I've stopped by this small unassuming bakery a couple of times now and have been blown away by how good it is each time. The menu is small but it's evident that they put a lot of care and attention into everything that they do. The people are extremely friendly and helpful if you have any questions about their offerings. Their green goddess turkey sandwich on fresh grilled sourdough was divine and left me craving more. I love the croissants--classic or filled with chocolate or ham/Swiss. The huge drop biscuits are a must--especially pepper jack and bacon, or, my fav, chorizo. Lunch: take your pick, literally. Pressed sandwiches, wraps, veggie options. Weekly soups. I do most small business meetings here or have Chantell cater larger groups. She is always spot on. We would like to extend a large thank you to Simply Pure Sweets for hosting the Coffee Lover's Club a couple of weekends ago. It was SIMPLY fabulous. Our members were overwhelmingly satisfied with the overall visit. It being a hot and sunny afternoon, the entirety of us ordered iced drinks; half coffee and half tea. The range of choices for both coffee and tea on the menu were satisfactory (reference images) and extra flavors and milk substitutions were available. Our members voted that the coffee was mostly satisfying, but not the most complex or interesting we have tasted. However, coffee is not the only good part of Simply Pure Sweets. A large selection of baked goods are on display in the front. They are so good that they are mostly gone when we arrived! The croissants, macarons and quiches available were absolutely fantastic. The other food items (lunch menu) were noted to be acceptable, but not as tasty as the baked goods. The entire cafe was clean and inviting. The ONLY notable environment issue was that the A/C was very cold. So cold, in fact, that when we asked our members to describe the meeting in one word half of them said "cold". Thank you for being such fabulous hosts and welcoming us. We are also very thankful for the handfuls of macrons that were graciously given to us at the conclusion of our session. Over a decade ago when Simply Sweets was in their old location, I would come here with my ( then toddlers ) kids and get them biscuit bombs and myself a coffee. Now I'm here like clockwork every two weeks for a latte and baked good and Simply Sweets has the best around. The girls at the counter are always sweet and ready to offer recommendations if you're new to the shop. It's a good place to catch up with friends or people watch the square. Coffee was okay. The service is what made the experience one to remember, and not in a good way. Didn't realize asking for a box after spending upwards of $15 was such an inconvenience. The guy said it would "cost him too much money," and was incredibly rude about it. I wouldn't be that upset if he kindly said no, but his demeanor and tone was really angry and loud for absolutely no reason. Kind of interesting for being a manager/owner. I get being in a bad mood but it's weird how he thought that made it okay to treat paying customers with such disrespect and ignorance. Hopefully he gets his personal issues sorted out so people can have a better customer service experience. Judging by the other reviews on here I don't know if that day will come though. I spent my morning hunting for something to fuel my sweet craving. The people working there were so nice and immediately served me as soon as I entered the door. Unfortunately, they did not serve single cupcakes, but they do have a variety of other pastries including cookies, macarons, scones, muffins, croissants, and biscuits. The staff was very friendly and attentive except one person. This person was professional, but seems to be holding the Hot sauce very close to his chest. We got a frittata and a quiche. I came here on a cold, windy, rainy day. I came in search of warm treats but I pivoted and went savory. That was, likely, my mistake. 'Sweets' is in the name. I should have trusted them to know their strong suit. As it was, I had a fine experience but I'm betting that it could be better. I'm willing to give it another try. This wasn't my first go 'round with Downtown Murfreesboro, so I knew about street parking and the small town charm (for an increasingly growing city). As mentioned by other yelpers, there's not a ton of southern comfort to be found once you walk through the doors. My friend and I weren't greeted or acknowledged outside of our orders (more on that in a bit). The feeling of being a nuisance that others described? Yeah. That. I get it. People have off days. But that kind of emotion leeches into the atmosphere and the food. It started things off on an awkward note. Making note of the gluten-free goodies, I scooped up a chocolate chip cookie. I was going to go for a blueberry muffin as well but there weren't any available by the time I came in (just north of an hour before closing). Even though I was cold and wet, I couldn't resist the idea of a flavored lemonade. The indigo-colored mixed berry lemonade was a happy blend of tart and sweet. Everything's going well, right? Well, here's where things stalled a bit. I've already mentioned that the fellow behind the counter didn't exactly make us feel welcomed. I asked whether or not SPS had gluten-free bread for sandwiches. I was told they did not. They did have sourdough bread, though. Point of order: for those with problematic guts, sourdough is a flashpoint. Celiacs should avoid it but non-celiacs can have some success with sourdough... given that it's prepared in an exacting way (likely, non-commercial). I was cold, wet and hungry so I didn't think about any of that. I just heard 'sourdough.' I went with it and ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. I received a chicken sandwich. When I went up to the counter to ask for some bacon (it's in the name and all), the fellow rolled his eyes (I get it; I've been there), apologized and said he'd make another. He, then, disappeared to the back to make my sandwich. Are you getting my concern? I received a sandwich that wasn't warm (to be fair, it wasn't a panini but a sandwich like this should be warm, no?), had cold, chewy bacon and bread that made me a little nervous. I shouldn't have ordered it. I shouldn't have eaten it. I did. I survived to write the review. I wouldn't do it again. Coffee? Sure. Lemonade? Yes. Sweets? It's in the name. Why not? Sandwich? Such good desserts, custom made cakes and gluten free options! Coffee is excellent as well and it's a local place that has actually reasonable prices! Pesto chicken sandwich is a favorite as well as the mixed greens salad. They made a birthday cake for me and cut the sugar and it was excellent! Received cupcakes and cookies for my birthday. The cupcakes were extremely dense and dry. The icing had a weird oily texture with no flavor. Some of the cookies were over baked and the icing on the sugar cookie was similar to the cupcakes. On the flip side, the chocolate chip cookies were VERY good. By far the best product I received. I had eaten a Saturday brunch here before and knew that I loved their coffee, their cinnamon rolls and their croissant sandwiches. They're all out of this world and I wholeheartedly recommend them. This time, though, the birthday girl requested a six-inch birthday cake from Simply Pure, and I was determined to grant that wish. I didn't do enough investigating to find out that you have to request a cake three days in advance though. That's my fault, not Simply Pure's, and we just decided to have the cake after the actual birthday! On to the cake itself: they offer at least three flavors--vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. We chose chocolate with buttercream icing, simple sprinkles for decoration. The chocolate layers were moist but not too moist (none of that oily cake) and chocolatey without being bitter. I wouldn't call it dark chocolate; the flavor was just right. The icing was very buttery and very creamy but not very sweet. One family member didn't care for the icing at all, but the rest of us liked it. I will admit that it's the least sweet icing I've ever had, but I still liked it. Overall, yes, I would order it again. Great customer service too--just order at least three days in advance of your event. read more

My first visit yesterday was awesome. The chicken pesto panini with spinach, sundries tomatoes and goat cheese on sourdough was so tasty. I got the double chocolate cookie which is so rich I was able to make it last and have half for my afternoon coffee and the other half for last nights dessert. I've been to Simply Pure about 3 times now and figured it's high time I wrote a review. I'm not a big sweets person, so it took me awhile to give this place a try. The first time I actually had someone offer to buy my lunch and I got a chicken, bacon, ranch herb wrap. That's been my go to outside of a quick coffee. It's a cute cafe and I might stop in more if not for the parking situation. Street parking in Murfreesboro is a nightmare and when I need a quick in and out it can be rather frustrating.
