My friend and I had to investigate given the hype and what we found was a very fast food--looking place, bright but simple, even spartan, interior, nice and fast service, reasonable prices. But, beyond the expected hamburgers and a great selection of shakes, they have chicken 'n' waffles, fried shrimp, and other dishes. Everything is indeed fast food yet at the same time tastes homemade. My shrimp were good though a bit too salty for my liking, the waffle fries fine, the bread roll (really? not hushpuppies?) ok if weird to me to include in a seafood basket. Their house MotLee's Sauce is certainly the sauce to ask for, by the way. All in all, a good, economical choice for fast food plus to support something local and unique. read more

Stopped by here on our way back to Jax today, very conveniently located right off I-10. I had the chicken tenders that came with fries and a biscuit, as well as a strawberry milkshake. Husband got a smash burger with sweet potato fries and a Heath bar shake. Everything was served quickly by the nice young man behind the counter, all was hot and looked great. Everything was delicious, with the highpoints being the sweet potato waffle fries, the biscuit, and the milkshakes. I got ranch and the Motlee sauce for my chicken and both were excellent, the ranch is def homemade. We'll be back around the next time we head in or out on I-10, although it's only 30 minutes from where I live in Jax, so we might make the drive just for dinner one night. read more

I visited Motlee's for lunch. I went into the restaurant to eat. The cashier was female, tattooed with piercings. We requested the sandwich only, not the basket or meal. I ask for a receipt. I went to the table to eat. The cashier had charged us for baskets/meals that include a drink and french fries. We only wanted water. There was a line at the counter so I did not address the overcharge. Be aware of this issue. Get a receipt and double check the charges. FL resturants are notorious for over charging. Pier 6 charged me for an entry that I did not order. Get receipts and check the charges for accuracy. I like Motlee's, but they did not charge us for what we requested; we were over-charged. Hubby saw an ad on Facebook for Motlee's recently. We thought it looked really good and so we planned a little trip to Macclenny last Saturday. The drive from Jacksonville was pretty quick. When we arrived, we walked right in and ordered. Hubby ordered a smashed burger and a Nashville hot yardbird with waffle fries. I ordered a classic yardbird. Everything came out super fast, hot and tasty. The classic yardbird was simple, very crispy, delicious with the potato bun and pickles. The Nashville hot yardbird had a nice spice level to it, pretty authentic flavor as well. The chicken thigh was juicy and not fatty at all. The smashed burger was pretty good but wasn't as good as the yardbirds. We both really enjoyed the waffle fries, too. They were crispy and seasoned well. We ended our lunch with a couple treats to share - a small custard with Heath and a small cookies & cream milkshake. The custard was delicious! Thick and creamy with a unique vanilla flavor. Was very excited there was a Korean fried chicken burger using thighs on the menu. Even more excited when I found out it could be turned into a salad. Sadly chicken tenders were subbed for the thighs and I was very disappointed. Tenders are just dry in general so extra disappointing I really couldn't stomach it. Oh well. Beans and rice were meh. Tasted a friends goat cheese pepper jelly sandwich and it was good though. Oh well. I tried to be healthier in my choice and it back fired. The service was phenomenal! Never experienced a more kind and energetic young woman as the one who took our order! The Smashburger were AMAZING!!! Why is there only one of these places?! We were headed back to Tampa from Jacksonville and thankfully due to traffic we were routed this way! This is an intriguing new restaurant that looks like a fast food chain but cooks like a quirky local diner. I had a burger with queso and pickled jalapeños that had the family reunion uncle-working-the-grill taste of a Five Guys or Cookout. My companion praised the sweet potato fries. Employees were friendly and you could see the burgers being cooked on the grill, which showed this place to have a clean and well-run kitchen. The menu has a dozen other items we want to try. Prices are affordable. A poster on the wall touted the Divine Swine, a breakfast sausage sandwich with goat cheese and pepper jelly that we'll be returning for one morning. read more

MotLee's is one of my favorite spots not just in Macclenny but in the greater Jax area in general. My favorite thus far is the Phil's burger with the pepper jelly and signature sauce. So good. But I fear it may be only a limited time menu item. My other favorite is the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. Furthermore, their fries are super delicious, FRIED IN BEEF TALLOW. Mmm so good. Plus I'm a sucker for any place with housemade sauces and dressings and their ranch and other sauces are truly delicious. Love this place. read more

3/22/25 Pulled through at 8:00 pm (they're open until 10:00 pm) and the service was very fast. I paid $24 dollars for a burger/fries/tender plate. Every single thing we ordered was stale & had most likely been sitting out for hours. The biscuit that comes with the tender plate was hard as a rock. This isn't the first time, but Macclenny doesn't have a lot of options. Truly awful & such a disappoint. Do not recommend going, but if you do. Do not go later in the day. read more

Friendly cashier informed me that this casual eatery is the first of its kind. I ordered the blackened shrimp and grits after reading other review. My shrimp and grits was amazing, so good and just the right portion for me! Son got the kid's Mac and cheese which comes with a side (he got sweet potato fries) and drink (got a chocolate shake for a $2 upgrade). My son said the Mac and cheese was 'delicious' and he liked how hot it was. My son really liked his dad's waffle fries. My daughter thought the chocolate shake was on the thick side, but tasty. The sweet potato fries was lukewarm but tasty per daughter. My husband got the queso jalapeño double burger ($1 extra for a double) which he liked. The bathrooms were clean and it was a pleasant stop for a quick dinner on the way to Cocoa Beach! Close to the highway and friendly service. So good. I order the Shrimp and Grits about 4 months ago and just ordered them again today and nothing has changed, so tasteful and amazing. The grits are rich and creamy combined with the grilled shrimp is just delicious. Not to mention their shakes are nice and thick giving them the best flavor, 10/10 shakes and food. Quick and easy service, nice and friendly. Place is not packed at all and it's happy hour at I believe the only location that MotLee's has. Everything is clean and has a nice cool breeze. My absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Macclenny. The magic these guys did with the yardbird chicken might actually cause addictions. And then they discontinued it and I was so disappointed they must have felt it from there. So they added a Korean inspired chicken sandwich. Boom. Driving back to Tampa from a court hearing in Jacksonville and wanted something different than the usual fast food. I had the smash burger with the extra patty, waffle fries and ice tea. Everything came out great. The burger was perfectly prepared and seasoned. The fries were well seasoned and the tea was fresh brewed. Everyone working was kind. I also got a low carb chicken bacon wrap for later and it was great. All the food I had was great. The menu was very impressive and had a lot of innovative options like Korean Barbecue. The reason I didn't leave 5 stars is the last time I ate there restaurant smelled like old grease and was not as clean as usual. Food was still good and I will go back. The food and service both were really good. Had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It really wasn't very hot (spicy), but it had great flavor. The chicken was super crispy, but was a little on the smaller side. The fries were good, but mine were cold (I probably should have said something, but I didn't). I'm always in the mood for a new experience. Pulled off the road to get gas and saw this place. Why plants could be a lot of fun. I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato waffle fries and a mocha shake. I looked in the bag, looks like I had what I ordered, and jump back on the freeway. is there really worse sweet potato fries, they had so much seasoning on them, that the sweet potato part had, left the building! The menu said smash burgers, so I was expecting a thin, smashed crispy burger. Burger was not thin, not crispy, and was quite possibly the driest burger I had ever eaten. The redeeming quality, was that the shake was very good. It did not however justify the $16 bill I paid for that meal! $10 for a burger that size his stretching it! When I tell you every bite of each selection I partook of was delightful is an understatement!?! The breakfast burrito takeout presentation was underwhelming to say the least but when I peeled back the wrapper and bit into it?????? Wow! Cilantro, fried egg, freshly sliced firm tomato, jalapeños and admist all that 'delicious goodness' a light queso sauce drizzled thru it! Divine! I had to pause to try the GOAT...think Maple Street Biscuit Company with a biscuit that is buttery and flaky that melts into your palette rather than require some beverage to swallow it. Absolutely delectable! With A fried goat cheese medallion and a sweet slightly spicy pepper jelly. The home fries are edible without adding any additional condiments (which I prefer ketchup and hot sauce always on mine.) I'm only annoyed that I'm gonna have to drive over 45 minutes from the southside of Jacksonville now to fulfill this hankering that I know is bound to make an appearance after tasting cuisine such as this from so called fast food. My family and I camp near by and wanted to try this place since there isn't too much selection in the area. I wanted to try a few different options so we got the shrimp and grits (so good!!), Mac and cheese which was surprisingly very good too, broccoli salad (I didn't care for it too much it was okay), and the chicken sandwich. Overall the food was amazing for fast food and I loved the shrimp and grits. The breakfast looked amazing so we definitely plan on trying that too. The service was quick and friendly. read more
