laundry at departure? Don't we specifically pay premium price not to have to do this and all the other litany of clean up rules they have in place? Aren't we suppose to be on vacation??? I'm an easy-to-please, understated, happy-go-lucky, hardy country gal, and an author for a travel magazine (the reason for my stay) complaints kept coming in of people deserving refunds but not getting them. I, a senior staff, was sent to verify. This is, "A Place to Stay", as the name of the company implies, just NOT a good one.
