Today was my first time for visiting Simply Thai. I arrived about 10 minutes early and was the first one to arrive of my work group totaling 13. The hostess was unapproachable and uninviting. After a few of the others arrived, she refused to seat us unless everyone was with our party, meanwhile there's maybe 2 or 3 other tables occupied in the dining area. Minutes later after our last person arrived, we were all seated. I was seated on the end but without a place setting or utensils. After a few minutes I asked for a menu and utensils, the waitress acknowledged and went on with her business. Fast forward several minutes later and I still hadn't received either. My colleague finally offered me his menu to look off of and once my meal arrived I had to ask for silverware again. This was a bit frustrating but the food was amazing! Had my ordered delivered to my hotel and was pleased with the freshness of my order. The spider roll was amazing they put a good amount of spice mayo and eel sauce. My Tom Yum soup was barely ok the flavor was lacking it was not spicy and didn't receive much for $13. I was looking for a good place to get some Thai fried rice and Simply Thai came up as Louisville's top restaurant for Thai food. I went for lunch and ordered carry-out. It took about 10 minutes to get my order the restaurant was busy. When I placed my order, the host asked which level of spiciness I wanted, 1 to 5, with 5 being the hottest. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it was my first time visiting the restaurant. I choose 3 and she added extra sauce on the side. The rice was delicious and not too spicy. One of my fav places to go to. I usually get the basil fried rice with chicken, level 5 heat. Yes I like it spicy! So good! I crave their food so many days during the week. My food is always correct, fresh, and moist (not dry). Dry rice is the worst and this is not the case with them. They pack the plastic containers with food so I always get 2 meals out of it. Well worth the money. Heads up- as soon as they open up in the evening, their lines are swarmed with people calling to place orders. That's how good they are. I gave the 4/5 review because they ask what condiments you want and then I don't get them. That's happened more than once, but I still love this place. The food here is tasty but I feel like it's way overpriced. Why was 2 orders of simple chicken fried rice $30? I have ordered the same exact thing once before and it was cheaper than that for some reason. I wish they would've told me the total on the phone when I ordered it but also I should've asked so that's on me...Speaking of, when I ordered it they estimated a 35 minute wait time. I didn't think that was super accurate so I pulled up after 15 minutes and it was already sitting there. Which, don't get me wrong, is great! But imagine if I had waited that estimated time of 35 minutes and how long my food would've sat there for. Another thing is their hours are terrible. They close at an odd time of the day to prepare between lunch and dinner service but personally i think they should only open for dinner service around 4:00 but that's not the case. Theres usually a line out the door as soon as they open and wait times are just ridiculous they need a new system. Employees are nice and do the best they can but overall they just need better hours and a new system of operation. Wow! I loved the food here! We were able to get a table for two without a problem and the server was very attentive. The menu had a good variety of options but I came in knowing I wanted some type of noodles. I got the Pad See Ew and it was a delicious combo of sweet and savory. I prefer more vegetables so I opted for that option instead of a protein. I was happy with the portions and the freshness of the veggies! My boyfriend got the Pad Thai and has been dreaming of it ever since. We like it spicy so despite asking for level 5 heat, we asked for some additional sauce to make it hotter. When you come to visit your Dad, and he says let's get Thai food. My first reaction: Louisville+ Thai Food= Ughhhh. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, with ample parking in the front. (I wish I could tell you the area of town.) When we entered we were immediately greeted, and sat. My Dad keep insisting we have to order an order of the spring rolls to start, so we did as well I started with a Thai Ice Tea. The spring rolls were so delicious, and fresh. I probably could have eaten so many more. The sauce was also a nice compliment to the rolls. The Thai Tea, was also very delicious, and not to sweet; as I'm not a big sweets person. I highly recommend both. My entree I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken. This was also a home run with tender pieces of chicken; although I would have like a little bit more spice (and not heatness). Simply Thai has been my favorite restaurant in Louisville for as long as I can remember but over the last few months the service has gone downhill. I have been ordering the same dishes for the last three years, and when made properly, they are amazing. My go-to order is the basil fried rice with chicken (spice level 4) and the Thai spicy tuna roll. The last few times I've been here, I've had to send the rice back because there is absolutely no basil sauce or chili oil (spice) in my rice whatsoever. On top of that, it usually takes about 15-20 minutes to even be greeted by the serving staff, even on slower nights. While this location is much more convenient for me than the Middletown location, the inconsistency in the food and service is enough for me to travel to the other location for a better experience. I really hope they can get these issues sorted out because the food is amazing when it's made right. read more

I stopped for a late lunch one Saturday, most of the dinning room is closed and they were doing a brisk business with carry out and curbside, but I wanted to sit and enjoy and I only arrived 30 minutes before closing time. They treated me just fine. I hate to cut it that close when I go somewhere but they made me feel that I was a welcome guest. I had an awesome meal including the Thai Tea. The shrimp dumpling appetizer I almost ate all of them prior to remembering to take a photograph they were that good. The soup was sublime. Everything was so delicious. Note- no veggies come in the pad Thai unless you order "loaded." A couple orders of fried rice - we asked to have onion on the side (as was being shared) for 1 order as we had an allergy at the table and the server response was "ughh that's weird.. I don't think we can do that." So we omitted them all together. Have NEVER had a server make a comment like that, condescendingly. Server would benefit from some customer service training. Floors were sticky, bathrooms were ughh - floor sticky.m, 1 person only. We were sat right next to another table - basically employ inside but the 3 tables with people all sat right in a row. Hands down my go-to for Pad Thai in Louisville. I adore it. You're asked upfront what your spiciness preferences are on a scale of 0-5. I play it safe with a solid 3. Once the bowl of scrumptious noodles arrive at your plate, you're in for a mouthful of delicious zing, pop, and peanut crunch in every bite. I would love to tell you about more of the food here because it looks and smells delicious but I can't steer away from my favorite. It's also a really large serving. My partner and I share one portion and both have happy bellies by the end of our time at Simply Thai. My first time for dining in since the pandemic started. Service staff could not have been better both prompt and courteous. So many options to get @ simply Thai and everything I've had is delicious. My favorite go tos are the chicken pad Thai (you can choose your spice level 0-5) and the pineapple fried rice. I haven't had their sushi, but I hear it's really good and I would love to try it sometime. Takeout seems to take at least half an hour because they are usually pretty busy -good for them! Something happened the night I was there with the kitchen. When I arrived there were very few people sitting down in the dining area. I was happy I had gotten there before the rush and sat down. I ordered an appetizer and an entree. 15 minutes later I get my app and was told my entree would be there shortly. Then nothing. I was watching and realized nothing was coming out of the kitchen. Servers kept going in and out empty handed. After another 15 minutes a single bowl of something made its way to one of the tables that had been there before me. I was then told that my entree was "specialized" and out of everyone in the kitchen only one person knew how to make it so it would be a considerable amount of time more before I got it. Nothing was offered as a substitution or solution to this problem. Just waiting. It was an item directly off the menu with no alterations. It had been 55 minutes since the time I sat down to the time I was told this. I asked for my check and was charged for my drink and app (would have been nice to have some sort of accommodation but I digress). I left and went home hungry and dissatisfied. I dont know if the kitchen person working there was new and overwhelmed, quit, or was abducted by aliens but the way this was handled was very poor. I felt bad too because my server was young and I think was being told this stuff by management. I wish I hadnt been so tired and hungry it would have been interesting to see how this dining room (now about 70% full) plus a packed lobby of people waiting, was going to play out. Although I do see quite a few more recent low reviews from others with similar complaints, I have a bad feeling Simply Thai is not much longer for this world. read more
