This was my go to gyro place in Edmond. It's not anymore! I went and ordered a gyro with fries they gave me rice. I didnt realize it till I drove all the way home. I also realized they didnt give me any sauce for my gyro, so I drove up there and told them they gave me rice instead of fries and forgot my sauce for the gyro. He gave me the sauce and would not give me the fries.... So I guess the customer isn't always right here. Got home with the sauce and the gyro was cold, worst Gyro ever... Food is always great and the staff is very friendly. We've been going there for years and I highly recommend this place. Tonight we placed our to go order (to be picked up) through the restaurant's Yelp page. I usually use Simply Falafel's own website to order, but used Yelp's without thinking. After placing my order, I realized the price seemed higher than usual. While waiting for my food, I checked and confirmed the prices for the food you order through Yelp's website are significantly higher than if you use the restaurant's. I ended up paying $11 more than if I had ordered through Simply Falafel's website. I have nothing negative to say about Simply Falafel, but I do about Yelp. My meal had a 25% surcharge just because I placed the order through their website. If they are going to do that, they should disclose it. I've been an active user of Yelp but this is not acceptable. If I could rate Yelp, they'd be lucky to get one star from me. Simply Falafel gets 5 nonetheless. read more

We are regulars here at Simply Falafel and we've enjoyed every visit. Today we ordered food family style and Majid, the owner set us up. We let him know we had guests coming home and he told us that he would get us what we needed. We got a platter with gyro meat and chicken along with Basmati rice. This is a must in Edmond if you are a fan of Mediterranean cuisine! I live in Edmond and never even heard of it until browsing around online on the many rewards channels they are on (Rapid Rewards Dining, Yelp, and Dosh). I thought I would give it a try based on the yelp rating! I am so happy I did because now I am a regular. I enjoyed the chicken gyro with basmati rice with falafel patties! The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly and loaded with lots of veggies and taziki sauce. The falafal patties are one of the best in the city. The hummus was good, but nothing special, in my opinion. Not only did I enjoy the meal, but I walked away with some rewards on my accounts. Also, they have a kids menu that include Mediterranean food and American food to appease the picky eaters! The atmosphere felt family-owned (which it is!). Simply Falafel has some of the best Mediterranean food Oklahoma has to offer! In fact I enjoy the food so much, that it has become my go-to location when I am in the mood for this type of cuisine. I've had the gyro, fries and drink combo numerous times. The food, especially the fries, is always seasoned exceptionally well. Not only does the food taste great but the price is very affordable. To get that great tasting combo for $6.25-$7 is very reasonable in my opinion. Located just off of E 2nd St, this place is very student friendly and it's not uncommon to see UCO students there. While there, you really get a sense that the staff cares about their customers. I've seen the manager come out to the seating area and just simply engage customers in conversations about what's going on in their lives. On a different date, a couple ordered something that they had recently ran out of. The same manager apologized to the couple, refunded their money for that particular item and offered to give them a comparable replacement on the house. This is a great Mediterranean style restaurant, for both Togo and sit-down occasions! I've been here twice now and tonight was a fantastic experience. The food is cheaply priced, tasty and came in large portion sizes! The workers are always smiling and helpful, and the owner came to the table not once, not twice, but three times and even gave my younger sisters complimentary popsicles. Had the gyro and falafel plate and the chicken shawarma sandwich with fries. The chicken shawarma was super juicy and flavorful. The fries were fresh and well seasoned. Tasted like McDonalds fries to me. The gyro meat was cut thick and very moist and tasty. The basmati rice was buttery and delicious. The owner was so friendly! He made sure our table was happy with everything and I saw him going around to other tables to make sure they were good too. The food itself was great. The gyro sandwich had thick well seasoned and moist slices of meat and was piled high. The fries were seasoned well and an order was plenty to share. The blackened chicken platter was ok, a little expensive for sliced chicken and a huge side of rice. I would get the chicken sandwich next time instead. The chicken itself tasted good though. Also had a tomato basil soup which was a little sweeter than we expected, but I actually enjoyed it. Our toddler made a mess eating it but he clearly liked it! At first glance, there was nothing about this place that especially grabbed my attention. I ended up here with my parents since my dad was craving falafel and I was in need of eating something that didn't come from a drive-thru. My step-mom had never tried falafel before, so it was a bit of a gamble coming here. If my star rating is any indication, we were very pleased with the outcome! First of all, when you step inside the place it looks much more welcoming. The handwritten menu on the wall is cute and easy to read. We were greeted warmly by the owner and a friendly staff member. The owner even helped my parents pick out what to get (my mind was set on the falafel platter). For starters, we ordered the dolma (stuffed grape leaves), which were really warm and fresh. I'd never had them warm before, but I loved how they were clearly straight from the kitchen. I ordered a tabouli salad with my meal, which also tasted amazingly fresh. The owner shared with us that he does not use any cilantro or mint, but uses a great deal of parsley and a little cracked wheat. I made sure to save some for my meal. The falafel were excellent, which was good since my expectations were set pretty high for Simply Falafel. My dad loved his gyros so much, he got a second helping (compliments of the owner, very nice). The basmati rice was warm, and the pita bread was some of the best I've had. The yogurt sauce was chunky, not as pungent as some I've had. The veggies on the side were fresh and delicious. We were regularly checked on by the charismatic owner, who was eager to be as accommodating as possible. He came out with samples of their namoura, free of charge. It was piping hot and super sweet. Made from syrup, sesame, and NOT honey! We were then brought complimentary cups of Turkish coffee to finish off the meal. What service! I am obsessed with Simply Falafel. If I lived closer to Edmond, I'd probably eat dinner here every night. I've tried their lamb, kofta, and falafel gyros. All three are extremely delicious. I plan to try all of their various entrees eventually. I placed an order from my Yelp app around 8:30 one night (they closed at 9pm). I arrived at the location to pick up my meal at 8:40, the employees were so kind and my meal was already prepared. I had to wait a few minutes for them to package it. For the wait he offered me free piece of baklava. I was very impressed, after that experience I ate at the restaurant two more times. Super impressed. I ordered using Yelp24 and my order was ready upon arrival, as it said it would be. When I walked up to the counter the phone was ringing non stop and the cashier was trying to answer the phone and give someone directions. Not my best customer service experience, but I kept a smile on and eventually the owner came up and checked me out, gave me an excess of change, I'm assuming for my trouble. The cashier told him to just give me the $3+ and the owner just said "take this" and handed me a $5. I appreciated this gesture and will give them a try as a walk in because of it. I went here with a few friends of mine while visiting Oklahoma again. I guess this is a nice change from some of the other options for food near the UCO campus. The hostess/cashier extraordinaire was very polite and personable and took the time to explain the items they offer. They have a picture of almost every item on the menu blown up to larger than actual size posted on a wall within the dining area. That really helps since it was my first time and I was like, "What the fudge is all this stuff?" Now when the order came out, I was almost overwhelmed but how much food came out. Plate after plate after plate after plate came out of the kitchen. I believe that the combos are basically three items, but three very large items they are. Each one comes out on it's own dinner plate. Not a tea cup plate a large huge gargantuan dinner plate. This is probably typical of this genre of food. There are many options for vegetarians so don't turn up your nose at the sight of all the meat options. Back to the story at hand. Honestly, many of the sides are common between the combos so you may be better off getting single items and then sharing a huge hummus or baba ghanouj. Everything is fresh though, which is great. Now I only give this 3 stars because the hummus was pretty standard and practically flavorless. There wasn't anything original about it. And again I think the sheer magnitude of the portions did actually overwhelm me a bit. My hummus plate was practically 2 cups of hummus. Then I had the baba ghanouj which was like another 2 cups and then pita bread and then a huge basket of falafel. The baba ghanouj actually tasted like the hummus but more tuna fishy-ish. I kept saying to myself, "Why did I get two of the same thing?" The owner came to our table to chat and saw that I was eating much and asked if there was something wrong. I said "It's a lot." He said "We eat big, my friend". He was also very kind and personable and you don't see that much anymore where the owner actually comes out and talks to the guests. The falafel and the dipping sauce was pretty good and fragrant, but I couldn't get full off just falafel and a small helping of hummus. I didn't even bother with the baba ghanouj. What maybe would have maid the items I had a little better would have been a little salt or garlic or any sort of spice to enhance the flavor. I will say you certainly get a lot for your money.
