Ordered the spicy miso tsukemen and it was only okay! I felt like the noodle texture was perfect and yummy. But thought the actual dipping soup/sauce was only okay. Service was just fine! There was only one person servicing the crowd and I think they needed one more person to help serve. Ambiance of the restaurant was also just fine! They had cute little animations in the wall.
We keep passing by this place and finally decided to try it. The restaurant was relatively small, so it was packed when we came for dinner and had to wait abt 20mins. We got the chasu bao to share, and I got the spicy miso with an egg add-on. The food was good. I like that the egg was marinated, and was soft boiled. The broth was on the thicker side compared to other ramen places I've been to. The chili paste made the soup a little bit saltier. The chasu bao was tasty, but it was a bit on the fattier side for me. Overall, solid ramen place, I would try their tsukemen next time.
My brother and I tried tsukemen for the first time in Japan by accident about a year ago, and have been seeking out a place to try in OC since we enjoyed it so much. I've had this place bookmarked for so long and am glad we got to finally try it! We came around 6:30pm on a weekend and surprisingly only waited about 10 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a pretty small shop but very cozy, and there's also some seating outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It looked like there were a lot of parties waiting as we left so we definitely came at a good time. We both got the chashu miso spicy tsukemen. I never usually finish ramen because it gets monotonous, but I slurped up every single noodle in this dish. The noodles were perfectly chewy and amazing when dipped into the rich, savory broth. I liked that there were the seaweed, garlic, and chili powder toppings at our table so we could customize the taste of our broth. They were very generous with the thick cuts if chashu, which were also perfectly seasoned. I honestly still think about this meal and hope I'm able to come back soon!
Holy cow this ramen is amazing. I've been craving dip ramen since going to Japan last year and I finally found a spot. The restaurant is really small but I came right on time and had to wait less than 5 minutes. Since it's dip ramen the broth is really salty so just be a little weary lol. The meat is not dry and melts in your mouth and the egg is just *chefs kiss*

Both were refreshing and helped offset the rich, thick dashi of the ramen and the tsukemen. We started with a small beef bowl and a small takana bowl. The beef was tender and flavorful. The takana, one of my favorite types of tsukemono, was so good and brought me back to my childhood. We also got a chicken with their special garlic sauce. The chicken was very tender and the sauce paired perfectly with the chicken. For our main course we got a red miso ramen. We got the regular size and it was very filling. The soft boiled egg was perfection. The noodles were wonderful. I really liked that they have different noodles to go with each of their dashi offerings. The chashu miso tsukemen was next. Once again, we got the regular size. It was also very filling. The soft boiled egg was perfect as were the noodles. The dashi was rich and thick. At the end of my meal, I got the soup wari, a piping light broth to add to the remainder of my dashi. It makes it more soup like and a perfect way to end the meal. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Service was warm and friendly. Food comes out very quickly. This will become your new favorite ramen and tsukemen restaurant.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]A true hidden gem. This is a very small place in a strip mall. The outside is unremarkable but when you enter you are transported to what I imagine a ramen place in Japan would be like. I was surprised to find that this small ramen spot has earned Michelin Guide recognition for four consecutive years 2022-2025 , especially at such affordable prices. We ordered the Regular White Miso Ramen $15 , Large Chashu Miso Tsukemen $22.50, and Regular Chashu White Miso Ramen $19.50 .Everything was delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were thick, and the char siu roast pork was very tender. The soy marinated egg was perfectly cooked, with a soft yolk and a balanced sweet salty flavor. There are signs on the walls explaining how to eat certain items, like the spicy ball, which was fun and helpful. The atmosphere is simple and no frills. The restaurant is small, with only about 14 -16 seats, so we waited around 20 minutes. When we left, there was already a long line. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking can be a bit challenging, the lot is small with tight spaces, but there is some nearby street parking available.
Wasn't feeling ramen on a hot day so got tsukemen instead! I haven't had it that many times and was hoping today was the day I'd fall in love!! Unfortunately no it's just not my food of choice, but that's no fault of the restaurant. Spicy Miso Tsukemen (large, $18.50)-- Very heavily flavored, salty, oily, so dip however much of it as you prefer. The noodles are nice and chewy but surprisingly flatter than I thought? It's not round, think more linguine or flat egg noodle. Flavor wise it's super savory but was too salty for me and I kind of got tired of the flavor about halfway through since it's so one dimensional. It's nice though that the broth isn't just plain but comes with textural elements like bamboo and bean sprouts. Also note-- the noodles come COLD and the broth is what's hot! So when you dip the temperature kind of balances out. It comes with 2 pieces of chashu (chunky, fatty, beautiful) and seaweed and lime. For toppings on the table, they have chopped garlic, seaweed flakes, chili powder and black pepper! Customize as you wish! I added the garlic, chili powder (not spicy at all) and black pepper. At the end of the meal you can ask for broth to add into the concentrated tsukemen broth to make it drinkable. It was still so incredibly salty that I wasn't able to drink it. But I made a mini ramen bowl with the rest of my noodles and had some that way! Would I come back? No not my food of choice and wasn't a fan of the flat-ish noodle or the super heavy broth. But this place is a fan favorite for a reason so if you want to try tsukemen maybe start here! Parking is kind of tough since it's a tiny lot in a strip plaza, but I parked in the residential area right next door and walked over.

If you are looking for a solid ramen spot in Cypress, Tao Tsukemen is a must-visit. They've been stacking up Michelin recognition for years (2022-2025!), and after one bowl of their broth, it's easy to see why. Hands down the most rich and savory ramen broth I've ever had. We ordered the Red Miso Ramen, and the depth of flavor was phenomenal. Don't skip the Spicy Pork Bun. The bun was pillowy soft, and the pork was perfectly tender with just the right amount of kick. Since it was our first time, the staff was incredibly friendly and walked us through the menu to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The seating is a bit limited, so we opted for the bar. Pro-Tip: Parking is the only "lowlight." They share a tiny lot with a 7-Eleven and it can be a total nightmare. Save yourself the headache and just park across the street from the start. Also, as the name suggests, they are famous for their Tsukemen (dipping noodles). We didn't try it this time, but the "How to Eat" guides at the table make it look like a "BOOM" explosion of flavor. Verdict: Phenomenal food and top-tier service. Will definitely be back to finally try that Tsukemen!

Gave this place another try as the first time I ordered pick up and was disappointed on the portion size and price. I came on a Friday before 5pm and it was great, no wait and decent amount of parking. Like a few have mentioned, parking is definitely limited and very tight. I got the chashu white miso and it was full to the brim. Generous portion of ramen and there were about 4 chashu slices for the regular size. According to our waiter, the large is basically more noodles and an extra piece of meat. Unfortunately, you cannot sub noodles and have to order as is. This was the last place I ate at before leaving socal. My sister found this place through social media and thought it looked good do we tried it. We ate here on a Sunday afternoon, and did have to wait about 20 minutes for tables to open up. Our group of 7 got split into two. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside the shop is very cozy and has about 5 tables with a "bar" area for seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the chashu red miso ramen, which was pretty good. The broth was very thick, and I enjoyed it. But it did taste overly salted to me. It was still good, but I would have water on the side when eating. All the toppings and meat were good as well. Customer service was good. They got our order while we were waiting for our table outside and the wait was not long once we sat down. Parking is tight in this little lot since it is shared with about 5 other shops. Not sure I'll be back, but if I do, I'll get something with lighter broth. read more

This was our third attempt at this very busy and crowded restaurant. We came at 11am which is when they're open. We were 4th in line. We got seated and didn't have to wait. I had a lot of expectation in the ramen, however I was very disappointed. The broth was really salty and the bowls were small for the price. There was only one waitress; she was very busy. I was afraid to ask for things I needed. I feel bad bc she was so busy. Parking lot is a nightmare; small and most of the spots were labeled "compact car". It was so tight getting in and out of our SUV. I don't think I will be returning. read more

Finally got a chance to try this Michelin star Ramen today and I am very impressed with how well the food is prepared here. Sit down and within minutes you will have a perfectly delicious bowl of noodles. The ambiance is nice and the restaurant isn't too loud. Very small place with maybe five tables inside and a couple long tables set up kinda like a counter outside. VERY reasonable prices. Everyone said they loved their noodles. Nice bite to the bouncy noodles. I got the Tsukemen with the sauce on the side with extra menma AKA Takenoko. Super tasty food and a really authentic Ramen shop fully staffed with only Japanese nationals. Come check out this place for some serious food. read more

First off, just wow! Been wanting to try this place since it's a Michelin Bib spot and I'm obsessed with dipping-style noodles. I'm glad I finally made it in because the food was so good. Out of all the dishes, I think Tsukemen is the way to go. Their broth was rich, flavorful, and really soaked into the noodles. The noodles also had a nice chew to them too, which made every dip super satisfying. The one thing I do suggest is asking them to make the soup hotter. That's the only minor area that I think needed improvement because I enjoy my broth extra hot. Keep a note that the restaurant is super small so large groups can get tight and isn't recommended. Parking is honestly so small and the spaces in between the next car is so narrow. A bit of a headache in my opinion even though they have a lot for it right in front. Overall, this place truly blew my mind. It made up for the minor inconveniences. read more

Ramen & Tsukemen TAO again in Buena Park, CA is another one of my go-to spots for ramen. This is an authentic Japanese ramen restaurant with Michelin recognition, and you can truly taste the quality in every bowl. The ramen is consistently rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying--exactly what you'd expect from a place with this level of reputation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside is that the space is quite small, and the menu is very focused without many alternatives outside of their core offerings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]That said, it's also part of what makes the experience feel authentic and intentional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, I wouldn't expect anything less from this restaurant. I happened to stumble upon the Yelp page of this place while searching for potential good ramen spots, and I am so glad I decided to come here. When we arrived, it was raining pretty heavily but there was still a line outside. This is a really small shop, with some bar seating, few indoor tables, and a couple outdoor tables. I waited for about an hour until I could place my order. I usually find ramen to have very subtle flavors, but this spot truly packed a punch in their broths. I was so thoroughly surprised and satisfied when I had the first bite of my meal. I got the spicy red miso ramen and it was pure perfection to me. I loved it so much. I am going to start raving about this place to all my friends so I can come here again and again. I can't wait to come back! read more
Ramen & Tsukemen Tao in Buena Park has received the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for 4 years in a row since 2022. It really is quality food that doesn't break the bank. The place is really tiny that maybe sits 18 people (indoors) at best so prepare to wait. They don't have a waitlist on Yelp but make sure you put yourself on the clipboard while looking for parking (because it can be a pain)! You are able to write your name, party size and your seating preference: table, bar, outside. Granted it was raining today so only the indoor seating area was utilized. However, I did see a table outside for maybe 4 people. Highly suggest circling all 3 if you don't have any preference. I ordered the Chasu Red Miso Ramen which comes with the TAO tsukemen thick noodles-- kind of reminds me of a fettuccine texture as it is firm to bite. I found the broth to be thicker compared to the white miso ramen so it was very filling to say the least. I asked for the "spicy Tao" paste which costs $1 to add some oomph and kick up the spice level up a notch. I normally finish my food than everyone else but I wasn't feeling 100% today so I had a lot of leftovers. I plan to come back next time and give it another try-- I would probably order a regular spicy red miso ramen or the spicy white miso ramen. Service-wise, I would give it 5 stars because there was only one server and 4 kitchen staff so it was pretty much like clock work. Despite the lady server waiting on tables all by herself, service was very efficient. She kept topping our water every chance she gets and attending to people's needs. Im not huge on trying out places that I find on social media, but I'm glad I did this time. Beware this parking lot is tiny and shared with other businesses. Also, the spots are compact. I arrived at about 2:45 and was called at about 3:30. We were a party of two. The ordering process felt a bit rushed. Don't expect great service, but the food was great. I eat very slow and my ramen was hot until I was done. By the way the portions are great. I ordered the veggie ramen with an egg. I wasn't a fan of the tofu. To me it lacked flavor. The red a miso was super spicy. I had a taste of the chashu and it was one of the best I've had. I would recommend starting off either the gyoza. It was kinda great. read more

If you're looking for a decadent bowl of ramen, you'll have to check this place out. Came here with friends on a Sunday afternoon right when they opened and was very lucky to not have to wait. Two of us ordered the White Miso Chashu Ramen and the other one a Tsukemen (dipping ramen). I can't speak for the Tsukemen but my friend finished the whole thing before I finished mine so I take it as a good sign. The White Miso Chashu Ramen is super flavorful. The noodles were a great texture with just the right amount of chewy/bouncy quality. The chashu pieces were a good balance of fattiness too. My favorite though is the egg. That is probably the best ramen egg I've had in a long time. It was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of jelly quality in the yolk. I'm personally not a fan of runny yolks in my ramen so this was perfect for me. Also, the yolk is orange, which I don't even know how they got it (I've only seen orange egg yolks in Asia). The service was super quick and friendly and the interior seating was very comfortable and cozy. The parking lot isn't huge but there seems to be sufficient parking for the establishments. Unbelievable. One of the best Tsukemen that I've ever had bar none. Pros: Their noodles are fantastic. Handmade fresh and perfect texture. I've actually never had their ramen because their Tsukemen is amazing. The dipping broth.. Jesus Christ.. Thick, flavorful and full of umami. Heavy unlike your typical dipping broth, but unbelievably good. Serving sizes are great as well. I'm a pretty big eater, but after getting the large size, I don't even have room for the extra rice to finish off the broth. The chasu is perfect for the combination, but obviously the star of the show are the noddles and broth. I live around 45 mins from here and would make the drive anytime if other want it as well. Cons: [[HIGHLIGHT]]they get super busy at times and the parking lot is pretty small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are decent. Bottom line: they're supposed to be known for their ramen, but I just can't get myself to get their ramen when their Tsukemen is just so dang good. There aren't very many good Tsukemen places out there. So this is definitely a gem. Come hungry and leave time for a nap because this place will put you to sleep. read more
yummy spot for tsukemen! it was my first time trying and it was a great experience. inside has a few spots to eat at so it can get busy with a wait. there's one table in the middle of the restaurant which was funny to sit at. started off with the gyoza, which tasted good but wasn't anything out of the ordinary. the spicy tsukemen actually had a nice kick! there were also a generous amount of sprouts and bamboo in the broth. the pork was meaty and went well with the broth. the broth was thick and salty , a tad bit on the saltier side for my liking. but the noodles were perfect! i loved the consistency and texture. i'd come back for the noodles all day everyday read more

Hands down the best ramen in LA! I legit felt like I was in Japan. The bone broth is rich and full of flavor, and the egg is perfectly jammy -- like they really know what they're doing. The best part is in the little details. There's this small jar of seaweed on the table -- scoop a spoonful into your bowl and boom, instant flavor explosion. Just a heads up, it's always packed, so either come super early or after 7:40 p.m. Totally worth the wait though! read more

My chashu of the 16.50 Spicy Tsukemen did not have the circular chashu shown on the menu. It is the same cut of meat, but I would of appreciated a heads up from the waitress or on the menu because I was looking forward to have the circular chashu and I know they used to do it before. I felt it was unprofessional when I asked the staff about the circular chashu and the staff responded with, "It is still chashu," with a tone that made me feel wrong to even ask. So, pretty disappointed on that detail for a restaurant that has a Michelin from 2022 to 2025. The tsukemen is good, but I felt deceived from what I was expecting to what I got. I think it would be good to update the photos of their physical and online menu or put a warning that the visuals of the food will look different from the menu. read more

This place is also hyped on Tiktok and learned this place is michelin rated for 4 consecutive years. The place is very small. The setup and vibes will make you feel like you're in a traditional family-owned Japanese resto. So expect the wait to be long. On a Friday night, there's one lady checking in, sitting customers, taking and serving orders The small bowl of ramen is a good size for one. The broth is on the creamier and thicker side, which wasn't really to my liking. The toppings and chashu were cold, so you really have to mix it all up to warm everything together. The toppings weren't overwhelming, and it's cool that they have chopped seaweed flakes on the side so you can add as much as you want. The chashu was a nice thick slice and pretty good once it heated up. read more
This place has earned a spot of the Michelin Bib Gourmand for like four years in a row. I think it is well deserved. The ramen shop is very small, but it wasn't too crowded during lunch at all. The service was nice and quick, and the food came out quickly as well. I got the Chasu Spicy Miso Tsukkemen, which is a cold dipping noodle with a thicker broth. I love the noodles here. They are very thick and chewy. The broth is also very flavorful and fatty. The chashu is well seasoned, tender, and nicely charred. Halfway through the meal, you can squeeze some lime over your noodles to change the flavor profile of the ramen a bit. It's a very enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this spot for dinner! I went here for lunch and had to almost immediately take a nap after, so be prepared for a put-you-to-sleep meal. read more

Wanted to try this place for a while since it's a bib gourmand. It's pretty good! Had the white miso ramen which was flavorful but not too salty. The menma was delicious but kind of sucks I had to pay extra for an egg (albeit the egg was greattt) Also had a taste of the vegetarian (flavorful broth but had some acidity to it?) and the Tsukemen (yum!!!). It's a small place so it'd be hard to go with a big group. Service was fast which was nice. read more
The ramen was good, but not the best we've had. Negatives: -prices, a little pricey though the regular portion was decent. -broth, we both got red miso and it was honestly a little salty. We didn't expect the broth to be that thick and salty. Maybe it's a different style? Next time, if we come back, I'll try the white miso or the chicken. We're not used to a broth being this thick. -ambiance, it's a tiny shop with a tiny parking lot. Given the area I wouldn't pay this much for ramen. Positives: -noodles, the noodles were amazing with good thickness and the perfect chew. The beef bowl was good too and the chashu had good flavor. -I couldn't request for no bean sprouts, I'm allergic to bean sprouts, but it's a minor allergy. I was able to enjoy my ramen without being bothered by it. -service, quick and responsive Overall 3.5/5 I know this place has many Michelin selections, but maybe it's just not our style. The food was amazing, the noodles were soooo goood and thiccccc!! It's definitely different than other ramen places. It wasn't your typically regular thin egg noodles!!! I loved the sauce and if you like spicy, it's okay to put a bunch of the red pepper in your broth I also love their marinated egg The service was good, it gets busy so you have to wait a while but it's worth it. Yes the stroller is fine to bring BUT the space is very small. I brought in the car seat instead. I have 3 kids so it's difficult to bring a stroller In. I wouldn't let having a kid stop me from trying this place tho! Definitely must try!
