Took my '16 Forester to 5 shops to get an estimate to "fix" the slight steering wobble. Received 4 quotes of up to $9k to repair issues other than the wobble. Kent came out and greeted me and asked what was going on with my Subaru. I explained that I was hearing a squeak when going over bumps. He pulled it into the bay and figure out the problem within 10 minutes and came into the waiting area and gave me an estimate and number of hours to repair. Silverstar: An independent Subaru [ASE certified] repair shop, serving the Denver Metro area for 20 years. This business is located off the intersection of South Parker Road and Quincy Avenue, hidden away towards the back and around the dead-end. If you are like me, a Subaru owner who likes to maintain their vehicle running at best possible condition for mechanical functionability...this business is my favorite option. This business has been operating at that very location for years, making this a well established, independently owned Subaru specialty repair shop. The staff's great with answering the phone within the first three rings and are very knowledgeable, act professional and communicate effectively to provide initial price quote in a timely manner. I especially appreciate the sheer affordability when compared to Subaru service at local dealership(s). They, just like the local dealership are experts with maintaining and providing optimal car care. Just recently, I was having an issue of having to replace the front driver's side CV axel due to it leaking oil and normal wear and tear of this used car. Scheduler gave me the option to take in the car that very day before closing shop or have the choice to drop it off later that week. They were flexible with squeezing me in same day on top of already full, booked work orders from other customers. Silverstar had the part already and keeps in-stock Subaru parts (new and previously used) regularly. After two hours exactly, my car was ready to be returned to me with an even cheaper cost of parts and labor than original price quote. This is just the reason why I have used Silverstar for my older model Subaru to take if in need of servicing. I have taken my car to this business for years and am a very satisfied customer. You just get the reassured, "peace of mind" feeling after looking at their "Wall of Fame" awards, certificates of recognition and have always liked their dependability. Great work BUT the person that assisted me was very condescending. Telling me i don't know how to research and that I can get 40 different answers for 1 issue. Well hey, don't be mad at me for peoples misinformation. Other than a persons attitude. They were knowledgeable and advised me of what was needed and all that. I am not some generic person from the street, I do know what I talk about and wanted to discuss different methods and scenarios and he would just not seem like he wanted to because he probably already labeled me as someone that wont understand. Which is completely wrong. Just give me the information and keep those personal comments to yourself. I like to do some of my own car work and i understand how some mechanics can label these people and that's fine. But A Subaru only shop like this one should encourage people to work on their own cars, not condescend them about it. Going to give this place another try in a few weeks as i need some more work done. read more

I went in based on their good reviews, big mistake. On the oil leak gasket/seal fixes, they missed diagnosing the fairly costly top gasket while sealing other less important ones, car still leaks badly; did not put the $200+ plastic engine cover back on the bottom of the car, later admitted they put it on a someone else's car (no reimbursement or replacement given); diagnosed a faulty radio, $900 part plus labor, which I did not have them fix - good thing, turned out it was a broken 4 inch piece of wire to power the antenna booster - which turns out to be common on that year's Outback. These guys will shoot you straight with no bs. They ultimately couldn't do the repairs my wife's car needed due to needing a special computer only subaru dealers have. They didn't even charge for diagnosis, even though they spent about 2 hours looking at it. read more

We all know how hard it is to find a reputable and trustworthy mechanic. I have found that with Silver Star Automotive. Not only are they fast, friendly and knowledgeable, but they are fair. Having taken my Subaru to a non-Subaru mechanic once before, being charged for repairs that did't actually get fixed, I brought it here and had it fixed right. I will never go anywhere else again. I've tried a few other Subaru places, and by far, this place is the best in town. I now own 2 Subaru's mostly because I know I can trust Silver Star to repair them and maintain them properly. read more

Pick these guys! After a negative experience getting my Subaru serviced at the dealership, I decided to try and find a reputable alternative. The Yelp reviews for Silver Star, and proximity to my house made me pick them, and I'm extremely glad I did. I emailed them on Saturday, got a response Monday, and a next day appointment on Tuesday. Admittedly, I was a little "sketched out" as a single female going through a gravel lot to this far back building on the property, with a fleet of broken down and damaged Subarus along the perimeter, but I put on my "I'm stronger than I look" attitude and walked in. I was immediately greeted by Kent and my trepidation from the outside immediately relaxed. I knew I was in the right place. He quoted me 30-45 minutes and, wouldn't you know, that's exactly how long it took (unlike my full day drama at the dealership....). And they are immediately next door to a pedestrian entrance for Cherry Creek State Park so I went on a lovely walk for that time. Next time I need an oil change or work on the car I will absolutely be back, and I will bring my exercise clothes and the dog. I'm actually looking forward to my next car service appointment- how often do you hear that?? And the price was fair and lower than the dealership or other chain oil-change locations. 100% recommended! read more

I thought they were awful and would never go there again. I had a used subaru I just bought and needed help with an issue. They charged me $100 to diagnose the problem and then gave me an outrageous quote. The most expensive of the 8 other places I called. When I finally took my car to a less expensive shop, they said that was never the issue. When asked silver star about how they came to that problem they said that everything else was OK and so it had to be. But they never actually even looked at it. Turns out the problem was a simple easy fix that they said was fine even though it was a pretty clear issue. The new mechanic had no problem showing me. Having a temp tag with a new to me car, and looking for a new place you would think he would want to create a new customer but it was the opposite. I felt they were rude, short and condescending when I tried to get info about what they had found. Really delete your tip? read more
