Avoid Autobahn Collision Center…read more After damaging the charging port door on our EQS 450, we called Autobahn Motors (where we bought the car) for a recommendation. They sent us to their affiliated body shop, which quoted us about $850. We did our homework and also got a quote from Alioto's Garage in San Mateo, which was slightly lower. Still, out of loyalty, we went with Autobahn. Big mistake. About an hour after dropping off the car, they called and doubled the price to ~$1,700, claiming the EV required significantly more labor. That's something they should have known--and disclosed--before giving an estimate. Instead, it came after they had the car in their possession. That's not a revision. That's a bait-and-switch. We immediately picked up the car and took it to Alioto's. They completed the repair perfectly at their original quoted price--no drama, no excuses, no last-minute surprises. It's hard not to feel like Autobahn Collision Center leans on dealership referrals to get customers in the door, then inflates pricing when the customer is paying out of pocket. Save yourself the time and aggravation. Go elsewhere.

I was not looking for a total restoration of my bumper; I just wanted a new headlight installed and the bumper straightened out a little. ABT was the only place that gave me an affordable quote and was willing to come to my house to do the work. I went online and purchased the new headlight as it was way cheaper than buying from Toyota. (I only ordered one headlight kit, but I received two!) ABT actually came out a day earlier than we had originally planned on. Francisco did a GREAT job replacing both of my headlights (so they match...I was worried one would be shiny and the other dull yellow). The bumper looks pretty darn good...much better than I was expecting. My car is old so I would have been happy to duct tape it back together...LOL. They kept in touch via text to let me know when they would arrive. They charged me exactly what they originally quoted even though I had the extra headlight. They completed the work in 90 minutes. Francisco was super nice and polite. I couldn't be more pleased! I highly recommend ABT if you need body work done on your car and would like someone come to you to do the work.

I remember watching some guy who didn't speak any English try to put my headlight in upside down when I was visiting one day to see what was taking them so long. More than half of the screws and bolts holding some body panels were missing and the paint started to chip less than six months later. There was overspray and numerous runs in the paint. It looked like they just sprayed over old paint and did not even bother to do any prep work on the body. When I brought this to their attention they just gave me attitude and acted like it was my fault they did such a bad job. If you value your car and your money, stay far away from this horrid, awful place. I had to take my car to different shop to have all of their bad work re-done. My car looks perfect now.

Bottom line: I love my 1988 Land Cruiser FJ-62. And after a complete, ground-up restoration I realized Chris Zammit and his team of great guys and wonderful craftsmen at Summit Auto Body in San Carlos loved it as much as I did. Chris and Tavo and Randy and Gloria and the rest of the crew made my truck better than the original and breathed life into a truck I now consider as much theirs as mine! They stuck to the estimate and included me in every step of the process. Far and away the best experience I have ever had with any shop owner of any kind. Summit gets my highest respect and recommendation. If you care about your car, whether a dent repair or full restoration you cannot get a better result or have a better experience than going with Chris and Summit Auto Body. The Details The FJ-62 is regarded by off-road aficionados as the last of the real Land Cruisers in the US. But when mine started to see the wear and tear of 26 years I decided to find someone to restore it from the ground up. I read all the positive the reviews on Yelp and went Summit Auto Body. I asked around and every mechanic and auto body shop owner that I asked praised and recommended Chris and his team. I brought it in, Chris looked it over, did an extensive inspection, and sat me down for a talk. He wanted to get to know me! Chris went out of his way to prepare me for what it would take to restore my cruiser the right way. This is what makes Summit and Chris special. He explained everything, gave me an estimate, included me in every step of the process and always provided me with his advice while respecting my opinion. He always gave me options and never suggested what was unnecessary or frivolous. They stripped it down to bare bones. Chris handled all the logistics of working with the upholsterer, the sand blasting and powder coating. And when two other shops in town couldn't get the lift kit right, Chris and Randy made it right going way beyond the call of duty. And the body work, final paint and finishing? Unbelievable! Tavo and his body team fixed rust problems, fabricated door parts and went so far as to powder coat parts unseen and detail every nook and cranny, just to add that special love that only a real "car guy" has. My Cruiser came out exceptional. I could not be more proud. The paint job is like glass. The finish is so fine. It's a 26 year old truck that looks better than brand new. The first day on the road I was offered $40 grand for it on the spot!! No way! My baby is perfection and Chris Zammit is responsible. Not only did I get a great truck out of the deal but I made a friend as well. Work with Chris and you will not find a more generous, honest, true craftsman to do business with. Would I do it again? First Of all I would like to thank Chris and everyone @ Summit for making this a good experience, Especially Thank You Chris, for ALL your help and the good work done. Now the review, I drive a custom van conversion. I also have some severe physical limitations so getting around is not easy. However despite that I literally went to or called every body shop, in Marin, Sonoma, and Lake counties. I even contacted Tap plastics, and RV dealers to get my fender flair fixed or replaced. NO One..NOT one shop would or could help me. Some would not even give me the time of day...others said No sorry can't help you, or they said, oh that is to old I can't find that, or I cannot fix that it is not fiberglass, Blah Blah blah Blah Blah...Blah Blah....What a bunch of crap. This went on for nearly 9 months. Then I saw Chris on Best of the Bay, I contacted him,I told him my dilemma...He said I think I can fix that, let me take a look at it. Knowing traveling is not easy for me, Chris said take some pics and UPS the broken piece to me and I will see what I can do. And you know what HE DID IT! No problem! And ya know why? Because he cares. He is old skool. He cares about his business and he cares about his customers. He runs a REAL auto body repair shop too. Not a part swapping center. He took a pretty mangled irreplaceable fender flair and not only fixed it but made my van look good as new. He did NOT charge me an arm and a leg either. The whole job with painting and mounting was under $400. Unheard of these days for REAL quality workmanship. Chris also went above and beyond the call, He made sure all the work could be done in 1 day so I would not have to make multiple trips. Oh and He detailed my van to so it was sparkling clean and shiny when I left. So Again Thank you Chris and I would recommend Summit Auto body and paint to Anyone! read more

Two years ago I needed work done on both my vehicles, namely a 12 year old Honda Pilot and a 14 year old Toyota Camry. My mechanic recommended Summit Auto Body in Belmont and I'm glad he recommended them. Summit did an excellent job repairing and detailing both cars at a very fair price. Now two years later my Camry developed a water leak by allowing rainwater to puddle on the floor of the passenger's front side. And if you know anything about water leaks, they are sometimes very hard to find. I know mine was. Summit worked on the problem and initially thought they fixed the leak. Unfortunately after it rained again the puddle was back on the floor on the front passenger's side. Chris Zammit, the owner, said bring it back in and we'll fix it and make it right and after several iterations they finally found where the car was leaking and fixed it. Summit lost money on me but that wasn't important to Chris. What was important was my satisfaction and a dry car. Thank you Chris Zammit and Summit Auto Body personnel. Excellent job on a most difficult problem from a very satisfied customer. I highly recommend Summit Auto Body for any auto repairs or detailing work. read more

Six months ago I was hit by a wheel that fell off a trailer. I went to Summit Auto Body for repair. Chris was very accommodating. He dealt completely with the insurance company. My car repair was excellent. It was fixed beautifully and you couldn't tell that anything ever happened to it. Last week I discovered that my passenger door lock didn't work. I took it to Lexus thinking it was a setting and was told it would cost $250 to diagnose the problem. I went back to Summit Auto Body and asked Chris about the door lock. After he reviewed my bill from six months earlier, Chris said he would take care of it. Chris fixed the problem while I waited. While I was there my car was washed. Love Summit Auto Body. I have an 81 Fiat Spider that was hit in a parking lot. It folded in my front passenger quarter panel. Up until this accident I have done all of my own mechanic and auto body work for 10 years on a classic car, truck and motorcycles. It didn't feel good having to go to a shop/ After calling numerous auto body shops and being told they don't work on classics, Summit was the first to say they'll do it. Summit Auto Body is by far the best shop I have used in the 16 years that I live in the United States. I came in with a $ 879.00 quote from another body shop, basically to repaint a bumper with a few deep indentations. Summit did it for almost half of that and on top was incredible easy to work with. Summit also has excellent service: Chris dropped me at my house more than 5 miles away and also picked me up. That is a one hour commitment right there, which Summit does for all clients that need it. The repair work is flawless and the car came back cleaner than I could ever expect. I recently had an ugly dent in a very hard to fix place on a Lexus RC350. Along the roof line where there is a crease in the metal. I was skeptical that it could look like new again, but these folks proved my doubts unwarranted. You cannot tell that anything was ever in need of repair. After we got the car back, the newly replaced bumper looked exactly like the old and the paint blended in seamlessly. More recently, we scraped the side of the Infiniti car backing out of a garage and the two of the panels had a lot of paint and scratches. Of course, we called up Redwood City Auto Body again and this time we got the owner, Alex, who was super friendly and almost offended he didn't remember me from last time. (That was because we hadn't actually met before.) He suggested that we bring the car for an assessment. Afterwards, he said to bring it in again for the day and they would clean it up free of charge (polish etc) to see if it really needed any major repair. At the end of the day, the car was almost back to new and we were very happy with the outcome. Alex is the best, just goes the extra mile for people, and doesn't want anything back for these small acts of kindness!!

He stuck with the amount of the estimate for the repairs which I considered to be very fair. The work done was first rate. I received information about Auto Masters from another small business owner in Belmont who stated…read morehe uses them. I was looking for body work on my 2000 Toyota. I called to set up a time for an estimate. I pulled into their driveway which was very busy and the owner George greeted me almost immediately. He took a quick look at the car for damage and assured me he could do the work and informed me he would need to take a few days to get parts and then he would call with estimate. A week later he called and his price was competitive so I dropped car off. Approx a week later George called me to pick up my car. When I arrived he walked around the car with me showed me all work and I have to say it looks fantastic. I am very happy. We also discussed replacing my rear deck lid hatch. He is looking for one now. I recommend you stop by here and ask for George.
