Nelson was so rude then he went around his desk. His father planted his feet and stretched out his arms with the determination to stop Nelson from getting to me. Nelson used his fist to push against the wall; I slid down the wall and landed on the metal bench, bruised ankle, elbow and knee. Nelson told me about his mental illness previously with anger issues. No doubt. But hitting a disabled 63 yo. DANGEROUS MAN. Nelson is maybe 35. I am a disabled, elderly woman. I wanted my deposit back because the father and him act like they hate each other. then I went outside to call the police. Then the father stepped into the doorway and curled up his index finger motioning to come back inside. really. the father would call me and say the parts are ready. then the son said they we not. Hey, get help dudes. but rest assured you just may regret hitting this old lady. plus, Nelson called me every name in the book. Assault and Battery. don't go there. read more

Owner. (Nelson) is not professional at all. Came in on a Friday to discuss about a quote for repairs . He wasn't in, his dad told me I could wait or come back another time so I waited 30min for him to come in. After arriving we discussed and I told him what I wanted done with my car and he said he can do that. He Literally wasted 2hrs of my time to gather info about me and the insurance. I didn't think anything of it since I told him what I wasn't going through insurance and i only came in for a quote only. But what got me a bit suspicious was when he kept repeating his words/ questions that I already told him/answered several times. It's like he wasn't even listening to me. And was just showing off his car that he is getting insurance to pay for blah blah blah. After 2 hours go by and the store is closed by now. He told me he will have a quote for me by Sunday or Monday. Monday comes around and he calls me asking when I'll be bringing the car in and that the insurance has contacted him. I told him I only asked for a quote and insurance should have been contacted but he just gave me the run around and said if I didn't want to work with him then to find some where else. Tried blaming me saying that I contacted insurance and I shouldn't have gave out him info if I wasn't gonna work with him. Which I didn't even do anything. All I did was came in for a quote and wait for him to give me that said quote, but all I got was time wasted and dude collecting info for no reason. He might be on drugs since he said he could remember the interaction we had that day. Find a better shop that is more professional and that can remember their interactions with their new customer. My son (17) had a minor collision in a car park while reversing, he and another car rear ended each other causing damage to our bumper. So we sent him out to do the leg work on where to get a repair. He found Silver Body Auto and we are so glad he did. They could have tried to rip off a 17 year old getting his first repair quote, but no, they explained the pros, cons and the process to him and gave him a quote that was very fair and reasonable. They provided a written quote with the options clearly presented and said "we'll order the parts and be able to do it next Monday". Of course I'm skeptical, this work never happens when they say it will. Come Monday, they call to confirm we can bring the car in, my son drops it off and then they give him a lift back home. They said the car would be ready that same evening (within 4 hours). We got a call as promised saying the car was ready. Not only had they done an amazing job of replacing the bumper, the cracked tail light and sprayed to match, they had also cleaned the car inside and out and buffed out several minor scratches. The price was exactly as quoted and we were extremely happy with the service. Great job! We of course hope to never have to go again, but if we do have another collision, we'll definitely be back. read more

1. Ask yourself, why this place has no reviews for 2018 and only 4 for 2017...I didn't notice that when I decided to use them because of their great ratings. What a mistake. Many reviews are really old! 2. Joe quoted $2500 to have the back bumper and broken tail light repaired but when I went back to accept the quote the price jumped to $4500. The red flag should have gone up but I accepted the excuse that my car was only 10 months old and the parts were not available second hand. 3. I was quoted 4 days to do the job. When my car had been there for 7 days I went in to see what was happening.....it had not been touched. I had been without a car for 7 days and nothing had been done. Again the red flag should have gone up but Camillo, the owner seemed very nice and apologetic so I gave him another chance. 4. Seven days later I got a call from Joe, the office guy, to say pick the car up at 7pm as it was just getting detailed. Great, I go there and it doesn't even have the bumper attached so obviously there was no pick up that night. 5. Five days later I get my car.... my car had been at Silver Star for a total of 19 days not the quoted 4 days. After inspecting the repair, I told Joe that I was not happy with the job and showed him many dust spots, a dribble and a ripple section in the paint. He told me to talk to Camillo as he would agree to repaint the bumper bar. 6. Before I had a chance to have the job redone 2 bubbles developed around dust spots and the clear coat started to peel along a join. Camillo totally agreed that the bumper needed to be repainted and he guaranteed a good job. 7.Five days go by, I had not heard a thing so I call and am told that my car will be ready 6pm that day. I ask Joe, the office guy, to call me back later in the day to confirm, which he did at 4:30pm... pickup at 6pm after it was detailed. I go at 7:30pm, the car does not have the bumper on, again! 8.Camillo, tells me it will be ready 10am the next day. I show up at 7pm and the bumper is not on the car for the 3rd time. The paint job wasn't even dry. I honestly thought I was being punked! It must be a TV show. 9. Three days later my car was ready. Paint job was good...how it should have been first time round. Detailing was great. My car looked like new.... BUT the rear sensors don't work. They have been painted over and the paint has partially been scraped off. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SILVER STAR AUTO BODY not even to have the sensors repaired. I will pay to have the sensors properly repaired some where else rather that go back. Camilio was always apologetic but they had my car a total of 28 days for a job that was originally quoted 4 days and $2500. read more

On March 28th, I got into my first car accident and rear ended someone. The damage was pretty bad, and when I went to multiple body shop's to get their estimates on my car, I almost felt like crying because I'm only 17, I can't afford $2,000 of body work on my car, in fact I can't afford anything worth $2,000! When I found out I don't have collision insurance on my car, it was frustrating trying to find a price I could handle paying out of my own pocket. My friend recommended Silver Star Auto Body, and after reading their great Yelp reviews, I thought going in for an estimate wouldn't hurt. When I got there, I was greeted by Nelson (super nice) and his sweet daughter. He checked out my car, worked out a price that was unbelievably reasonable, and told me my car would look brand new! After this "too good to be true" offer, I agreed and he took my car in on Tuesday, and had it done by Friday, which was great because I have school and work next week! To top it off, when I went to go pick up my car, it looked better than it did before the accident, plus his crew washed my car and detailed it inside & out. Talk about exceeding my expectations! If you're looking for a shop that will do quality body work at an affordable price, this is the place to go! EXCELLENT! Camillo Barberena has owned the shop for close to 40 years. He is an honest businessman, and THE GUY to see! After an accident, my insurance provider was ready to write a big check for the work needed on my very new car (8 months new). Camillo spent a bunch of time tearing down the vehicle in detail. He found enough wrong that the car is now being totaled. So, instead of getting all the $$ for the bodywork, he told the insurance company that it wasn't worth it, and they should total the car. That's what I call HONEST BUSINESS . The insurance people were pretty surprised, and told me how unusual that is. I am so grateful that I took the car to the right place. I backed up my BMW SUV into a cement post. My fault all the way. Arrrg! I could have called my insurance company buy they would have probably dinged me for it. I knew it was better for me to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket. Next, finding a reputable body shop that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg for the work. I called a few of them around San Mateo, but when I met with Camilio, I knew I had found the right shop. Camilio was extremely accommodating. He kept my car while I was out of town. When I came back the work was done...abd done really well. And the price was extremely competitive...and probably a bit below what others wanted. I took my vehicle to have it painted, they had it for almost 3 weeks, when I went to pick it up the brake light was on, the owner told me nothing was wrong that it was a sensor. When I picked up my husband he checked it out and noticed they had cut the cable. My husband took the vehicle to our mechanic the next day, he told my husband that we should not be driving it like that because we can mess up the whole brake system. When my husband contacted the owner he said he told me not to drive it. Well he never told me not drive it, if he had why did I pick it up? Why did he let it leave his shop? Now we have to pay our mechanic since he does not want to be responsible for what he/employees did. Horrible service and all this because we paid cash, I guess if you want to have an ok service you should have your insurance pay that way they don't feel like they are doing you any favors read more

I actually started coming here to fix the jobs of other garages that are "cheap". They always do an amazing job no matter how big or how small. I got in a car accident recently and my car needed a lot of body work. I am a student and they worked out a price i could afford. When i got my car back all my friends said it looked better than before and like i got a new car. I have a friend who is a mechanic and he originally refereed this place to me years ago although he's never worked here. They have a nice office with awards and plaques on the wall. They did a fantastic job repairing my Honda Pilot that had a dent in the rear passenger door and the panel and molding next to the tire. They also buffed and repainted the front passenger door handle which took the brunt of getting hit by doors from other cars parked next to me over the years. The paint job and smooth finish is impeccable and the crew even detailed the interior. The Pilot looks completely brand new! Even in the sun you can't tell that the Pilot was ever damaged. Camilo is accurate and true to his estimates. When you meet him you can tell he is a man you can trust. He takes great pride and has integrity in doing excellent work and delivering outstanding customer service. I signed up on yelp specifically to review this body shop... I am saying, with high confidence, it is horrible. General advice: do not send your car there if it is worth more than 2-3 K. This will ruin the car, and you might have to fix there work at another body shop. Pros: Cheap. Cons: Gave me an unfinished job, and I had to wait until he finished the paint, which costs another day rent. Even when he did, he did not remove the door handle to finish it. Hence, the painting is so granular around the handle. Will definitely look for another place to fix my $30k car. As a general advice, look how nice the cars are in the body shop before you send your car there. If they are old cars, do not send your car there. read more

Silver Star is the best! I had them replace a side mirror that I had accidentally wiped off. When I initially came in, with my left side mirror hanging, Nelson considerately glued it temporarily in place so that I would have a functional car (at no cost). As my work load was very heavy, many weeks passed before I was able to come in again so that he could put the new mirror on. When I came in, he installed the new mirror in less than half an hour, then asked if I could wait a little longer while he had my car washed and detailed! He also checked the side mirror control knob and could tell that the internal plastic mount was starting to go, and fixed it as best he could. All this at no additional cost. This is service to the max! I would highly recommend Silver Star. read more

When Geico considered my 2000 BMW a total loss, I was shattered. The measly money they gave me to settle it wouldn't go very far, and since the front end damage was all cosmetic, I'm glad my regular BMW mechanic referred me to Silver Star. Their work was impeccable, and less than half the figure Geico had quoted. They used recycled parts, which was fine with me, and their service included fixing all the dings around the whole car! To make it even better, they detailed my car inside and out. Man, oh, man, what a gorgeous job they did. Took about 10 days, but it was well worth the wait.
