Came in around 7pm on Saturday. No wait and it was pretty crowded. We ordered the tampopo ramen, salmon skin roll, scallop roll, and Sam roll. 4/5 Sam roll was our favorite since it was the only half off roll without spicy tuna and imitation crab filling. 3/5 The salmon skin one wasn't crispy and it was a bit tough to eat 3/5 Baked Scallop roll was your least favorite. They had a way too much sauce on top of it. If I had known, I would've asked for less. The baby scallops themselves were actually pretty good though. But we actually ended up leaving three pieces of the California rolls because it was just meh 3/5 the tampopo Ramen wasn't anything amazing. Definitely wouldn't come here for Ramen again. But given that it was $13 for the Ramen, it's actually not that back compared to the other places in Cerritos at $18 which specializes in Ramen. The food came out quite quickly, but the waiters never asked once how everything was because I probably would've returned the baked scallop roll. Tampopo used to be my go to spot! I haven't been back in a few years, but recently came back and was disappointed both times. Tampopo has a wide variety of different items, bento box, sushi, ramen, and udon. They always have 50% off sushi rolls which include their basic rolls, tempura/crunch rolls, and seared/cooked rolls. I ordered the ramen and a few rolls from the 50% off menu. Personally didn't like the ramen. The meat was chewy and didn't taste like chashu. I also ordered the Crazy Hulk Roll ($9.95), Spicy Shrimp Tempura ($8.50), and the SAM roll ($9.50). All 3 rolls had so much sauce on them. I think that's why they taste good, but there's barely any fish. The Hulk roll comes with eel, but I had to dig through my roll because I could not see any eel. It was the smallest piece of eel in each piece. The salmon did not look fresh in the SAM roll. The rolls are cheaper than other places, but you really get what you pay for. If you're looking for basic rolls packed with sauce, then it's not bad. The customer service was good though and everything came out quick. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back and will pay a little more for better quality and more fish. read more

Food spicy ramen noodle I give the actual noodles 2.5star the noodles was slightly soggy. Spicy Broth a 4 star. It was very good broth flavor and good heat. The veggies of onions and bean sprouts was crunchy yet cooked well. It was great. The meat was creamy flavor and not too fatty so a 3.5star Spicy tuna: it didn't have too much flavor, but it seems OK for a Ramen/sushi place which always makes me nervous, but it was fine. I give it a 2.5 for flavor as it was bland. 3star for freshness. Wasabi was not enough flavor. No burn. No flavor. Sad. Service: they were very nice and welcoming. It felt very homie truly small business feel. They were very accomadating and friendly. 4star. Ambiance: Very tight small space. They had a big group of 8 sitting next to me. So they can fit big and small groups but you would need to call ahead to make sure they reserve tables for you. The small restaurant fills up very fast. Parking: oMG the worst. Crazy drivers and small tiny space. Give your time to find parking. I got to the restaurant exactly 5 minutes after opening and I walked in and the restaurant was already 3/4's packed in full. I love this restaurant. Even though, yes, some of their sashimi is kind of squishy, the miso has no ingredients other than green onions, and their rice has a lot of vinegar, I love how the sashimi is in BIG GIGANTIC PIECES. I've never had any problems with the servers, but maybe they could put more movies on the TV instead of sports. I always come in with an empty stomach, order the Sushi Deluxe Special A, which, mind you, only has a sushi of choice, chef's choice of 6 sashimi pieces, and a bowl of miso, and I come back out with a full stomach. It's awesome. I love the Washington Roll, especially since it's basically a California Roll but with salmon on top. I love salmon. read more

Order was to-go so I'm not sure about service although I noted that the guy who rang me up was extremely polite and performed the subtle gestures that are a really big thing in the Asian community. Rice portion: if you love huge mounds of rice, this is not your spot. They do smaller portions of rice and big massive wads of the good stuff. Freshness: fresh is a bit difficult to gauge. The best fish is actually flash frozen for a while and then thawed and wrapped in paper for hours/days. Instead of "freshness", I'll lean more on fish preparation. They prepare the fish well. Cuts are nice. Overall, their special 50% rolls look to be a spicy tuna or California roll with some fish, crunch powder, and eel sauce on top (like everybody else). The big difference here is they price it accordingly rather than tacking on a bunch of money because it's named differently. read more

The customer service wasn't good at all. The workers moved out tables in the middle of our meal and didn't give us plates when we asked so we just didn't bother to ask again. The workers failed to check on our table during our meal to see if we'd like to order something else, we finished our meal and yet they still failed to bring us a refill on our waters. We had to ask for a water refill after our meal was completely over. They brought us a check even though we didn't ask for it and we wanted to order more food. We were both famished as this was our first meal of the day. Additionally, I ordered the Tampopo sushi while hubby: salmon Fire sushi. It's true what they say about not shopping while you're hungry coz we ordered with our eyes & stomachs. Yup, it was a lot of food!! The dishes arrived promptly & we dug in-the broth was savory & full of flavor while the ramen noodles was just right in consistency-oh so good. Too much rice on my spicy tuna so I removed some-luckily hubby ate it with his teriyaki chicken. He loved his salmon fire sushi but the sauce was a bit sweet. The tampopo sushi was pretty good & very filling although I would not order it again-the fried flaky garnishing was too overwhelming. They were generous with the avocado filling. You all have no idea how much I contemplated to write this review. This is my all time favorite ramen and tempura sushi place. The fact that this place has one star review absolutely baffled me. I when I come here I either get the spicy miso ramen or the tampopo ramen. It pairs amazingly with their 50% off sushi (again it's not fresh sushi it's tempura sushi) that doesn't not mean that their fresh caught sushi isn't fantastic. Ive had their big platter and let me tell you there was no left over for how delightful it was. The service reflects their mom And pop quality and yes they do speak English it's very good service. The inside is so rommie and most of the time it is packed. This is the main reason why I was contaplting if I want to review this restaurant because I don't want my Favorite place to get busier but if this means keeping them in business I will do what it takes. read more

This has been our go-to quick ramen/ sushi spot for a while! They have an extensive menu and always have the 50% off rolls specials (most of the rolls on sale had the same ingredients). Service was always descent and food comes out fairly quick. Also, their food, although not premium, is all pretty good and hits the spot when you're craving for certain things and don't want to go too far/ pay too much/ or wait for too long lol.
