Ordered dinner online for pickup at their website, which is super helpful with pictures and descriptions. There was a small parking lot in front of the restaurant. The restaurant looks clean and the service was good. I would say outside the restaurant, the location looks run down with shady characters around. But don't judge the food by the location. Now, for the food. Bok-lo-hong (Papaya Salad). This is shredded green papaya, tomatoes, shrimp paste, fresh lime juice, fish sauce tossed in a mortar and pestle served with cabbage and basil. This was alright. In my opinion, not the best papaya salad I've had. I've only had the Thai versions, which seemed to be less marinated but this version is not bad. Kuy-Tiew Special is rice Noodles, sliced beef, beef meatballs and assorted seafood in house broth, topped with cilantro, scallions and fried garlic. Bean sprouts served on the side. This is good. The only way I can describe it is it is like Vietnamese pho but with a sweet broth. It is an acquired taste if you have pho often. Mee Ka-tahng Seafood is stir fried flat rice noodles with assorted seafood and Chinese broccoli in house gravy sauce. The only way I can describe this is it is similar to the chinese "chow fun" but with seafood. It was good but kind of basic and nothing mind-blowing. Cha Sach Jrouk Tofu (Stir Fried Pork and Tofu) is stir fried ground pork, tofu, scallions and red chilies in house sauce. This was good. Tastes basic, as you would expect with the listed ingredients. Amok Trey is boneless tilapia fillets cooked in coconut milk sauce flavored with lemon grass, shallots and kaffir lime leaves. Served over steamed Chinese broccoli in a banana leaf bowl. This was interesting. It was expensive for tilapia, which you don't get a lot of but mixed with the sauce and flavors was good. Original Khmer Loc Lac is beef and onions sauteed in a garlic and black pepper sauce over a bed of lettuce, cucumber and tomato. Served with lime black pepper sauce. I loved this. The sauce works so well with the beef and the dressing for the vegetables. Highly recommended. Cha Kroung Sach Jrouk (Lemongrass with Pork) is stir fried pork, onions, jalapeno peppers, red/green bell peppers and holy basil in kroung sauce (herbs and spice mixture made of lemongrass, garlic, turmeric, galangal and kaffir lime leaves). Very flavorful. The sauce, herbs, and spices are what you are paying for and I thought it was worth it. Nam Sach Jourk (Cured Pork) is pork, pork skin, garlic, chili, salt, sugar, spices, and fermentation mix. It is like meat cake. It is pretty good. Recommended to try. Overall, I liked everything, even though I felt some of the stuff were very basic. Some of the foods, I felt were overpriced but the overall quality was good. Everything was cooked well, despite what I thought were basic dishes. I thought they could throw in some rice for the saucy dishes but they didn't. I decided to keep it local this time and get some comfort food. So I went and visited my favorite restaurant for Cambodian food, Simply Khmer. I usually come here to grab some Kuy-tiev (Cambodian version of Pho) but today I felt like some nice simple Bai with Sach Jrouk Chien( Rice with pork chops) and I decided to put a beautiful fried egg on top. This dish is just delicious, the pork was tender, juicy and sweet. The pickled veggies and rice just compliment each other so well. In my opinion this is a perfectly balanced dish. I had also gotten the Ye-Heu Bumpohng( Spicy fried calamari with peppers, scallions and red chillies). This was a great tasting appetizer, the calamari were thick slices that at first seem kind of tough but once you start chewing on them thats when all the flavor profiles start to come out, you have the peppery and spicy flavors all melding into one as you eat them. Solid appetizer and would definitely recommend it. Overall this is one of my favorite restaurants in the lowell area and frequent it often, The home style family oriented restaurant is a great spot for anyone looking to try delicious cambodian cuisine. I'm on the hunt for a Cambodian place in New York now after trying this place. It's simply delicious. We ordered the hot wings, the Beef Lac Lai with an over easy egg on top, and spring rolls! Really good place - like that it's very clean with good service. The Loc Lac is always a popular choice here. I also really enjoyed their kuy tiew (very similar to pho but with a noticeable sweet shallot taste in the broth). I got it phnom phen style which is pig offal- there were some pieces of liver, intestines, and meat. There wasn't as much which was fine with me since I mostly enjoy the noodles and broth. I also highly recommend the som law maju srai soup - no photo unfortunately. It's a very flavorful clear broth soup with fish or chicken plus lots of morning glory (on-choy)! Delicious with rice. I've been a long time and loyal customer at this establishment. They have always served up fantastic food here. I think the popularity and exposure got the best of them and are pushing out their local and dedicated customers to a point where they are increasing the prices that it is not affordable anymore. That's too bad because Sunday night 1/8/2024 will be our last meal there because $20.95 for a bai lok lak rice combo without a fried egg used to be $15.95 as it still states that on your menu pdf. It's marinated FLANK steak and flank isn't an expensive cut of beef. I brought up the price difference when I picked up my order and was told "we just increased the price". Talk about having a hard time swallowing that. If you don't believe me, talk to the guy that worked the counter Sunday night around 8PM or just look up the receipt in your system. I'm not supporting an establishment that's juicing their customers like that because you guys know for a fact that one of the most popular dishes there is the bai lok lak and you purposely increased the price just to get the most money out of that dish. We went here because we saw them featured on a Hulu show and I never had Cambodian food. Anyway- restaurant was quaint. It was full and we had to wait about 10 min to be seated. No big deal! They had some items for sale so we just looked at the items :)- the restaurant probably had all different race and ethnicity inside- so food must be good! We asked our server for recommendations- for apps we got the wings and the beef skewers- DELICIOUS. Wings are spicy- I loved them. I can't remember the name of the main dish but it was a fish in Khmer sauce in a boat made out of banana leaves. And white rice. We were able to share all the dishes- very hefty serving of food! It's strange how I haven't wrote a review for this place, having come here so many years. I highly recommend getting the HOT WINGS here. The wings are so good everytime! It's sweet & spicy and they are consistent with the wing size unlike bonchon eh uhm. I love the cha kroung... I think that's what it's called. It's basically minced chicken with chopped peppers, onions, etc. if you like something spicy and flavorful, you must get that! My only thing with this dish is that they tend to serve more rice than the stirfry minced chicken. The Loc Lac is another dish my bf and I frequently get as well. The meat is season well, has a hint of sweetness to it. It does come with a side of dipping sauce that you can use for the meat or veggie that comes with it. Simply Khmer was my staple when I attended school at UML back in 2013. The food was delicious then and hasn't changed much! Papaya salad, wings, and some kind of rice is the what you HAVE to get. Everytime. Yes it's that good. If you have room in your stomach still feel free to venture out to the other items on the menu but trust me you'll be coming back to the combo above. My friend and I came by for dinner and we were both super impressed with how yummy everything was! DEFINITELY order the Wings Angkor style and DEFINITELY order the Loc Lac! The portions are large, hearty, and maximum level of tastiness! The Wings Angkor were perfectly fried. They had such a satisfying crunch, all the while perfectly preserving the juicy meat. Plus everything was tossed in a slightly spicy and tangy sauce that didn't comrpromise the crispiness. AMAZINGGG! The Loc Lac was super flavorful as well. We got it with fried rice and with a fried egg. It's bite after bite of juicy, tender, marinated goodness. Seriously cannot recommend this dish enough. We even got an extra order to-go. It's THAT yummy! We also ordered the Mee Ka-Tang, which was just okay. This is our go-to place for Cambodian food, always bring guests here when we're visiting Lowell. We all agreed that the Amoc Trey is fabulous. We have been going here for twenty years and the food is really good, service excellent and staff very friendly. The Hot Wings are excellent and most certainly pack some heat and flavor. My favorite is the Som-law Ma-ju Kroeung Knoung Soup and have ordered it at least 25 times. During Covid they shut down for a while and did some renovations which were so minor that it was insignificant. The outdoor dinning was a plus in nice weather. As much as I enjoy the food they are pricing themselves way too high for the lack of ambiance, it is a mistake considering most of the dishes are served basically on a bed of raw vegetables. The soups I enjoyed for years are now $30 a bowl and with half the amount of seafood or meats. The return on investment for me is no longer there and will have to seek out alternatives which is a shame. You should try it for the food, but their heads are in the clouds when it come to value and the dining experience. read more

Customer service was lacking and there weren't even many people around, yet, it took forever to get us even drinks. I ordered the beef and ginger dish with the fried rice and it wasn't great. I could have just stayed home and make it myself. The second time, I did take out and called ahead of time to order mi gah tang. First off, they like to add a surcharge for everything. You want a lot of vegetables, surcharge. You only want the chinese broccoli, surcharge. You want a lot of noodles or more meat, surcharge. You want the sauce separated so it won't evaporate by the time you get back to your house, surcharge. It was pretty expensive to get just 2 take out containers of mi gah tang and it was mediocre! First off BYOB!! They do take Master and Visa cards. I went to Boston for lobsters and surprisingly the seafood meals were not the highlight meals of my trip but instead the STAR meal was here at Simply Khmer!! Cambodian food?! First off I'd like to make clear that I'm far from a connoisseur for Cambodian food because there really aren't any authentic ones in Manhattan and I've never been to Cambodia, butttt I do know the flavors here were excellent, spicy, salty, sweet, bitter all n 1 bite! The food was def fresh and I know that just from being a pig in general. The prices are extremely affordable 4 adults 2 kids $84 + tip... and we walked out sideways in a good way. Visited Lowell recently, bit out of the blue, and was looking for place to things to do in Lowell and this place stood out as a must-try! Ordered the spring rolls, bai/cha k'nyei (rice with stir fried ginger) and Loc Lac with fried rice. The two pieces of spring rolls were sliced in half and sat on top of a bed of lettuce beside a sweet sauce. The combination of the ground chicken with shrimp was just delightful. The plate of loc lac came next - the beef was perfectly cooked, so tender and just one small bite of the beef with the red onion and fried rice and I knew there would not be any leftovers. It did take a bit longer than expected for the rice dish to come out - but it was lunch on a weekend. There was a good half plate of white rice but the ginger tasted fantastic with just the right amount of spiciness - there was red chilies but not too much that it overpowered the chicken (my choice of protein). A good mix of the rice, ginger slices, scallions and chicken led to a perfect bite! Service-wise, as mentioned above, was adequate but it seemed like there was a lot of staff walking around but not many focused on customer service...I will say though that it was an afternoon on a weekend and we had gotten the last empty table. STILL no one came by to refill our waters the whole there we were there and the by the time the second dish came out, my friend was already more than halfway through theirs - because it was delicious, as I said! So still giving 5-stars because the food was A+! read more

We have eaten here several times, and it is always wonderful. I learned to love Khmer cuisine in several trips to Cambodia, and Simply Khmer is the best I have found in the US. The flavors truly "pop" here, perhaps reflecting lengthy French occupation of Cambodia. Just go and try anything on the menu. Do be aware of your tolerance for spicy and tell your server. Hot Wings - A Must, they're not really spicy but are very flavorful Crispy Wings - What they sound like. They're kind of plain. Som-Law Ma-Ju Kroung Sach Ko - A personal favorite, its the green soup with cambodian watercress, and beef. Som-Law Maju Youn Seafood - I didn't have this, but if its any indication, it went faster than the other soup. Pineapple Fried rice w/ Chicken - It comes in a Pineapple! 2 orders of the Fried Loc Lac - This is the cubed beef one that comes dry. 1 Traditional Loc Lac - A sliced beef with a gravy sauce, this is really good. Squid - its passable :/ P'Set Kop - Its a pork and mushroom dip with assorted vegetables. Its actually much sweeter than I was expecting. Papaya Salad - We get it mild, so its not spicy at all. (Some of us are weak sauce to spice) Well i've been here many times over the years, and everything that i've had here has generally always been good.
