    Curried Goat Dinner

I live nearby and this is my go to spot for a classic plate of caribbean food whether you want jerk chicken, bbq chicken, or oxtail. and they've got all the yummy fruit based juices to match. It's a small shop but the food is made great every time and I never find myself waiting more than 15 minutes

A local friend n I went here on Saturday Morning around 12-1a and they were open I love Caribbean food and when walking in, the food smell hit you right from thE door. Inside is small and narrow so no seating. They sell different drinks from Caribbean to American. Prices are reasonable as they sell either medium or large plates. They have a hot bar with Macaroni Pie, stew chicken, jerk, curry shrimp, rice and peas, noodles, cabbage to name a few. I had the curry shrimp with Macaroni pie and cabbage and it was amazing! The flavors were so good. I would recommend anyone visiting NY that's on the Utica side to check out thIs place.

It was about midnight and me and my friends were thinking about where we should eat. I remembered that Royal stays open super late. We went in and the good smell of food hit us. We all ordered a medium plate of jerk chicken with rice and peas. Omg the jerk chicken was sooo perfect. Smoked to perfection and not too spicy. I also added a little barbecue sauce to make it more sweet. The rice wasn't my favorite but it was doable. The food was so abundant that I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I also ordered a piece of breadfruit and it was delicious. This is the best place to come for a midnight meal

Just like the oxymoron that is the namesake- this spot is a well oiled machine that delivers delicious soul food. You just don't go wrong with a joint that is 24/7(?!) with a kitchen area 3x the size of the order counter. While they can only fit about 5 patrons at a time the counter is end to end filled with meats, carbs, veggies and shrimp. To the right wall, prices are afixed to the platters taped to the wall. I opted for oxtail, rice & peas and cabbage. And small jerk chicken with Rasta pasta. Legitimately flavorful; the oxtail was fatty, fall off bone sweetly stewed over some of the best rice and peas. Jerk was moist and seasoned (not to death either) and Rasta was like a loose Alfredo that's al dente and spicy. This place is good.

I'm very much disappointed with this restaurant way too expensive for a small business food Is terrible to be so much why is the medium curry goat $26 dollars now that's ridiculous rip off

Amazing..We drive the family every other Sunday to Brooklyn just for jerk chicken and festivities.

Amazing jerk food and wonderful ladies serving the food. My family and I come here every two weeks for the jerk chicken and festivals.

My favorite was their chicken, eggplant and salted fish claypot dish. It's one of my favorite dishes in general and they made it very well. Definitely will come here more often and will rec my family to try this place out for our next family event.

The meal includes geoduck sashimi, jellyfish & mixed appetizer, soup, steamed fish, crab & lobster with sticky rice, abalone, steamed shrimp, noodles, and veggies. Some dishes were bigger than others. Both times I came they didn't have abalone so we substitute the dish for garlic scallop (which I prefer). The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. They have pretty large tables, suitable for parties and celebrations. There's a private space upstairs with 3 large tables for parties. The restaurant is pretty slow in the afternoon.

Before we ordered the Mother's Day special, I specifically asked the waitress if she would like her tip in cash and she said of course! The special was $95/person plus a 20% TIP ($38) which was $228! See photo below! We ordered some other items and the waitress gave me my bill for $252.86. We then drove 10 blocks to Chase to get out cash for her. I then noticed that I was charged $298.86. It was the $252.86 plus a TIP of $45.20! I immediately returned to discuss the discrepancies. The tip that was supposed to be $38 was now $45.20! The waitress then said she would credit my account. My question was how did this happen! All three waitresses stated it was not them and that the machine did this! How was this possible? Not one of them took responsibility for the discrepancies! Had I not looked at my bank statement then I would never have known that I would be tipping her twice! I then decided to leave to explain to my mom! Then the short Indian (I think) than sarcastically stated "Oh so now you're not going to tip us" Really! I drove 10 blocks and I NEVER ONCE STATED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO TIP HER! I merely was going to let my mom know what happened and then TIP her! Note* I was going to give her a $100 cash TIP! Had she given me the REAL receipt with the $45 TIP then I would have given her $50 CASH but since she only produced the REAL receipt after I came back (how ironic) and told her she charged the wrong amount, she would have received $100 TIP. But since the short Indian waitress made that slick remark, she did not receive anything! After the disrespect and blaming the machine and giving me a fake receipt? I decided to leave! If this is how you conduct business then you just lost a great customer! PS! The food was great!

It's got a solid, nautical feel that gives you enough brass and wood to feel like a real lobster shack. They've got a generous stretch of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, and inside, the music sits at a good volume. Then comes the food. I started with the clam chowder. It's good ...comforting, rich, well-made ......even if it's a little light on the minced clams. I caught myself digging around with my spoon, searching for a few more chunks of clam in the creamy broth, but I forgave it because the flavor was fantastic. Main event: the Maine lobster roll. Now look, I've eaten lobster rolls all over the Northeast..and a few other places. When you order a lobster roll, you're looking for flavor and simplicity. Red Hook's roll is good. The lobster is fresh. But here's the thing: at an overall tab running around $80 a head, you expect a top-tier entry into the culinary lobster roll pantheon. Instead, it lands on the smaller side of the spectrum. Worse, the kitchen holds back on the seasoning. Lobster is sweet and rich, sure, but it needs a little help...... a hint of herbs, or just a generous hand with the salt/pepper to elevate it from good to great. It's a good roll, but when the check landed, I couldn't help feeling a bit let down. To finish, I looked at the dessert choices. Options were slim, but I ordered the flourless chocolate cake and it did the job. I'll definitely give this place a second visit and possibly try some of the other items on their menu.
