Sausage, avocado, spinach scramble with home fries
    Andrea D.

The food at silver spur is always fantastic. I had ordered the turkey avocado scramble and subbed the turkey for sausage. So good! Their home fries are my favorite! Big cuts of potato and onion and perfectly seasoned. I also ordered their homemade muffin and it was delicious. It was almost the consistency of a crescent roll but more firm. Not overly sweet either. I didn't care much for the chai latte. That may just be a personal preference though. The service is always great. The staff is super attentive and very kind to all of their customers. It can be a little bit of a struggle to get a table in the morning if it's busy but service is quick so it usually doesn't take very long to get a table when I've gone :) It's clean and kept well inside. I have never had an issue with cleanliness. It has a very homestyle vibe. I did hear that they may be moving to a new location in the future so this review is based on the Soquel location. Overall this spot is definitley worth stopping in at and trying the great food!

This was our first time here. The food is so good! I had the Mexican Omelet. I was hungry and forgot to take a picture but you can see my left over to-go box lol. Highly recommend! Alfredo was our nice server. He was helpful with making our choices and attentive. I'd definitely come here again when in the area!

I would lean 4.25 if I could. Great local spot I found. You can tell cause many of the customers were full on conversation mode, staff saying hi as they walk in first names, felt really good to see community like that. Greeted me right away, very kind and professional. Looks old school inside lol, but good vibes. Food was really good, their veggie scramble, let's just say it has veggie in the name lol. Great assortment and plenty of them. Hashbrowns were crispy maybe a tad over board but I do appreciate no salt so I could add my own amount. Salsa's were both fantastic. The mild great flavors, well done. The spicy one does has a kick but I'm also used to spicy food, plus great flavor. Overall great spot I will be back.

Potatoes could not even eat them... they just tasted like the oil was old...

Absolutely disgusting food then when I asked to take gravy plate off bill got super defensive waiter said I need to know why if I am taking it off the bill;this was when he came back to give final bill. Waiter said they have the best gravy;must not go to fine restaurants and the Canadian ham you should have asked for a half slice... WOW if you ask for feedback just listen;no need to make snide comments from establishment.

A cute brunch/diner spot in Santa Cruz! The interior is very rustic but kept super clean. All of the staff were so nice. They were able to accommodate for our big group and bring out our orders fast. The prices are similar to many other diners but if you pay with cash, you don't have to pay a surcharge. The portions are huge as well.

My grandparents have been coming here since the 1970s, bringing me since I was a little kid. I don't think I've had a meal that's disappointed once. The Watsonville location is great, but the charm of the original can't be beat. From the pancakes to the omelets to the sandwiches and Mexican food-- it's fantastic. Some of my favorites: the chorizo scramble, their biscuits with extra butter and jam, and their burger. All of the waitresses and bussers are so kind and happy to please as well. I can't wait to go back!

Theme is off, I like the old vibe but the paintings doesn't belong on the walls. Service was good, food was good.

Friendly & inviting staff. It's a small restaurant, but still cozy. All the food was really good, especially the Crab Benedict (daily special). Not pictured: English Muffin (large and dense) Chicken Tortilla soup (chicken chunks and fresh veggies) Sunday around 10:30 am. The place was full, with a 15-20 minute wait...well worth it.

A hidden gem in Capitola. Great service, fast and friendly people. My family and I love to visit when we are in town to visit our slug. The pancakes and Paul's potatoes are our favorite. Definitely recommend. Come early, always packed. Thank you! UCSC family

Expect to leave stuffed. I came here with 3 friends after running the Monterey Half Marathon. We shared an order of 4 pancakes (one per person) and each got our own dish. Pancake- large and fluffy. We got the special orange poppyseed pancakes and they were excellent. These are a must get. Western Omelette- I swapped the ham for sausage and to be honest the sausage was just okay. Maybe I should've switched to bacon? While the omelette was stuffed with onions, peppers, and sausage, the egg could've been seasoned more and the ingredients could've been incorporated better. Felt more like the omelette was created separately and the filling was sautéed and added afterwards. Hasbrowns- I got this as my side for my omelette. Was nice and crunchy, just wish they added more seasoning- adding some salt and peppers while cooking would go a long way. But I was able to season at the table and enjoyed Overall, a decent and filling breakfast. One friend got the country fried steak and another got the breakfast burrito. Both were incredibly full and very happy with their decisions. Ambiance was cute- had a rustic vibe that I liked. Service was a little slow (I had to ask a few times to get more water) but the waiters/waitresses were friendly. Note there is a ~4% fee if you use credit card so bring cash.

We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.

The food here is always fun, fresh, and consistently good. We shared the carnitas omelette with sourdough toast, and it was excellent--lots of flavor and a perfect start to the morning. We also had a couple of Irish coffees, and the homemade whipped cream definitely put them over the top. Another huge plus is the dog-friendly patio. Our little guy Milo was very happy to join us for breakfast--and maybe even happier when some bacon came his way. Great food, friendly vibe, efficient service, and a patio where we can bring the pup. Yelp Elite Review: Where the Coffee Is Bold & the Stories Are Even Better…read more Some restaurants serve breakfast. This place serves breakfast with a side of Santa Cruz history. This spot has been around for years, and when my boys were younger, we would come here after a day at the beach. It has gone through a few owners over the years, but the improvements they've made are awesome. The place still has that classic beach-town chill--lots of laughter, good food, and people enjoying life. Parking? Let's just say Santa Cruz and parking have never exactly been best friends. But once you get inside, you have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating, and it's worth the effort. One of my favorite things about this place is the history. For years, a group of local fishermen have been coming here. Two of them are still regulars, sitting around telling fish stories. And if you know fishermen, you know those stories have probably gotten a little bigger every year. My wife and I split the all-meat omelette, and it was delicious. They also do a fantastic job with the hash browns--crispy, hearty, and exactly what you want with breakfast. The coffee deserves its own paragraph. Bold, flavorful, and strong enough to make you believe you can conquer the day. Our server was wonderful. She has worked here since graduating from high school, and you could tell she genuinely cared about taking care of people. Friendly, positive, helpful, and the kind of service that makes you want to come back. There's a wonderful selection of food, but honestly, part of the experience is simply being there. You can almost feel the decades of stories in the walls--families, fishermen, beach days, laughter, and countless cups of coffee. This isn't just a place to grab breakfast. It's a place where Santa Cruz history is still being served--one omelette, one cup of coffee, and one slightly exaggerated fish story at a time. It has the feel of a classic upscale facility - you can easily imagine important meetings, Christmas dinner party's or birthday celebration happening at this location, and considering this restaurant has been around since 1969 they most likely happened here. It's more of a casual ambience - particularly at dinner and NO matter where you sit you get a great view of the beach harbor. Still the various halls, stair case and old framed photos and art that hang give you the feeling that you sit where those who made important business decisions once sat and I find that very interesting. The Crows Nest is well known, I ordered the New York Steak ($57) it's pricey, but I always eat a steak on my birthday so I definitely make it count! I don't have much to say about the bread and butter since I skipped it, but honestly it's relatively standard. They did however give me a free slice of pie with an oreo cookie crust filled with chocolate mousse for my birthday and I only ate half of it, shared the rest with everyone else, it was really good I typically don't eat desserts or cakes unless it's my birthday, other than that I stay away from it. Overall; it's an iconic place that still remains its old stature, and makes some quality food, for the record this was NOT my first time eating here. I really enjoyed my meal, so did everyone else in my party - thank you for the hospitality!

The hostess didn't seem particularly welcoming when we arrived, and after being seated, it took about 10 minutes before someone came over to take our order. Our waitress, Alex, was friendly and attentive once she came to our table, and she apologized for the initial delay. Our appetizer and our daughter's meal came out promptly. However, throughout the rest of our meal, service remained quite slow. We had to ask several times for water refills, and it often felt like other tables were receiving more attention than ours. That said, the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the calamari appetizer, prime rib sandwich, fish and chips, and the kids' grilled cheese with fries. Everything was tasty, and the entrée portions were much larger than we expected--definitely enough to take leftovers home. Overall, if you're looking for delicious food, generous portions, and a beautiful view, I would recommend giving the Crow's Nest a try. However, based on our experience, the service could use some improvement. Hopefully, our experience was just an off day, especially since the food itself was excellent.

The guy asked me to sit down at a table with him to explain portion sizes and the guy had slurred speech and an extremely strong smear of liquor radiating from him. Even though this guy was wasted today, it won't detour me from returning for the 5 star food flavors!
