First off, where do I start? They took well over 3 months to finish my car and they did a horrible job. I remember watching some guy who didn't speak any English try to put my headlight in upside down when I was visiting one day to see what was taking them so long. More than half of the screws and bolts holding some body panels were missing and the paint started to chip less than six months later. There was overspray and numerous runs in the paint. It looked like they just sprayed over old paint and did not even bother to do any prep work on the body. When I brought this to their attention they just gave me attitude and acted like it was my fault they did such a bad job. If you value your car and your money, stay far away from this horrid, awful place. I had to take my car to different shop to have all of their bad work re-done. My car looks perfect now. read more

I saw examples of Rod's work at some Bay Area car shows over the previous couple years and had made up my mind that he was who I wanted performing the bodywork/repaint on my '69 Datsun Roadster. If you like your car do not come here. When I brought my truck back because of the shoddy work, Rod started arguing with me until I started walking around the truck and showed him all the mistakes he made. I am now having further work done at a shop that actually knows what they are doing and my new guy showed me the dents that Rod missed, the sand marks in the paint, where Rod neglected to weld my new rear bed panel. The insurance company paid Rod over $11K for the work. Now I have to pay to have all of Rod's shoddy work fixed. read more

Rod and Kiley at Rod'z Body Shop are the epitome of going above and beyond the customers expectations. I brought my BMW to Rod'z to get a front bumper and side skirts painted along with a fiberglass rear bumper to custom fit, install and paint. Rod quoted me hundreds less then any other body shops that I went to so I was honestly skeptical about the quality of work, but I'm 100 PERCENT HAPPY to say I was wrong. People tend to commensurate the price of service to the quality of work, but Rod'z shop is an exception as the prices are very fair and the craftsmanship, paint quality, and degree of detail this man pays to your car are phenomenal. Rod went above and beyond to do three or four additional extra steps that were not previously agreed upon before I brought my car in. Other shops would just tally that on to your tab and charge extra, but not Rod. He is the meaning of honor, quality and top notch work at a reasonable cost. I managed to ruin my own bumper during the install after Rod gave it to me in perfect form, but low and behold I was delighted when he told me to bring it back free of charge for a re-do! I was referred here by two of my coworkers who are previous customers after my car was hit by someone. They're a small family ran business and super friendly. They kept me up to date at every stage with phones calls and emails. It was also super great that enterprise rental is in walking distance, I believe about .2 miles away - super convenient! One of the best parts of an otherwise inconvenient situation of having my car in a shop was when I picked up my car they had cleaned it so well it looked like I took it to a professional detailer! Both my parents said it looks brand new and I feel like I fell in love with my car all over again! Last but not least, when I called in to see if they could do a routine 30K maintenance on my car they had called a neighborhood shop who specializes in this and had my car picked up within an hour to get serviced. Even though I didn't end up needing the service that just shows how accommodating they are. There is nothing better than supporting your local family businesses and getting great service! read more

I took my 2008 Corvette Z06 to Rodz Body Shop. First off all the cars they work on are amazing so I was not worried at all I probably had the cheapest car in there. I gave it to them on a Monday and they had my little fender bender repaired by Thursday super quick and professional. It honestly looks better than when I bought the car. I do not trust anyone with this car because of the way it is and what its built out of but these guys did an awesome job. Professional and speedy as well as honest. Sorry it took so long to post this review guys! Okay here's the story... Last thanksgiving I am driving down El Camino in Burlingame when out of nowhere this unlicensed driver comes flying backwards out of a driveway and hits my car! Nooo, not my baby! Anywho, thankfully it was a company truck so he had insurance. This was a first for me, so I had no idea what to do or where to go until a friend of my recommended me to Rod & Kiley. I was told they were super-honest, and ultra-cool. Well upon arrival, they were all that and a bag of chips! Not only were they upfront and honest, but they were also very kind in asking how I was, and if I was suffering from the accident. I immediately wanted to go shopping with Kiley, baby sit her kids, and hug Rod like i would my own brother, yeah they are that nice. Okay, enough mushy stuff... So obviously I had them work on my car, and they did a fantastic job. All the body parts and paint were back on looks just like new. Okay, now for Part Two of my novel. So It's now new years morning 2012 and once again I am in Burlingame driving along when yet another truck hits hits me! This time the guy ran a stop sign. you MEN really can't drive for #%$! Growing up in Detroit surrounded by hot rods, dream cruises, classic cards and working on cars, I am always hesitant about taking any of my cars anywhere, particularly my 1963 Ford that I restored with my (former body shop owner) neighbor. I had a nasty encounter between from front air dam and a re-bar sticking up from a parking stopper. These guys came up with a fix that worked, no visual or performance difference and the total cost was probably as much as parts from the dealer would've cost. Mark's Body Shop in San Carlos is a definite gem. From start to finish, they made the process of having to get your car fixed as easy and painless as possible. They maintained excellent communication to make sure I was in the loop the entire time and even provided me with various options to repair my car with cost in mind. They worked with the insurance company and made sure I was taken cared of. They made their recommendations to the insurance company and didn't back down when the insurance company tried to play a little hardball. They arranged for the rent-a-car to pick up and drop off from their shop so I didn't have to worry about finding rides to and from all ends of town. When I picked up my car, it looked better than when I first bought it!!! Both inside and outside were detailed and the repair looked like nothing had ever happened to it. They definitely do professional work and they do their best to make it painless for the customer. To top it off, they're an independent, family owned and operated shop. In this world of cookie-cutter companies and starbucks taking over the planet, I'd rather support my local shop. So far only went here for an dent/scratch estimate. Found this place on yelp and it was close to my workplace. I went there in the morning and someone immediately came to help me. I needed an estimate cause someone messed up my door. The person (Kiley?) took down my name, cell, and email and said the estimate would be ready by 1pm. And what do you know? It was ready before 1pm. Don't know if I can use them since it depends on insurance but so far so good. Estimate was reasonable (around what I expected). read more

Absolutely fantastic experience with Kiley & Rod. Very professional, very easy to work with, to say the least and they set fair and accurate expectations for work. If you drive a classic, over 30 years old, with known constant issues, such as seam rust, this is your shop. I was recommended by Eric at 50/50 next door, another fantastic shop, and when you walk in you can quickly get a feeling for the decency of these people, feeling turned out to be 100% correct.. As for Rod's experience, that becomes immediately apparent. They do not up sell you, and that is an excellent business practice as you will obviously go back as the trust is in place. I asked Rod to look at my rear deck lick of a van and rust. He said, just keep using until it is a point of no return, the cost of working on it is not worth it. Just get a new lid and we'll paint it, works out to be half the cost. Thank you for the great work, help, and having my van back to me exactly when you said and even waiting. It simply does not get any better than this. I first dealt with Rodz when my Mini Cooper got rear ended. The service was fast, the results were flawless, and the staff utterly courteous. A special shout out to Kiley for guiding me thru the insurance process far better than the insurance people themselves. That one experience alone garnered them my 5 Star rating. But where a business REALLY shines is if they can consistently be that good. My new car had a reflector knocked into the bumper by another (seriously folks, STOP HITTING MY CAR!!! Lol). Wife and I stopped in and Rodz determined it was a quick fix. Took the fifteen mins out of their busy schedule to pull it in, open the space up, and remount that reflector. I can't think of any other auto shop that would've stepped up for an on-the-spot repair job - the continued friendly nature of the staff was a sweet bonus. My teen got into a small accident and damaged the back right side of her 2015 Toyota Rav4. I received several other estimates (including from Dentless Paint Removal (DPR) guys), and either the person gave a high estimate or stated that they couldn't guarantee the complete removal of the dent (they estimated 80% removal). Rodz Body Shop was different. Rod and Kiley figured out quickly that we didn't want to pay a lot nor have this to go through insurance (if the cost was too high, we were willing to leave the dent there). They came up with a very cost economical estimate (they have teens of their own and know the predicament that parents are in) while still doing a great job. They were able to repair the damaged area instead of replacing it with new parts (which I think is why this was so much more economical than some other guys). When the car was returned, we couldn't tell that there was ever a dent in the car. In addition, their quoted price was much less than the other guys. The next time I have body issues (whether or not I go through insurance), I'll be sure to include Rodz's in the process. read more

Rene' H. My son damaged his work truck. After buying all the body parts, I discovered that the frame was bent. Every other body shop required that I send back all the purchased body parts and do the complete job. Rod fixed the bent frame, painted the new hood and fender that I purchased and installed the hood and fender and allowed me to install the bumper. If you like mom & pop shops and believe in hardworking super nice people who do awesome body work with great personal service, then you are absolutely going to LOVE Rodz! If you are into corporate large chain cookie cutter type places then maybe its time to change your outlook or pick a different place. We brought our Mini Cooper in for an insurance claim on the front end and an out of pocket claim on the rear to have them both done simultaneously. Kiley handled all the paperwork with the insurance company and even got our rental car extended when a distributor send the wrong part. They added some very cool custom upgrades on the paint and by and far exceeded our expectations! All thumbs up. Great people and awesome job done. I have been going to Rodz Body Shop (formerly Mark's Auto Body) since Rod and his wife first purchased the shop around 2006. I had been a long-time customer of the previous owner, Mark, and decided to give Rod a chance. If you want to do business with honest, hard-working, family-oriented, and old-school people, this is the auto body repair shop for you. While the shop uses modern equipment and auto body techniques to do wonderful work on classic car restorations, insurance claims, and custom painting, I always feel like I've gone back in time when entering the shop. The building and office may not have the gimmicks of large-scale auto body repair shops, but I never go there to eat free snacks and drink free coffee, although I'm sure Rod or his wife Kylie would be happy to grab me some if I asked. The staff takes the time to greet you, the classic American, European, and Asian cars being modified and restored reminds me of a shop from the 1960s, and the general character of Rod and Kylie says much about their business. They are the kind of shop that I imagine boys riding a bicycle could stop in at and have their chain tightened with no argument from Rod and without having to sign a release of liability form or the kind of shop parents can bring their child's Radio Flyer wagon into for a new paintjob. This being said, the $500,000 1956 Porsche Carrera being restored in the corner or the 1955 Chevy coupe being hot-rodded in another stall proves that this shop is a trusted establishment amongst car enthusiasts. At the same time, the newer Toyota Prius, Kia Optima, BMW 5-series, and Ford F250 construction truck being repaired shows the quality of work they do for everyday people in need of automotive repairs from body damage, window regulators, wiring, tool-box locks/latches, to a new serpentine belt. To top it all off, their hourly rates are extremely competitive for the area, and they do not gouge you on markup for new and used parts. The times I've paid out of pocket, they always informed me of cheaper yet quality alternatives such as used or aftermarket parts, but they have never tried to sell me a garbage alternative just to make money. I think their willingness to work with customers' budgets, their honesty, and their superior workmanship says much about them as a wonderful business and standup people. Rod just fixed up my Karmann Ghia. It had a nasty dent that had been "bondo fixed" and a few more dents that needed attention. They did a great job - very professional, stripped it all down to the metal, beat the metal to the right shape, did some welding then sprayed it all up again.....the whole of the front of the car ..... for a great price (about 40% of what I was quoted elsewhere). I am so proud of driving my car now ... thanks guys for a job well done. They seem to specialize in older, more classic cars - they had a jenson and some american muscle cars in the back. read more
