A few years ago I decided I needed a little correction of my teeth after years of small movements. Because we had two teens who would be needing braces soon I figured I'd do the legwork to get estimates and meet some local providers before making this investment since our first experience with an Irvine dentist wasn't fabulous and it took 7 years to complete treatment for my first born. This office simply doesn't compare to any others that I've visited. From the first interaction to the final days of treatment you're treated as a precious customer and with exemplary professionalism. The office is the cleanest medical facility I've encountered, the equipment is cutting edge modern tech, the competency of the staff is superlative and Dr. Shung? He's not only a fantastic orthodontist, he's a genuinely lovely human being. My kids have all felt well cared for and all of our experiences were perfect. Any issues we had were very quickly attended to and they work so well with our schedules (we had to take our oldest out of school for our former orthodontist and I'm opposed to that kind of scholastic interruption if avoidable). I know many struggle with financing ortho treatments but rest easy reader: their staff (primarily Min) handles all of the financial arrangements with understanding and flexibility. We had both standard metal braces and Invisalign between the four of us who have been treated. And bonus: their costs came in well below other competitors we evaluated. I'm fully aware that this review may sound a little "over the top" but in my 25+ years of living and doing business in Orange County, I'm not sure I've ever experienced this level of professionalism and compassion from a service oriented business. I was initially recommended to get Vivera retainers from my dentist in the SF Bay Area, so I have been looking for an ortho office in Orange County to resume my orthodontic care. I called many places and was met with difficult onboarding and scheduling processes. However, Simply Orthodontics were a breath of fresh air - so kind and happy to help over the phone! I was able to get an appointment within the week with Dr. Mana, and their onboarding paperwork was very straightforward. When I walked in for my appointment, the office was clean and beautifully decorated. The front office staff was warm and welcoming. They were also able to provide me with correct paperwork for my insurance. I was seen on time, and the office was very COVID safe with masks and hand-washing. I saw Jess who helped get my situated and took some photos and scans before seeing Dr. Mana. Dr. Mana was very intelligent, kind, and had a great bedside manner. She did a thorough exam and explained the entire process to me. She also gave me insight into the health of my teeth and gave me some talking points to bring up with my dentist at my next appointment. She took the time to explain different treatment options and their respective pros/cons and why she was recommending each diagnostic test and treatment. My retainers came back within a few weeks! We initially came here as a referral from our dentist and because the location is close and convenient, but have since learned that this orthodontist is really the best one around. We got so lucky and tell our friends. They have a really nice modern office, incredibly kind staff when my daughter was anxious, and a fun rewards program that makes it an exciting game to come to each appointment. I've also heard that we lucked out on cost in comparison to other local offices - plus we chose clear brackets for a more subtle look and it was the same cost as metal brackets, which apparently isn't always the case. I could not be happier with my experience at Simply Orthodontics. My teeth were fairly straight but I just wanted to correct a few minor issues. Since my adjustments were minor I was considering an online program such as Smile Direct Club. I'm SO glad I didn't. My dentist recommended Dr. Shung, so I figured I'd at least do a price comparison between the two. I was shocked to learn that the price difference was only a few hundred dollars and based on the excellent service I received from my consultation, I went with Simply Orthodontics. Knowing what I know now, it was worth the few hundred dollars and honestly so much more. And I didn't even have major corrections!! If you're considering online aligner programs, don't do it. First off, Dr. Shung's office is incredible - clean, modern, light, friendly. The staff are seriously outstanding. You can text for questions and appointments. Easy to book. Good hip/young vibe but also good for parents and kids too - they always have the best kids movies playing. They have the COMFIEST dentist chairs I have ever sat on in my entire life, which honestly probably isn't even necessary because the appointments are super quick and easy. Dr. Shung is honestly the BEST. He's very kind and funny and I can tell he has a good relationship with his staff. He listens to your requests/preferences and will cater to your requests if at all possible. He'll also make recommendations based on an "ideal" smile look. I can't say enough good things about him and his practice. Even more important than the excellent customer service though, is the amount of things that can't be done with a virtual aligner program. This crossed my mind every week I sat in his chair. First of all, tiny clear attachments were added to my teeth to help give the aligners something to grip onto, which was especially important if you need to pull teeth up/down, not just side to side. When teeth were being stubborn and struggling to move, he would look to see where teeth were hitting and blocking movement. He manicured the teeth to make space, and to make each tooth more aesthetically pleasing by removing weird bumps and grooves. None of that could have been done at home! I am so grateful for Simply Orthodontics and highly recommend them to anyone considering aligners. read more

I came across Simply Orthodontics because I needed adjustments to an old retainer that no longer fit, as well as adjustments to a new retainer from another orthodontist that didn't seem to fit right. I was so impressed from the moment I walked in. The office itself is a very clean, modern, nice looking space. I received complimentary adjustments on both of the retainers I brought in, which was so kind of them to offer me, especially because one of the retainers proved to be a difficult adjustment which took a couple of weeks to complete. We heard about simply from school and friends, they all have good experience with them so we decided to schedule an appointment. The office is very clean and we were greeted by friendly staff. I started Invisalign treatments at Simply Orthodontics in the beginning of 2020. I'm not done yet (almost!) and I waited to write a review to give an honest assessment of this practice. Dr. Shung and all of his staff have been professional and courteous since day 1. My teeth are pretty aligned now; they aren't quite where I want them to be aesthetically but Dr. Shung and staff have continued to go above and beyond to help me. Still a work in progress, but I am glad to have chosen this place. I am impressed with how clean the office is and the technology they use. Scans for new liners are quick and easy and they have monitors at every station where they can show you your teeth currently and how he plans to move your teeth. Tech is pretty amazing these days and they have clearly made the investments for their patients. I had 4 of my teeth removed in my childhood orthodontics treatment, and had 2 wisdom teeth removed later. I assume a qualified orthodontist should be able to notice it with the first few minutes when checking my teeth, and even my general dentist realized it it without X-ray during normal cleaning. But after taking photos, X-rays and discussing my concerns and needs for almost 1 hour，Dr. Naeim didn't realize it and thought I had 2 missing teeth. Also Dr Naeim thought my case is simple and I just need to wear Invisalign for about 6 months. Fact: I have bite issues that caused TMJ symptoms , and I have to visit a TMJ specialist a few months later. TMJ dentist said I should make sure to find an orthodontist to correct my bite instead of just straightening my teeth. Other few orthodontists I visited all said I need at least 18 months- 2 years for orthodontics treatment. read more

I have not been treated by Dr. Shung, so this review is solely based off of my experience with the consultation. I went to a new dentist in March, and they started pushing Invisalign on me telling me my bite is messed up and it is causing receding gums, etc. It felt very salesy and scare tactic. So I decided I needed a second opinion. I had heard good things about Dr. Shung, and the office is minutes from my house so I decided to go in for a consultation to put my neurotic mind at ease. My treatment coordinator, Min, was very welcoming and clear in her communication. They completed X-rays and Dr Shung did a quick inspection of my teeth. He confirmed what I suspected, that the dentist was trying to make a buck. He said he doesn't think I need Invisalign, and that it is not needed to correct my bite/gums. If I wanted them it would be solely to correct slight shifting from when I had braces when I was younger. I personally am more inclined to believe an orthodontist turning business away. That speaks to the honesty and integrity of the office, and I would highly recommend going for a consultation if you ever need braces/Invisalign. Based off of my experience, I may actually end up getting Invisalign through them for the aesthetic benefit. read more

My three kids all went to Simply Orthodontics over the past five years or so and our experience has overall been excellent...I would definitely recommend coming...they are very efficient and the orthodontists are very personable...the office is very modern and always clean and very efficient. My only partly negative warning/comment would be that they are extremely on time and there is not much grace for being late...which I understand because they have to run their business...I think it's also dependent on who is in the front office...the girls now in the front office are great...they still are efficient but will try to work with you if possible to fit you in...in the past during Covid, the front office girls made my 13 year old daughter wait outside the office by herself to wait for me to pick her up (bc we weren't allowed to wait in the office). This however does not affect my opinion now of the office is 5 star because I believe they have now a great balance of personality and efficiency. read more
