It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!

I liked the toasted slider rolls, the tangy sauce and the spiciness of the meatball. Recommend cutting it in half to eat it without it flying out of the roll. Overall a good start. I ordered the gnocchi primavera which really wasn't in the traditional sense - as the vegetables were puréed together into an orange sauce. Had a good flavor and was served with burrata. Starters and entrees came out very close to each other which wasn't a bad thing. We also added a margherita pizza to share which looked weird - but tasted great. Nice crisp to the crust and thin. I usually think of a doughier crust with this kind of pizza but still good. Dessert was the fudge cake - rich in flavor, adding a coffee. Overall - would have loved to sit inside and get that experience but still good considering we didn't have a reservation. Our waiter - younger guy out back we good, though at times we leaned on the other bartender to help get refills.

Ii is a spanish restaurant and serves excellent food. I had the seafood paella (one of my favorite dishes). The rice was flavored and seasoned perfectly. It was loaded with shrimp, mussels, calamari, and My wife had the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes. For our cocktails, we had the peach sangria. Absolutely light and delicious. Our server was excellent. He made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. The dining area was very comfortable, roomy, bright, clean and nicely decorated. Eaxh booth comfortably seats anywhere from 4 to 6 customers. There is a bar offering beer, cocktails and wines. The bathrooms were spotless and modern. There is paid street parking. It's rare to get great customer service along with great cooking nowadays. Especially in the Frederick area, but that's a matter of opinion. I sat outside. Hands down the best place I know to get crabs, and I'll tell you exactly why…read more First, the size. They don't advertise it, but the crabs in their all you can eat are big. These are the biggest crabs I've seen anywhere at a price this reasonable. That's the whole equation right there. Which brings me to the drive. I know it sounds backwards to head inland for crabs, and yes, when you've got friends visiting and you point the car away from the water, it takes some explaining. But compare it to a place like Bethesda Crab House, where you're paying for the real estate as much as the crabs. I would rather drive forty five minutes into the country and eat better crabs for less. Those of us in 20854 make this trip constantly, and this place gets talked about in country club circles all the time for exactly that reason: outstanding crabs, unbeatable deal. It's in the same category of open secret as the lobster specials at H Mart at $12.99 a pound, sometimes down to $9.99. Everybody in the know knows. The snow crab is the other reason. It picks clean, juicy, and not too salty. It comes apart fast. No wrangling with rubbery, bendy legs. And you can get it in the all you can eat too. The place feels like a biker bar. Nothing fancy about it, but that's exactly the room you want to be in when you're eating crabs and drinking beer. It also beats Mays, the other spot people mention around there. I've eaten at both. Mays has tiny little crabs. Avery's has some big ones. Not close. And if you're bringing people who don't do seafood, the rest of the menu holds up. The ribs and everything alongside them are outstanding. I've come here with folks who were just along for the ride and watched them go to town. I tried it myself and it was legitimately that good. Last thing: Wednesdays, the all you can eat blue crabs go on sale. Plan around it if you're price conscious.

For just crabs: order takeaway from Westpointe. For bulking up on food: Avery's. I actually enjoy eating at Avery's -- but it could be so much better if they improved the sides and service. Still, I do come once a year -- contrasted to: I visit several other restaurants at least twice a month ...and get better quality seafood dishes (at a marginally higher price). Just saying...

The meal started with some of the softest bread I've had in a long time. It was warm, fluffy, and perfect for dipping into the olive oil. We could have easily eaten an entire basket! My friend and I shared the filet mignon with whipped potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked beautifully, the potatoes practically melted in your mouth, and the asparagus spears were fresh and flavorful. We also split the seafood pasta, and the portion was enormous! Loaded with seafood and packed with flavor, it was just as impressive as the steak. My friend's bf got gluten free pasta-- they have gluten free options! My friend ordered an espresso martini, which was smooth, delicious, and the perfect complement to the meal. By the end of dinner, we were absolutely stuffed and couldn't even make room for dessert--which is probably the best sign of a satisfying meal. We tried the house Cabernet and it was excellent. The server immediately brought out some bread that was nice and fresh. The plate comes with olive oil, rosemary, and a whole garlic clove for flavor. I got the basic spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were very good, tender, and flavorful. These are definitely made in house. My GF got the bolognese and let me tell you this was the star if the show. It comes with fresh made pasta (fettuccini I believe) and a great homemade sauce (you can see the carrots and other ingredients). It was exceptional and I would highly recommend. The service was okay, I believe our server had far too many tables and took about 20 minutes to cash out on a slower Wednesday dinner service. Everything else was great and we'll be sure to be back!
