Before trying 520 Grill, I had received mixed reviews about their burgers from friends. I decided to go in and try for myself. The gentleman there taking my order and my money was extremely rude. He was rude to the customer in front of me, so when I walked up I was bracing myself for the same kind of treatment. The manner in which he was saying things to me was impolite, he was not friendly, he seemed like he would rather be anywhere else on earth than there working. He seemed annoyed when I gave him my debit card to pay for my order and again was also rude in the way he told me that they prefer cash payments for orders under $15 (I don't remember the exact amount he gave me, but it was around that number), so "try and remember that for next time." I wanted to tell him there probably wasn't going to be a next time- since my experience there so far hasn't been that great and I haven't even tried their food yet! I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt- perhaps he was having a bad day- but he was friendly with other customers there that he seemed to be friends with. And the burger I ordered wasn't even that great- not for the price- but it could have just been the overall service that left the bad taste in my mouth. I live in Aspen and have for a few years now, and do not plan to ever go back to 520 Grill. The cook seemed kind, as did the employee cleaning up the floor and the tables. It's not a BAD spot- I would just suggest considering a different place to dine before choosing 520 Grill. read more

We have been coming to Aspen for years and were happy to find a new grill open up a few years back. The FIRST time we tried 520 Grill the owner (who is also the cashier) was hospitable (I now chalk that up to needing the business). The subsequent times we have been there (3 times) the food has been mediocre at best and the owner stand offish, rude, and out right a jerk. This is not a place you should bother eating at especially since CP burger has better food all around, including their Kale salad and truffle fries, and is a family friendly place. Love the 520 kale salad. I'm always there for lunch and as a veg head I can't speak to the burgers but I have a few choices. It's order at the counter & sit down. Friendly and fast. Lots of locals. Inexpensive & that gets harder to find in Aspen every season. read more

We ate here twice during our stay. My husband had the wahoo tacos both times, he loved them. The Mac n Cheese is wonderful, however the kids chicken quesadillas were super spicy. The chicken tortilla soup is also pretty legit. Small place, but friendly staff. Right next to a dispensary so expect to get a whiff of funny cigarettes every now and then. read more

Came here because of the reviews and the wife liked the menu. I got the Bacon Infused burger which was good, I'm not sure I could taste the bacon but most menu items like this rarely live up to the title. The quinoa salad which she enjoyed very much and she would get it again. If a meat eater and a hippie eater can find a restaurant they both like, it gets 5 stars in my book. read more

Two words: Fish Tacos! I went in for a burger because a coworker was eating one in the office and was raving about it. I got there and the fish tacos sounded good so I went with those and holy cow, they were the best fish tacos I've ever had anywhere. We were looking for a place to have a burger where the food was good and not too costly as many places in Aspen are expensive. We found this on a side street and decided to try it. The food was great and there were lots of locals there. We were also allowed to bring our dog to their outside seating area! We highly recommend them. read more

Ok so with one dollar sign I expected a cheap lunch. Wrong!!! Maybe cheap for Aspen though. In all honesty I had the best fish tacos I could ever imagine, not to mention sweet potato fries. We found this place based on a yelp search - we were looking for something healthy for lunch and the kale salad was what stood out. The owner Wheaton (I hope that is right!) was working the cash register and was very helpful in reviewing the menu - yes, it is small, but everything we tried was delicious! Yes, we ordered the kale salad - one with grilled salmon, one with wahoo. We also tried the pulled pork, great sweet and spicy flavor and the steak rolladillas... omg, not healthy, but oh so good! First time in Aspen, and used yelp to find an affordable, but tasty place to eat. The woman who took our order was very personable and made some recommendations on my meal that made it wonderful. I wanted to try the kale & quinoa salad, but really wanted some protein. She suggested adding meat, whatever kind i liked and told me try the pico de gallo with it. I added chicken and the pico. It was tasty and healthy, just what I wanted. My son had a burger that looked juicy, and he ate it right up. I will go back next time I am in Aspen. read more

As a local, I've heard abut this place from friends about how good the burger and fries were. I went in with a friend and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the special which was a double burger with bleu cheese and "caramelized" onions a drink and fries for like 11 bucks. The bun was about the only decent thing in my basket. The patties were frozen pre-formed and tasteless, the onions were not even close to caramelized, and the fries were handcut, which was nice, but were fried in oil that must have been a week old. At first I thought they were seasoned fries by the black specks that were on them, then after tasting them I Discovered it was particles from the fryer. Just a bad experience with bland food and I will never return again. :( read more
