My coworker kept talking about how delicious the food at this restaurants was. I'm a foodie so u had to try for myself. I got a medium size stew pea with dumpling and white rice and steam cabbage. My friend decided to get a small. We can right in while they was removing breakfast and going into lunch. My stew pea with dumpling with a bit salty but delicious. It's a no for me with this one: Well I can't speak for the service because i never entered the establishment. However I got a large oxtail with white rice and mac n cheese for about $25. Of course I've had better tasting oxtail from others, but what made me take the time out to even write this review is the simple fact that it took an extra 15min for me to eat at least 1/2 of this meal. The amount of thyme stems/roots that I found was noticeably annoying. I couldn't enjoy ONE BITE of food without removing a rather large "stick" or "stem" of whatever herb was used. The food here was so delicious that I had to make another trip. My friend took me here and I just ordered what he got which was lo mein, barbecue chicken wings, oxtail gravy and macaroni salad. The food was soooo good. I decided to go there again but I made sure to call first because I know how some Caribbean spots are--running out of food real quick. I wanted those barbecue wings and as luck would have it, they had it. I got the wings with the macaroni salad and lo mein. They are definitely not stingy with the food. I got two medium container which were $9 each. I thought the service was good--I will say say that service was faster on my second visit that on the first. On the first visit, there was just one person helping customers. She had to share out food, answer the phone and cashing out customers (it was like an episode of Hey Mon). However, on my second visit, she had help and it was during the week. It's a small place--a few two seater tables, most people get their food to go. All in all, the food at here is really good. My husband has this theory that if food is made in the hood then it must be very good! He's definitely right regarding his statement. Also,if the servers aren't rude then the food isn't good. They were quite pleasant so I was a little worried. I have to tell you, this place is extremely good! I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas. I also got some macaroni salad with that. We usually order different dishes so we can try each other's food. He got jerk chicken and rice and peas. He got the cabbage with his meal. It was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm not sure if its because I was starving or not but everything was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Their portions are very generous and for the price, the drive from Queens was certainly worth it! Now, if you googled this place thinking its a sit down restaurant, it isnt! This place does have seating but trust me, eating there is very awkward because the majority of the people that order here either pick up from uber eats or carry out. Got oxtails with rice and peas and potato salad (idk just kinda went for it) and everything was amazing. Oxtail is intensely flavored and seasoned. Rice was a little dry for my taste. I didn't know if I was going to regret the potato salad (this big mayo-y goop) on top of my hot rice and oxtails but somehow it worked out and everything tasted great. There is no pricing information up which is how they get away with this nonsense. The food here is good. We stop in all the time on the way home from work for a quick dinner. We like the stew chicken and oxtails. I would only give it three stars thought because they are constantly running out of food at dinner. Sometimes there are no plantain, sometimes no cabbage. The food here is great. I ordered the curry goat with rice and peas. A side of a cabbage and sweet plaintains came with the plate. The portions were huge, more than you usually get when ordering a large plate from a jamaican restaurant. Unless you have an appetite like mine you will not finish the large plate. I've been going there for a year and a half and lately they been slacking, I asked the lady for only meat and dumpling in my soup and instead she gives me nothing but fatness and dumpling with extra stuff.i told her I didn't want! Decided to walk in one day and tried the vegetable rice with sweet and sour chicken and quite honestly I think it took me less then 5 minutes until I polished it off.
