    AVOID AT ALL COSTS I hired them expecting professional…read moreservice, but what I got was a complete breakdown in logistics and a total lack of respect for my property. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company... that is unless you love broken furniture and terrible/non-existent customer service! The company showed up understaffed with fewer workers than we'd contractually agreed to. They didn't send the number of workers promised, which made the entire process slow, disorganized, and ultimately dangerous for my belongings. From the moment they showed up we contacted the company to address the concerns, but given we had everything scheduled logistically to be gone from our house that day, we had no option but to move forward with the smaller worker crew that showed up. Long story short, we wasted twice as long as it should have taken to get everything done due to the lack of movers. And in the process, they managed to completely break some brand new furniture in the process. It was broken so badly that they just threw it away. BUT THE WORST PART IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE: The "screw-ups" during the move were bad enough, but the aftermath has been even worse. Trying to resolve the damage and the contract breach has been a nightmare. Their customer service is dismissive and completely unwilling to take accountability for their failures. Even today, they were supposed to connect me with their claims manager (after about 5 phone calls and 5 emails), yet failed to do so as they said they would. It's clear they care more about booking jobs than actually fulfilling their contractual obligations or protecting your home. I've had to spend my own time drafting emails and fighting just to get a response regarding the property they destroyed. Do not believe the hype. They are understaffed, they break your furniture, and they will leave you hanging when it comes time to make it right. STAY AWAY.

My background - 6x military/full service, long distance, cross continental and international moves in the past 7 years. 1 bedroom apartment w/o garage. No major appliances. Bed/desk/chair/couch for major furniture only. Having seen how fast movers typically work when they're being paid by mileage and poundage, vice getting paid per hour, this was absolutely ridiculous how slow this team was. Normally I'm unable to help movers because they're moving so quickly - packing, moving, staging gear, etc., but with this team, I was clearly the third mover helping the process out. There was zero sense of urgency until I formally called them out on taking their sweet time. Their packing work was extraordinarily shoddy - literally boxes half full and others looking like they "poured" my bookshelves into boxes with books with bent pages and cracked open, with taping jobs that I have never seen in any of my moves (who tapes "x"s on the boxes instead of sealing the edges?). To describe the entire process - sloppy. Considering how expensive this process was and how little was done (they were unable to move my 1 bedroom apartment ten minutes away in 5.5 hours, from an apartment w/ an elevator to a single story house with street access), I did not get value for my money. I ended up moving the remaining 20% of my stuff w/ my friend, fuming about how much money was spent and wasted with La Jolla Moving Company. *UPDATE* (2.5 months): I finally closed the loop w/ the staff and customer service side of the house w/ La Jolla Movers. Initially they seemed very concerned and wanted to do right by me, calling me and being proactive to find out what happened and to rectify the situation. I fully understand and accept that they cannot control every single one of their movers and drivers (reasonable), so I was very clear that my issues were w/ my particular movers, and that they probably do have plenty of good movers in their staff. Ultimately it was determined to refund me some of the time that was lost in the move, which I thought was fair. If this was done expeditiously, I would have easily changed my review to 3+ stars, because a leadership team's follow-up is everything, and the effort to make things right and do the right thing by the customer (not just catering to a customer's whiny needs) - should be recognized. Honesty and integrity are important in a moving company. It ended up taking months to finally close this loop, which ended up being very frustrating with me constantly hunting down CSRs and leadership. Yes, I believe the final financial settlement was fair, but the multiple delays and lack of communication made things incredibly difficult. I tried to give them plenty of opportunities to prove the experience to be an anomaly, but ended up still somewhat frustrated w/ my experience. Upgraded my review as a result, but still very lukewarm about my experience with the company.

    This is my 2nd time using this company and they're my go-to for my next move…read more - Reliable, punctual and communicative. - Affordable pricing with no hidden costs, very upfront (they don't charge extra for the truck, it's included in the price) - 3 hours minimum and 2 guys managed to move my items from 1 bed apt to storage within the timeframe (8am-11am). No extra time which was great. - Handled my items with care and provided extra wrapping/coverage for my delicate items and furniture. - I told them how I wanted items placed in my storage and they made sure to keep certain items accessible within my storage unit.     5 Stars -- Would Hire Again Without Hesitation…read more After dealing with a frustrating situation with another mover, I reached out to JFK Moving to handle a complicated executive desk move. Tia was my first point of contact and she was fantastic -- patient, understanding, and confident they could handle what others couldn't. Pricing was reasonable and transparent, and she worked with me to make it fair. Suhrob and David showed up early and immediately got to work. They were organized, careful, and clearly knew what they were doing. The desk was heavy and complex, but they disassembled it correctly and moved it safely. What impressed me most was that they took the time to explain how it comes apart for future moves. That's next-level professionalism. They also helped with a few extra heavy items without hesitation. This is how moving should be done. I'll be using them again this summer.
