If they do come out to look at something and a second trip is required, it is hard to get them to come back. I think the crux of their problem is two fold: 1 - they make more money on new installs so they focus on that pushing lower dollar repairs down their priority list 2 - the person that answers the phone and interacts with people does not have the authority or ability to make appointments. The individual techs themselves pick and choose when they are going to do things. (I believe the techs are the owners of the business.) This all means many customers never bubble to the top of the list to get service. I've had acquaintances say they have waited 6-12 months for Reed's and then they give up and call another company. Maybe they are just that busy, which is great for them. They are nice people, but they really struggle servicing the customers that have existing equipment. After having looked at their wiring after Reed's has installed and maintained it for years, I'm disappointed to find wiring not quite right, not labeled, and some things not working right. It's 90% correct, but just that last bit not being done is frustrating when you work on it later.

The house we moved into was a mess. The previous owners left bits and pieces of the equipment. Reed's came in, gave me options, and provided a solution that worked best for me and the caliber of the house. We worked with an AV company out of Salt Lake, when we lived there, and all they wanted to do is sell us a package deal. They've been pretty good about service. From time to time they're hard to get here, but I know they're gonna take care of me. They can get busy. They've been around for a long time. They've got the experience and ingenuity. Their workmanship is top notch.

Very poor service. They do not complete installations as promised, and will send surprise bills…read morewithout any explanation ahead of time. We initially called different companies to get quotes for security system installations, and made it clear that we were looking for a company that was available within 1-2 weeks. If they couldn't do this, we had no issue, and would just have used another company. However, Zions' salesperson assured us that this would be no issue, and was initially very helpful on the phone. He let us know that they could not schedule us until we signed the contract, although he was saving a spot for us (in hindsight this should have been the first red flag). But, we ended up signing the contract with the understanding that our system would be installed on an afternoon that week. We were promised the installation would take no more than 4-6 hours, and would be completed that day. We had to take time off of work to be there for the technician, since they told us they could not do weekend installs. That's where everything went downhill. This company does not install anything themselves. They use subcontractors, and are not even based in the same state as the subcontractors. Knowing this now, it is no surprise that the quality of their work is poor. The installation for our system -- which we were told would take half a day -- ended up taking more than 15 hours over a period of 2.5 weeks. We had to take multiple days off of work to be home, and sometimes no one would even show up. Finally, after 2.5 weeks and after they sent a different subcontractor (who was much better than the first, and commented on the poor workmanship of the first subcontractor), our system was finally set up. We were never offered so much as an apology for this. We were given less than a 3% discount on the installation and were never offered even an apology for the multiple days of work we had to miss, as well as the times where no one even showed up despite the company confirming an appointment. Fast forward 2.5 months, one of the cameras stops working. So we call Zions to come fix it and are told they will send someone out. They end up sending someone 12 days later, who fixes the issue (likely caused by the first subcontractor's error and faulty installation which eventually failed). Then, we get a bill from Zions for this visit, which we were dumbfounded by given the fact that no one had informed us that there would be a charge for having the technician come fix the issue that the first subcontractor caused. When speaking with the company, their response was essentially "sorry we didn't tell you about the cost upfront, but too bad". They then said that they also forgot to charge us for part of the initial installation (the botched one which required 2 subcontractors, 15 hours, over 2.5 weeks), and they would be sending a bill for that as well. If you're looking for a security system with good customer service, I would highly encourage you to look elsewhere, and find a company that stands by their work and does not subcontract from another state. This company is interested in generating revenue from sales, but as soon as you sign up, the customer service stops.
