The outfits in the windows caught my eyes, but the 50% off SALE sign got me in thr door. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything for me on the sale racks. I decided to walk around and the salesperson helped me find sizes and styles I showed an interest towards. Meanwhile, hubby sat and waited as I tried on different outfits. I really loved the eclectic style of Simple Life! The clothing had a boho European air, almost a mix of Greek and Turkish designs without the embroidery. Think Frankie from Grace and Frankie and you've got it. After wanting to pick up a gift for the honey's grandma I found the perfect multi-hued scarf at Simple Life. The service was vibrant and the honey's grandma loved the gift. All in all I would definitely come back! read more

I have been a fan of Simple Life from way back when it was Passport. The clothes are always wonderful and the staff are friendly and helpful. One always feels that you have all the time in the world to just play with various outfits, and if you want suggestions, the help is there. While the clothing options haven't really changed, the current owner has very poor customer service, at times failing to even acknowledge your presence in the store. Walked into FreePeople and their selection was limited and for more of a teenager crowd. After walking a few blocks I saw in the window flowly clothes similar to Eileen Fisher style. I was with my husband and coached him into the store. lol (no men's clothes) With the great music and the sale lady talking up a storm with my husband (Thank God) I found two pairs of fun pants! I normally don't write reviews for clothing stores as they are subject to the individual's style but felt this was worth it! I happened upon the Simple Life while heading to Fluevogs on the same block. I love comfortable clothing with a classic look and quality and was immediately drawn in by the window displays. URU is one of my favorite brands and they had the best selection I've seen yet! The great customer service won me over as well, I like to be left alone while I wander and peruse and I want full attention when I'm ready to make decisions and that's what I got. I felt like I made a new friend with great closet full of treasures. If I lived closer I'd shop here often and am sure to make it part of my Seattle routine whenever I am in town. read more

Love this store! They have a wide selection of styles/fabrics, a good range of price points, friendly staff, a great (!!!) sale rack, and just great clothes!! They also have a small selection for accessories. I love shopping here, and knowing that I'm not going to walk out into the street and come face-to-face with someone else wearing the same thing I'm wearing (as with big-box retailers). My one "gripe" would've the difficulty getting the fitting room drapes closed enough... they could be a little wider so customers don't feel people can see in the cracks. But it's definitely not so bad that it becomes a deal breaker. read more

I wanted to share a recent experience I had at Simple Life. For background/context, I am new to Seattle (moved from DC/Denver to Seattle 5 months ago). I am a boutique-shopper and was happy to stumble upon Simple Life this past Sunday (23 Sept). I found a "jacket" on the sale rack that I really liked. The price tag was confusing: 1) The hand-written sale price was $127.99 and also had a 50% off dot; 2) I assumed the actual cost was 50% off of the $127.99; 3) I asked the Sales Associate to confirm the actual price and she said "it's 50% off the regular price;" 4) Confused -- I went back to check the sale sign and there was no stated reference to the percentage off being applied to only the regular price. I communicated this to the Sales Associate and she said: "that's what it is." 5) We went back and forth about how the sale/price tag was misleading. I also thought and in some ways expected that she would understand how the price was misleading and give me the benefit of the sale as a new customer. She did not. 6) I also asked whether she could call someone else to discuss the price discrepancy and she flatly said: "no." At that point, I was not only disappointed but just felt that I was not heard as a Customer. Given that this was my first experience at Simple Life, I am NOT inclined to return. Hope you will use my experience and subsequent review to provide more accurate signage for others who patronage your boutique. read more

If you like texture and floaty grown up hippie clothes, this is your spot. It's pricey, but everything is well made. They have an email list and will send you sale notices and sometimes coupons. The staff are really knowledgeable ( no, that won't shrink is a statement you can trust) and not at all in your business unless you ask. I'm saving up for scarves and sweaters, but this is the only spot in Seattle where I've found pants that actually fit me, so those I get to buy (at least when there's a sale and I drag the boy along to validate). read more

I've been shopping at Simple Life (Passport)for the past 15 years. I've come to realize that just about everything I own from my Nomad pants, to Fat Hat tops, Beyond Threads coat, Baggallini purses in every color, Two Dog yoga pants, Bryn Walker sweaters, and my favorite of favorites: Asian Eye scarves ALL come from Simple LIfe. Kathy, has been like a personnel shopper for me, helping to co-ordinate outfits and point out new arrivals. She always remembers what I like from previous visits. There is no other store like it in Seattle where you get so much attention and it is always fun to shop there. I often get compliments on my clothing and when asked where I shop, I always say: Simple Life, on the corner of 2nd and Pine across from the Rack! What attracted me was the $20 clear bubble umbrellas on display. $20 is actually very reasonable for a bubble umbrella. I've seen them more in Vancouver. Of course being Seattle it is important to have some awesome rain gear. The rest of the shop had awesome clothes, however, a little out of my fashion and price range. Visiting Seattle for the first time and it was love at first sight when I walked past the window of this shop. I live in a small town with little access to interesting clothing and I had a blissful hour trying on everything in sight. The service was wonderful with lots of good, candid advice on what worked and what didn't. I ended up with enough wonderful clothing to fill the extra suitcase I had brought to Seattle just in case. i just got back from this wonderful store and wanted to review while the experience was fresh. Kemba was the sales person that helped me. She was very friendly, saying hello as soon as I walked in the door. While I was in the dressing room she brought me sizes and also came up with ideas. She wasn't pushy at all, just very attentive. I'm sorry Tree H. had a bad experience, she probably won't go back and that's a shame because this is a very nice store. I loved the accessories too, so many beautiful scarves to chose from. The quality is above normal, I bought all different brands, all made in different countries. The knit hats and fingerless gloves were really nice. There is a big sale area too and a nice place to sit comfortably if you are waiting for someone to shop. While I was there several people came in, some bought and all were treated well. I really dislike the department store experience where no one cares, this store cares...and it shows. I was there for a long time and bought 8 items. You get a $25 credit for each $500 spent. They keep it in the computer and it will be available the next time you shop. I will definitely go back. read more

I've shopped here a few times over the years as my office isn't too far away. My experience there today was one I just had to share. I purchased a purse several weeks ago, but since it was a bright spring/summer color, I set it aside in the shopping bag to wait for the right weather/season to arrive. When I pulled it out over the weekend and snipped off the tags to start using it, I saw that one of the metal grommets on the bag was missing. It was a $100 bag, and I was sorely disappointed. Took it back to the store today after checking the manufacturer's website for warranty info (1 year, but only accepted returns if you bought it online directly from them; otherwise, return it to your retailer) and received a total refund without issue. It was well after their stated return period, and even after the "return for store credit" had passed, but they were completely accommodating and apologized several times for my inconvenience and disappointment.
