One of my favorite places to stop when I'm in the area or driving up or down I-65. This has been a staple in the area for years and they are still going strong. The shrimp are good and the coleslaw doesn't disappoint . If you are ever in the area go and check them out. Be warned that this is a to go establishment and they don't provide the best customer service, kinda blah but the food is worth it. This is an older small building without seating so it's not the best looking. If you're ever in the area you all should definitely check them out. read more

Stopped by at the recommendation from a local friend. This place is carry out only, and while cash is preferred they have started accepting credit cards for an extra fee. Best way to order is to call ahead. It took a while for them to answer the phone. Trust me, your persistence will pay off. There is very limited parking and some patrons just pull up out front and wait on the street. Best approach is to park in the lot and walk in. We ordered the large shrimp dinner and a pound of clam strips. The shrimp dinner comes with coleslaw, fries, and choice of sauces. The shrimp was tender and tasty and had some sort of cornmeal or secret breading. Note that they do not have traditional cocktail sauce. Instead, they offer mild sauce, hot sauce, or tartar. I'd highly recommend the mild sauce. It's a slightly sweet sauce that is so good you won't miss cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce was wonderful and would be great with any of the fried fish if you get that. The clam strips were tender and delicious. The coleslaw was perfectly crisp with a little bite. I ordered 1 pound of shrimp and a catfish dinner. The place is small, clean but efficient & will definitely leave You satisfied. I would suggest you call ahead but even if not they're quick about getting the orders out. Jumbo shrimp are jus that; JUMBO but oh so Good. I've been coming to Simply Seafood for years and have never had a bad experience. Every time I come back home I have to stop here either on my way in or out. There's no way you can go wrong with the fried shrimp. Depending on how hungry you are the 1/2 Pound or pound of shrimp will suffice. The shrimp are big and has a nice crunch. Sauces(hot or mild) and fries can be ordered on the side. Sometimes I'll also order some Catfish nuggets and they are just as delicious. This place has awesome fried seafood with very reasonable prices. They run a special Monday and Tuesday for 1 pound large fried shrimp for only 10.95. I am a huge fan of the scallops and shrimp. I ordered 1/2 pound of each and it was $16 - and my scallops were huge! The seafood is very fresh, seasoned very lightly and fried to perfection. I had a fairly big order as always. We got 1lb of WHITING. Which is a light tasting and smelling fish. It smells so bad that the kids were complaining. I sniffed at it and it was very strong so I called the restaurant. The young lady tells me to bring it back in and they would remake this order. Mind you it's 6:23p and they close at 7p. I told her we were coming from Portage and would be a little after closing. She stated this was fine. We arrive and they notify us that they are out of Whiting fish. Also, that they pull the fish out of the freezer every morning and that it always smells this way. Then they went so far as to say that they called their supplier and it is supposed to smell this way. Liar Liar pants on . Then she said that they couldn't do anything and she told me on the phone. No you didn't otherwise I would not have come back. She was pleasant over the phone and so was I. She was the one who offered to replace the rancid meal. Why have me drive 30 minutes back for you to lie in my face? Just wow.... I have been eating fish since I was a small child and by no means is WHITING A PUNGENT FISH. Anyone would expect the catfish to smell stronger than Whiting. The catfish was ok and the shrimp. Check your food closely they are no better than Sharks. Called order in so it can be ready. Gave the name the order will be picked up under. Confirmed what was wanted over the phone before leaving work! Got to counter, cashier asked for name, looked at ticket and "confirmed" what was ordered. Rung order on register, I paid (thinking why didn't co-worker give me more money)? Had to use some of my dollars...not a problem. It's my co-worker, I know where they work! Got to car, called to tellco-worker I'm on my way back and to have my money ready. Jokingly! Co-worker wasn't amused though because they were expecting "change" back? Told it was three bags, so co-worker must have ordered quite a bit? Co-worker stated only 1/2 order jumbo shrimp and the 2 whole catfish dinner! Searched the bag! All that was in bag is catfish filet and nuggets! Where's the shrimp and whole catfish? Called restaurant! I'm told to bring back in since it was there fault. I pulled back into parking space cause I hadn't left the lot yet. Go inside, find other customer asking about their order? They were told they're order was "taken" by someone else. Uh? No! It was "given" to another customer...ME! I didn't go behind the counter and help myself!!!
