I normally don't dine in places that's inside a shopping center. Especially for ramen, I find that authentic spots are usually a hold in the wall. But I was here doing some shopping and got hungry and was pleasantly surprised to find a good spot! At lunch they have a lunch special for $15 that includes an appetizer which you can choose edamame or salad, a mini ramen, and a rice bowl! I felt that was such a good value since just their ramen alone is ~$18-20. I have a small appetite but love variety so this worked out! I ate all the edamame, which had truffle taste to it. I think maybe they use a course truffle salt. Finished The mini ramen and I took a couple bites of the rice bowl and had so much leftover for dinner! Two meals for $15 + tip, worth it! We had a delicious ramen lunch at Silverlake on a Saturday afternoon. We had 3 classics and one Blaze (medium) which was the perfect spice level for me. We also tried a pork bun, spicy tuna roll, and California roll. The sushi tasted very fresh, the pork buns were some of the best we ever had. We also really enjoyed the ramen. We had just returned from Japan and found the flavors very authentic. Service was excellent and no wait for a table around 1:30pm. There is indoor and outdoor seating but we sat indoors and really enjoyed our experience. We stumbled across it by accident as it's located in a corner of the food court to the left as you walk in and we were so happy with our choice given all the many food options at UTC. Food (5/5 stars): I had tried Silver Lake Ramen at their original location in LA and am glad they expanded to San Diego! Their Garlic Truffle Ramen is one of their unique, signature dishes. I loved the rich, umami broth and their chili paste elevated it. They also served a thick slice of chashu that was well-marinated and had a generous amount of fat. Their ramen egg never disappoints and the noodles had a nice thickness to them. They nailed each component of this ramen and I highly recommend it! I'll try their Blaze Tonkotsu next time though. I came to Silver Lake Ramen because Ramen Nagi was closed, and I'd heard good things from others. We opted for the combo, which includes an appetizer and ramen for $20--a great deal! For appetizers, we tried the gyozas and chicken karaage. Both were delicious, and I particularly loved how the karaage was perfectly crispy. For the ramen, we went with the Medium Blaze with pork. The pork was crispy and flavorful, which I really enjoyed. That said, we didn't quite love the ramen overall. While it wasn't bad, it didn't quite live up to the hype for us. It wasn't as flavorful as some of the other ramen spots we frequent, and I didn't taste any spice in the broth despite it being advertised as spicy. The noodles were decent but nothing to write home about. I'd recommend Silver Lake Ramen to anyone just getting into ramen or looking for a more approachable option, but for us, it's not a place we feel the need to revisit. This was my first time here. The place is very clean and I like the asthetic. For apps, we ordered the gyoza abs that was very fresh and tasty. My boss and I ordered the regular size pork bowl with jalapeño. It was so good and the jalapeño had the right amount of heat. My boss also ordered a coke but he never received it. After arriving at Westfield University Town Center in San Diego on an early Saturday evening, we had to pick a place to eat at. There were many choices to choose from. I was more impressed with this Silverlake Ramen's ramen than the other one. I got the combo with the Blaze Ramen mild spice and their handmade fried gyoza for one great price. OMG... the pork belly was tender moist mouth watering from entry down to the tummy LOL. It was just deliciously delicious! Gyozas were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Yummy! My daughters got the combo, too, ramen, but with different appetizers such as chicken karaage and pork bun. This was my brother and his family's first time at Silverlake Ramen. They loved it, too. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Service was good with the exception of one chicken karaage that took longer than the other chicken karaage. Prices were reasonable. Ambiance was inviting and comfortable. All in all, a wonderful and delicious experience. Came here with some friends/colleagues for lunch, we have never been, and this looked like a good selection from the food court area. In walking in, the restaurant was clean, getting a seat was rather quick as was the ordering process. We each ordered a combo meal. The tonkatsu ramen was decent, the broth was not as thick and rich as I prefer, but still have a good taste to it, the chasu pork was cooked well as were the eggs. It didn't taste like traditional Japanese ramen, more like regular noodle, but the broth was very creamy, and I really enjoyed the flavor.
