I just stopped into silver lake ramen in Cerritos. I've been hesitant to try ramen place until I actually had a craving for ramen, well today is the day! The place has a cool vibe to it hard to explain it in words but felt relaxed as I came in. I ordered some Gyoza on the side and the main meal was the Shoyu Ramen dish with pork as a protein, bamboo shoots, seaweed, spinach, green onion, seasoned egg and pork. Been on the hunt for a ramen spot that serves truffle ramen similar to Momofuku in Vegas and although it's not quite the same, they do have a Garlic Truffle Ramen here which is good enough to satisfy the craving. Not a lot of places have truffle ramen on the menu so I'll take it. The truffle flavor comes from truffle oil so the taste is pretty subtle. The broth is more garlic forward, it's rich and creamy. They have a bunch of options for toppings to enhance the ramen and it's served in a deep bowl so you're getting a good amount. The space is on the smaller side so you'll usually have to put your name down and wait a bit before getting seated. It's not the most authentic Japanese ramen but it's worth checking out. read more

Service is friendly with touches of LA seen throughout the store. I had the spicy chicken bun and ordered a bowl of Blaze with medium spicy-ness. The bun itself mentioned it had ghost pepper, the flavor was okay, the nap was sweet and it lessened the heat from the chicken. The bowl of ramen itself was flavorful and at the medium heat level, did cause my nose to run a little but it wasn't too hot, the noodles were chewy. I had also tried the karaage, I wish it was crunchier and needed the sauce. Stars taken due to overall experience. The floors were wet when they opened, I was careful walking around but definitely slipped moving around. Passed by this place so many times, today was my forst time getting Silverlake Ramen. Ordered the combo with (4) Chicken Karaage. It's pretty good, took only 7-8 minutes from ordering to be prepared. The sitting area is nice, wasn't packed but had good seats and space compared to other ramen establishments. The only thing stopping this one from 5 stars is there are ramen houses that aren't chains in the area with better broth and slightly bigger portions, but this was a fair order. We came on a weekday after the lunch rush and only half the restaurant was filled. We ordered our food and patiently waited. The table next to us who came later than us got their food. We continued to wait and 30 minutes after our order was placed the server let us know our order got "lost". I was initially frustrated because I left work 2 hours early to try and have a late lunch with my kids to celebrate my son's birthday. My son said it was fine and not to make a big deal. I didn't want to ruin his day so we placed our order again. The server more than tried to accommodate the situation offering an upgrade on the chicken and removing 1 ramen from our bill. We thought that was a nice gesture focusing on customer service. We ordered ramyun. Spicy tonkotsu with pork, regular tonkotsu with chicken, and the black garlic truffle ramen wth pork. Both kids liked their tonkotsu ramen. I enjoyed the black garlic truffle ramen but wished there was a stronger truffle flavor. But overall, the broth was well seasoned and the noodles were good. Broth is just right for cooler fall weather. Honestly this is one of me personal favorites for ramen. Their menu has a great variety which I very much enjoy. Their pork buns are heavenly, the bun is so soft and the pork itself is cooked so nice. Silverlake is fast becoming one of my favorite ramen spots. I tried the one in Temecula not too long ago and liked it, so decided to try one closer to home. Taste and quality are the same, and I tried few different items at this location. I can't really select one absolute favorite that stands out because everything I tried so far have been good, but can't go wrong with just the classic tonkotsu ramen. The broth is really creamy and tasty, without being too salty like at traditional Japanese ramen places. I am able to finish the whole broth without my mouth feeling like dry cotton ball. Cajun Mazemen was unique and tasty. A twist on the traditional mazemen (brothless ramen) using cajun seasoning. Tasted like ramen version of jambalaya. Tsukemen Dipping Noodles were really good as well. Loved the thick, chewy noodles and the creamy fish stock broth. This place seems quite generous with its protein toppings. Got pork for all of them and there was almost too much to finish. Protein choices are pork, chicken or tofu. For appetizer, tried the Spicy Chicken Bun and Crispy Chicken Karaage, which were both good. Service was mixed. My first visit was pretty quick, but today was really slow even though we were first customers for the day. It seemed like the place was short staffed.
