Tiny place that serves breakfast and lunch. Today I ordered the fish basket (cod) with onion rings. I was hoping for grandma onion rings in a place like this but they were frozen from a bag. My dining companion had the 1/3 with cheese and bacon and fries. The tea was delicious and I mixed it half and half. They use simply syrup and Martin's liquid tea packages. So old fashioned and good. They carry Pepsi products. My fish were good and the onion rings hot out of the fryer. My friend's burger was very good. Good veggie omelette but no toast included?? This restaurant seems disorganized and didn't look like it was open. You order at the counter and they give you cups for beverages. Simply Southern Eatery is the epitome of a small town restaurant. It offers a simple, basic menu with very good prices. Walden menu just not offer anything that would push the zone a comfort too far to the left or right, it does offer the basic comfort foods that I would expect at a restaurant such as this and also the food that our souls often crave. The staff is friendly and while the environments is nothing fancy, it is clean and inviting. There is something to be said about eating in a small town restaurant. It is a place where many of the people know each other by name and if they don't know you, they will at least acknowledge you with a friendly smile. I would definitely recommend this establishment and I give it four stars. It is easy when you are traveling to get caught up and going to chain restaurants. I get the appeal, you know what to expect there and there are often not surprises. But I recommend that you get off that habit of just sticking to your comfort zone and trying these little mom-and-pop businesses. First, you are helping dining at these little mom-and-pop places a small business owner in following his dream and keeping food on his table. We've driven by this place often, but decided to stop and try it out today. Initially I wasn't certain that it was open, but could vaguely see the Open sign lit in the dark window. Once inside though it was bright, welcoming, clean, and "simple". We received a friendly greeting upon entering and was quickly provided a menu. She also let us know that once we decided what we wanted to order at the counter and they would bring it to our table. The menu is "simple", but has something to entice most folks tastes. Our food came quickly and was perfectly, as ordered. The cheeseburger I had was very good. The meat and cheese were hot and all the condiments and veggies were cool as they should be. The Club my boyfriend had looked very fresh and he said it was really good. We both had fries and they were perfectly cooked and hot. This place also serves breakfast and if the biscuits and gravy look as good as the pictures that others have posted, I'm in for a return visit. The prices are very reasonable, as well. I enjoy these off the main route places. This reminds me of a simple diner. The food was fresh, tasty, quick, portions were plentiful, and staff was friendly. It's a small town outside Jacksonville fla. I road around a bit to find a place I hadn't eaten at. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I was happy to see the diversity of staff in this small restaurant. The customer service was top tier. Everyone was so warm and friendly. The food service was quick and the food was good. There wasn't anything I did not like. For my preference the grits could have used some water to thin them out. I had cheese grits. I added pepper and sugar. I'm from the north so just hush up about the sugar in my grits. The veggie omelet was made well. The ratio of cheese to other ingredients really worked well for me. The pancake surprised me. When I said it was sweet but not overly sweet, topped with melted butter and light and fluffy. Yuuuuuummmmm. The turkey sausage was good and cooked very well. I'm picky about how my turkey sausage is cooked. If you make it wrong it's nasty. Many people make it and it's nasty but I'm a real cook so I know how to get it right. I ordered a tea. Hot tea in a 32 oz cup for $2.25. The menu is interesting. I like this place. When I come back town to this part of Florida I'll be back. I highly suggest others go eat here as well. read more

Nice people, some of the food was just ok but I ordered a country fried steak as a side item and was brought this tiny little piece of breaded and fried piece of charcoal that was hard as a rock as it had been cooked several times over an apparently long period of time. Stopped in for lunch on a local recommendation while in town for the day, glad I did. Small simple place, super clean, and a very friendly staff. Menu is pretty basic lunch fare, breakfast selections were substantial. My burger was cooked to perfection along with the large crinkle fries. Toppings were super fresh and put together perfectly. In looking at the menu, I would be inclined to fully believe a breakfast or brunch here would be fantastic. If I ever have the opportunity (I'm not local), I'd give it a try in a heartbeat. Traveling home after 5 days of camping and we were looking for a home cooked meal. Came across the reviews and decided to stop and try. The place was small and clean. All the food was cooked to order, so be patient . My husband got breakfast platter and although he enjoyed it, the sausage was pre-packaged. I got the fish and shrimp basket with fries. Had lunch here last week, the staff was great, their meat is great. We got paninis and loved them, didn't care for the French fries so definitely get a homemade side instead. Starting with a warm welcome and an inviting atmosphere I knew I was in the right place. The menu isn't small but isn't a novel either, easy to narrow down what you're on the hunt for. Good food at a decent price. This is a local Mom & Pop type restaurant so expect a wait to order and a wait to get served. Our order was somehow lost so our breakfast took 45 minutes from when we entered until when we were served. The server who noticed us waiting was very nice and apologetic. The service here is great everyone is very friendly. We got the biscuits and gravy, pancakes, breakfast burrito and hash browns. The sausage gravy is from a can but the biscuits were fantastic, to good for the gravy. If they made fresh homemade gravies the breakfast could be amazing. The pancakes were so fluffy and soft and the taste was sweet almost like cake. Loved them! Burrito was small but yummy. Hash browns were rushed and undercooked wouldn't get those again. Prices are very reasonable I would call this a cheap eat. Overall I would eat here again looking forward to trying the lunch menu. read more

Thank you for your southern hospitality as we were passing through heading back to GA. I had the the breakfast wrap with turkey sausage which was fresh and hot. My husband has the breakfast plate with French toast which was also really good. The restaurant is quaint, hometown feel and very clean. Don't waste your time or money!! Just left this establishment after waiting for over 40 minutes for a simple salad and grilled chicken. First they charged me for a water cup then some random charge that another employee had to remove and refund me. Then they came back and said they don't even have the right type of lettuce. I was totally confused and rather disappointed at the service. No one came to tell me what was taking so long. I had to ask what was happening and then again for them to box it up because my lunch break was up. Truly it's a business and the way it was handled should have not been this way. Oh best part I paid $2.00 for extra chicken and when I opened the box there was no chicken. The only chicken was in a foil like very very little. Such a waste.
