    Spicy miso ramen

On every San Diego trip, me and my family visit Chopstix. Delicious, reliable, consistent with friendly, welcoming and fast service. Lots of seating and I also enjoy the TV screens to take a look at while enjoying a wonderful meal. The ramen here is a stand out with rich, deep and flavorful broths and tons of variations to choose from with toppings. We always order the gyoza, just perfect. The miso soup has a lovely flavor as well.

Service was great. Food was massive portions ! Parking on the street was easy to come by. For the food I've had better but they're known for their noodles and we didn't get any sadly

Between the ramen, tempura don, nabeyaki udon, and bento box...the only hit was the tempura don. Everything else we ordered was mediocre at best. The portions and quality didn't justify the $20 price tag. The shrimp tempura pieces are super tiny, but at least the batter was light and crispy. Unfortunately there are much better options in the area. This would be a pass for me in the future.

always a classic!! the food is always yummy and fresh. i would say it's a go to spot, but service is spotty. i always wait ages for my order to be taken and the food to come out but it is still pretty yummy. they have some good deals later too. we got takoyaki and the katsu! miso soup was like halfway filled which was also disappointing. they gave us a tiny thing of katsu sauce as well. the katsu itself was delicious. the cut of meat was definitely quality. takoyaki was yum and octopus was fresh

Great spot for a late night snack/dinner or if you want something quick and cheap. Parking can be a bit difficult. They have so many dishes ranging from sushi, curry, ramen, udon, etc.

I have been coming here for years and when my diverse group of co-workers was looking for a spot to get together and eat, I knew this was a good choice due to their amazing variety. Came here with a party of 6 and we got seated immediately. Food 4/5: I got the special entree chicken katsu which comes with a side of miso soup and rice. This is always my go to as it is always perfectly crunchy and the miso soup just heals the soul. Only a 4/5 because I tried my friend's udon and it was super salty. Service 5/5: The service here is always great and we were always checked on. They truly take customer service to a high standard.

Fumi is so much fun and wonderful!!! Great personality and warm hospitality!!! Enjoyed our conversation with her while she served great Japanese cuisine with our friends visiting from Hawaii. Great specials when you order a large beer/sake. The restaurant is clean and has a great vibe to enjoy your meal. We keep coming back for the great service and delicious food. The Original Chopstix is da best!!!

I have been coming here since I was in college. This spot has been opened for 30+ years and I know why they are. Food is always consistent and tastes home cooked. Pricing is extremely reasonable and portions are large. The staff is extremely nice and the setting feels like a home style Japanese restaurant. I personally always get the mabo and curry combo. No other place makes Japanese style mabo tofu in San Diego. In addition pretty much everything else on the menu is pretty solid. I am going to continue to come back here!

Went here for dinner cause felt like sushi and ramen. Off Convoy. Parking is small so be patient looking for one. The inside is also a little small for dining. Sushi is good and the miso ramen hit the spot. The chicken teriyaki bento box was ok. I felt the chicken could have had more sauce and flavor but overall it was decent.

One of my favorite ramen places in San Diego. I've been going to it for many years. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The furniture has gone through a few renovations throughout the years too to keep it comfy. Though no longer on the menu, I still order the wakame (seaweed) ramen and they'll still make it. Their shoyu broth is my favorite, it is full of umami flavor, maybe from mushrooms. Their wonton chasyu ramen is pretty good too. Also like their mabo ramen, okayko don, curry, stir fry veggies, vegetable tempura, yakisoba. Some differences from other ramen places I should mention: - their egg is a hardboiled egg, not a soft boiled egg - their chasyu is lean meat, not the fatty ones. But I like this more because sometimes the fatty ones are too fatty.

I had decided tentatively to get pizza, but my cousin told me when I picked him up that he was on a healthy food kick. Plus, he wanted to go to a "Michelin star place" and this was the only Michelin star place I could think of... and ramen noodles are pretty healthy so what the heck? I had been to the Mira Mesa location before so I knew what to expect here. My cousin was new so he was trying to figure out what to order. Unlike last time at the Mira Mesa location, I knew not to order the extra noodles and went for the tonkotsu ajitama, which does seem like the safe option. I added corn and seaweed into my bowl, which I think helped add to the nice umami flavor. But even without the extra noodles, I still couldn't finish the whole bowl of ramen. To be fair, I did have breakfast a couple of hours before. Still, it was filling. And I had leftovers for later. My cousin ordered the Tonkotsu bowl only, and he said it was really good. Coming from a pretty picky eater like himself, that's a compliment.

A normal meal. A casual San Diego ramen situation. Incorrect. What actually happened was that my child experienced a culinary event so powerful it rearranged her internal belief system. She took one bite and immediately declared it her "favorite meal ever" and "the best sushi on earth," which is impressive because those are two separate categories of food, but honestly I respect the conviction. At that moment, she became a tiny ramen prophet. A noodle evangelist. A sushi sommelier of chaos. I was no longer her father. I was merely the adult with a wallet and transportation. The ramen was fantastic. The sushi was fresh. The whole place had that magical "we actually care about what we are doing" energy, which is increasingly rare in a world held together by parking apps and spiritual fatigue. Then, as if the first visit had not already altered the timeline, my daughter made me go back the next day. Not requested. Not suggested. Made. There was no negotiation. She had tasted the mountain and demanded we return to the temple. So we did. And it was still excellent. BESHOCK is now officially part of our family lore. Somewhere between "remember that time we saw the ocean" and "remember when your daughter discovered ramen and briefly became a food critic possessed by a joyful sea dragon." Highly recommend. Bring your children only if you are emotionally prepared for them to ask to come back immediately.

Beshock used to have tonkotsu ramen but now only offer ramen with chicken broth. They used to have this AMAZING lunch combo where you'd be able to buy ramen + sushi but they no longer offer that any more. Although it's still good and i can't really complain about the new additions I just wish they'd still have a tonkotsu option. I used to go out of my way to drive to downtown and order their food but I don't think I'll be doing that anymore. Again their food is still good just completely different.

I got the shoyu ramen, chashu rice, and a cold oolong tea. The ramen was fine in texture and al dente. The broth was flavorful, without being oversalted. I was very impressed by the chashu: it was carefully cooked and just melts in your mouth. Extra tender. The oolong tea really hit the spot too. The food came quickly, and service was good. It is a really cute place, feels authentically Japanese inside, but also authentically small, so I recommend reservations for a larger group: we were a party of 7 on a Saturday evening around 5:30 with no reservation and we had a wait of around 40 minutes.
