I live about 45 minutes from The Coop. I will drive that, just to get the Best Wings. Last time I had the Fried Green Tomato BLT with a side of Cajun Ranch. OMG! so good. The tomato's were cooked perfect and to hoagie roll was fresh and soft. I've also had the Grilled Chicken Wrap twice. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This small town gem was quite a surprise. Apparently they're known for their burgers and wings but we opted to try the jalapeño poppers and the chicken tenders. The poppers really surprised us. Instead of a full sized pepper, the jalapeño was chopped up in very small pieces swimming in cheese. It was delicious! The chicken tender was also very good. The most surprising thing was that it wasn't deep fried and coated in a batter. It was a deliciously moist large chicken tender sitting in the Cajun Ranch sauce, also delicious. I've been going to the coop for years and I just love it. Like wine, it's gotten better with age. Everytime I get wings in Jacksonville, they never compare to The Coop. The wings are meaty and slathered in sauce. Just finger lickin good like they should be. The best is when there's enough sauce at the bottom of the basket to swipe my curly fries through. Cajun ranch and golden ranch are the best flavors by far!!! If you don't feel like wings, they make great chicken sandwiches as well. Be aware, it always takes some time to get our food, pretty much every single time. They're almost always busy. But the food always comes out pipen hot and delicious. Definitely worth the wait. Glad I chose to stop- just driving through town and not familiar with any of the lunch stops, can be disappointing. But the Coop was great. Ordered bone-on wings with the Lemon-Pepper dry rub and fries. Both arrived hot and tasty. Fries don't always get the right attention, but these were fresh, not sitting under a heat lamp for minutes on end. And the wings were cooked to perfection. Not over cooked and dry, not undercooked and a tad raw around the joints. Nope, to perfection inside, moist and full of flavor. With a crisp skin and well-coated in a Lemon-Pepper dry rub was was very lemony - in a very good way. Clean tables, friendly staff, good food. Win, win,win. I absolutely love their wings and curly fries but It really depends on the cook and time you order. About 1/3 of the times I've ordered to go here, usually get wings and curly fries, the wings have been just gross and the fries stale and cold. Only once I've even gotten a combo of delicious hot crisp wings but stale, old, cold fries, it wasn't a pleasant mix but thankfully it's only happened once. Definitely don't order close to closing time you will get the food cooked earlier in the day and you can certainly taste the difference, literally my experience every time I tried ordering within an hour of closing time. It's worth noting that I've tried numerous wing spots from Tampa to Jacksonville and presently only go to five total locations if I ever want wings, two in Tampa, one in Clearwater, one in Jacksonville, and The Coop in Macclenny. I give a 3-star for dependability, though I frequent The Coop I can't help but worry how the food (the wings and curly fries mainly) will turn out. read more

I live in St John's and was visiting. I came here a few years ago and I remember it being pretty good. I decided to try again today while in town and it's not that great. Very dark and dingy and hot. You can see dust and grime everywhere and not a single clean table. I had to clean my own table and seats. I've been here for an hour and still no one has cleaned any tables and it's not busy. Both the girls at the counter have their faces In their phone. The service is pretty slow. The food took some time to come out. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. I called and placed a telephone lunch order of which was read back to me correctly. Once I arrived at the pickup window, I paid for my order and patiently waited (please note that my order was not reviewed prior to payment). A different lady brought my food to the window and then went to hand me my drinks. I asked if the cup she was handing me was a large and she replied no this is a medium. I let her know that I ordered two large drinks. She then states, "Do you have 50 more cents"? I gave her the additional change and she rudely handed me a large and then sat there glaring at me waiting for me to give her the medium back as if I'm a mind reader. Ok, so this is a local joint in our small town. Their hours are kinda crazy. They are closed on Sundays... really nuts around football season. The staff is, well, in an effort not to call them lazy... let's just say they are very unmotivated. We ordered wings to go... waited and watched 3 tables order, sit and get their food. Waited some more... watched a guy place a to go order, and receive his about 10 minutes later. I tried to be patient. My husband asked the young lady that took our order if she could please check on our order (30 minutes of waiting already)... she yelled at another girl behind the counter to check. Now, the original girl was sitting in a booth, drinking a soda. Why could she not check? Doesn't matter... the girl that she yelled at, was busy with other customers and so we waited some more. When she finally had a moment to ask us what we ordered, turns out our order had been sitting in the window for over 20 minutes! In the window, with no heat lamp. Our food was cold. COLD. Will we come back... probably not. It wasn't our first visit, but each visit we've had issues like this. Now we are not hard to please, really we aren't! Got the Honey BBQ Boneless chicken wings and they were pretty good. I was expecting them to be low quality frozen chicken chunks but they weren't, they may have been frozen but the chicken was pretty high quality. The curly fries are always crisp and delicious too. The dining room looks nice, comfortable and clean. A big improvement from how it used to look I might add. Also, I'm a huge fan of the funnel cake fries here. So we ordered take out since this is during the COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately and we understand take out isn't quite like the sit in dining. I ordered the kicken Chicken wings and it reminded me of Prego spaghetti sauce with spice so I wasn't that impressed, I did try my boyfriends Cajun ranch and they were much better! My daughter loves the boneless wings here at the coop. I finally tried them myself and wasn't disappointed. She orders honey barbeque and I order Cajun ranch. Both are delicious. The curly fries are standard fare. This seems to be a popular place for the local high school crowd. There's plenty of seating inside. The staff is always courteous. There's been some change in The Coop so I thought it would be a good time revamped my review . The Coop has been through a couple different locations and changed ownership several times over the last few years . The last time I visited to my horror the had changed my beloved fried pickles that have been a staple for me since the original owner . The new pickles ( which I will not order again ) are pre-breaded and lack any taste at all . I also ordered the cheese sticks and they also lack taste . I'm guessing they have changed their supplier ?? On a positive note the wings are still as tasty as ever . You have a choice of traditional or boneless . I always go with the traditional buffalo but they have many different wing flavors to choice from . Also try the buffalo chicken nachos they're a nice starter enough for two to share . Over all the food is good , I'd say the wings are better than hooters . This is a great little restaurant for Macclenny . This is a time I wish I could give a half star , because it is truly better than 3 but not quite 4 . read more

Went there today for lunch. Restaurant was only half full. Ordered Hot Buffalo wings, and a salad bar. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich, and fries. I was not given a salad plate when I placed the order, I figured it would be brought when the food came. An hour later our food was finally brought out! Several people that ordered after us received their food before us. Girl that I ordered from brought our food. She said didn't you order a salad, I put your plate out I guess you didn't pick it up! We just got take out from here. The wings were so-so. Some were not really meaty. The grease was dripping from my husbands fingers and kind of grossed me out. We also got fried pickles. We didn't eat them. They were REALLY strong. My big complaint is the drink lids. The lid came off of my drink when she handed it to me and I had to get another. The lid came off of my husbands drink and spilled tea in my seat. Once we were eating, my lid came off again and spilled a 32 is diet coke all over the table/floor. Not fun. I brought my family here to eat and it was some of the best food my mouth has ever eaten. My son loved his corndog and they even had gluten free food for my diabetic daughter. Me and my wife had the chicken and it was amazing highly recommend it.. Definitly go there if your around. read more
