Haven't been to a sonics in a long time; so here we are in Salida, CO. @ Rainbow Blvd. Wasn't too hungry but ordered a vanilla shake and small fry for my wife. I had the hot dog " The All American " topped with ketchup, yellow mustard, relish, diced onions and served in a soft, warm bakery bun with drink and onion rings. The touch scree wouldn't let me pay via credit card as it was an option and screen froze several times. Order was placed. We waited and waited and waited; then I pressed the order button again and was asked for my order - I said we ordered like 20 minutes ago - he said I'll be right back. Later the car hop came out with our order. Said she was new and didn't know the order sitting there who it belonged to so she let it set. She said the meal was on her, which was nice but we were still missing the fries. So much for sonics visits. The food was good; just lacking some customer service work! read more

Ordered a chocolate shake. Received a vanilla shake with some chocolate sauce drizzled on top. Asked for a chocolate shake because the one I got tasted vanilla. Worker came out with a vanilla shake. When I paused she scoffed and asked, "what's wrong now!?" And I told her I ordered a chocolate shake. She points to the first one (now in the trash bc she told me she couldn't take it back and add more) and goes, "that WAS a chocolate shake. Now I've wasted $20 worth of product because of you!" The workers ignore the self serve tap screen orders. We waited and waited for someone to respond to order request and no one showed up. Why to have those screens if no one pays attention. I don't recommend this location. Inconvenient and lousy. read more

One thing about me? I love sonic and I love a corndog! This was a GOOD sonic. The corndog came out piping hot and the onion rings were perfectly crispy. Sometimes you just need that type of snack! The carhop was super friendly. :) read more

Worst possible customer service. October 10, 2025 at 12:20 pm. They were not busy. No one would take our order even though we tried 4 times at two different kiosks, two times by getting out of the car and asking for help. The two attendants, one female one male, were rude to the extreme. We finally had to just drive away. One customer complained that he had been waiting 10 minutes for his order. Lordy, i wish I had read the reviews first! First off the drive through was closed with cars just parked in the lane. Then we pulled up and it took 26 minutes to get a burger, pickle fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers. Then sauces, straws, etc were missing..took longer to get those. The items that we got were barely filled to what I would say was a full order. Saying that, the food was good---but experience was sub par. All of the drive up are actually closed and they are taking people through the drive-in because they are not staffed enough to be able to have people go to each vehicle. They announce very politely, but unfortunately because of the staffing situation they're only doing drive-through. I did a walk up and they brought my drink out immediately. Very polite. Gracious. I've been watching the cars go through the drive-through and they're getting him in and getting him out and I don't see any complaints from anybody photo order being messed up or anything else. This was the worst Sonic we have ever been too. Customer service from the start was bad. But can easily blamed on any young man wouldn't want to be working on a Saturday night. However, there's no excuse for terrible quality in food. We ordered 2 Sonic blasts. One with oreo cookie, and the other with peanut butter and Reese's peanut butter cup. Car hop dude gave us our blasts. One had a couple little pieces of oreo cookie on top, and the other had a bit of Reeses peanut butter cup on top. Neither blast contained more than what was on top. My spouse went to the window and got the attention of one of the employees. He came outside, and she explained the issue. The employee told her "it's in the ice cream: and it's the standard amount." As she was trying to say something else, the employee turned his back to her and walked back inside. We threw out the crappy Blasts, and went to McDonalds. Don't waste your time or money here. August 2025 I will be calling corporate. I will be posting in several platforms by the way we were treated by this mean girl. I would've got her name but she hid it. This happened 08.08.2025 between 1130am and 12 noon. I plead with management to pull the video. She is described as a skinny, young brat girl, dark red/black hair. Terribly long black fingernails and a horrible personality. Yes, she was mean all 6 days we went there on our vacation up in the mountains. Shes just nasty. I'm not being mean, but this girl just has a nasty everything about her. I just want management to know not only was she rude to a pediatric nurse, but 2 military combat veterans who fought for this country so she can act like an a$$hole. No one was rude to her. She refused service bc the nurse asked where is my side when I ordered the combo? We heard her order outside. Well, that's where this nasty girl took it upon herself to be rude to everyone in the group when no one did anything wrong. I will definitely make sure she either loses her job, bc clearly she's not entitled to work where customers are, but I will put her on blast. The video says it all. I encourage mgmt to pull the video and prove differently. PROVE ME WRONG, I DARE YOU!!! I would love to be shown were we did anything wrong. She was nasty to us. I guarantee this...it will go further. I'm a retired accountant. I have all the time in the world to pursue this!!! I will too...promise!! My daughter and I were visiting Salida for a few days last week and we just wanted a simple, cheap dinner so we decided to order Sonic through the app and pick it up. I ordered a cheeseburger and a corn dog while my daughter ordered a corn dog kids meal. We pulled into a stall, checked in, and waited for a few minutes. We got our food from the employee, who was super nice, and we went on our way back to our hotel. I should have looked in the bag, so this is a tad on me, but they didn't give me any of the sauces that I 'ordered' in the app. Not a huge deal but I wish they would have included the sauces. I don't even like Sonic to begin with, but every once in a while, I forget why I don't like them, and I drive up and order something that I feel like should be hard to mess up. After a competing restaurant down the road was found to be out of ice cream, I brought the whole family to Sonic for dessert. We got 2 shakes, and 3 blasts. The blasts were not mixed at all. Candy underneath a full cup of vanilla ice cream. We couldn't even tell which ones were which flavor! One shake was "like water," and the other one was too thick to drink with a straw. If I could give this place a zero, I would. I ordered our food online, and he it sat there for over half an hour. I had to go in and ask them where it was and it had been sitting there. They were not busy they were standing around. I asked if the food was still warm, they said yes. It was stone cold. The fries were missing, most of the drink in the ice was melted. I ordered a medium cheddar peppers, and I got a small. When I said something to the server girl who I had tipped in advanced, and wished I never had. She gave me a mouthful of sass on how would I like to go in and work in there and they had five new people, and basically what was the matter with me! Extremely unprofessional. Hands down the best sonic in Colorado and I have been to many sonics throughout the state for pleasure. This place is run by some top notch staff. First I ordered a breakfast burrito that was served promptly and piping hot. It was so good that I ordered another that was just as hot but after taking a few bites I realized the bacon was the BEST IVE EVER HAD! It was so good I had to go back into the drive thru for another. When I pulled up I realized I was so excited I had past the speaker. And then I saw the manager cleaning something. If I could give zero stars, I would. Ordered the 5 piece chicken dinner combo. Which onthe menu says it comes with the gravy for the texas toast, 5 strips, tater tots and choice of dipping sauce. I was handed 3 over cooked pieces, no gravy for the wimpy toast. Girl seemed surprised I expected what I ordered. She took it back , and brought me back 5 pieces, no gravy. Don't eat here! we waited 10 minutes in drive thru before someone acknowledged us. Ordered and they screwed the drink up. Fry's weren't even warm. Handed us our drinks and ice cream with ice cream all over the outside of the cup. Worst service ever. Drive thru had two cars parked ahead of us!! I would NEVER eat there again! The chicken sandwiches were all very dry and thin and the popcorn chicken was 85% bread crumbs per bite and very dry as well. The drink was gone in three sips and was filled to the top with ice. They forgot to include the tots that was part of the meal combo we ordered. The menu is also very deceiving as the chicken slinger was smaller than the palm of my hand and costed a ridiculous $2.96, many of the items on the menu are very overpriced and overall not worth the food quality that you are receiving. read more

What a disappointment! Sonic please DO BETTER than this!!!! The health department needs to make a visit and take notice what this Sonic location looks like and what they are serving their customers. I'm completely horrified of this location of food, bathroom and staff. Staff should be trained on a safe food handling class. Shouldn't the cooks have a certificate? Long story short, 2 family members and I stopped here after a 3 hour trip. We are locals not far from the area, so we have been to this location before. Yes, we all know there is a short of workers and deliveries etc.... In the world today!!!! But there is no excuse that a Sonic location would serve customers like they are feeding dogs! That's how I felt we were served. "Dogs" there is no other way to describe it. I got nauseous after the first 2 bites, I got the chicken slinger, well, I thought it was chicken, not even sure what it was to be honest. It didn't look like chicken at all. I threw it out. Instead of going back into the long line of cars and waiting to exchange or complain and show the staff member for something else I just left with complete disappointment and sad that Sonic employee's would treat customers this way, there was a lot more to complain about the other meals we all got from onion rings to a breakfast burrito, all disgusting! Plus the bathroom, OMG what a disgrace, and dirty! I didn't even touch anything in bathroom, no soap no paper towels to TP, I mean you couldn't even use the bathroom, why didn't they just shut the location down if they were short of help to function for the day instead of robbing customers of their money! If there was no soap, how are the employees washing their hands is my main concern. This may be one of the reasons one of my family members got sick eating here!! There was only two employees working during the visit, which the lady in drive-thru explained before even ordering. I saw here walking back to help the one cook with orders while waiting in line after she ran my credit card. I really hope she didn't touch the food after handling money and taking credit cards without washing hands and not changing her gloves out since they were short staffed just help the cook. I really hope this was not the case Hopefully this problem and location will clean up there act! Until then, I will not EVER return here and spend my money on a dump!!!! Went here on April 23rd 2022, and to all who are reading reviews, stay away from this location unless you want an upset stomach, diarrhea, poor service, unsanitary bathrooms (no t.p. forced to use paper towels for cleaning oneself) and food quality that is below any standard of safe food practices. Cooperate obviously is choosing to allow this to continue. This location needs the be shut down until it can be properly staffed, and trained! Until then DO NOT eat here!!
