Everyone knows the drill with no-frills Chinese take-out places like this (which, since the pandemic, increasingly seem to be take-out only). After having tried most such in the Louisville area, I'll say that China 1 is hands-down my favorite (with Oriental Cafe a close second, though OC is the better option if you want to sit and eat). Good food, quick service, reasonable prices, and generous portions (a $12 stir-fry is actually more than I can eat in two meals!). I no longer live in Lou, and this is one of the places I miss, not yet having found a comparable option in Miami. read more

Ordered China 1 for lunch today after recommendation from a friend. We ordered roast pork fried rice with chicken wings, lo mein noodles lunch, egg roll and crab Rangoon. I was able to place the order online without a service fee, which I appreciate. It gave me a 35 minute window for pickup. China 1 called my cell to confirm the order and also to let me know the order was ready. There is a sign on the door to limit 2 people in the lobby. They also have contactless pickup. They have plexiglass over the front area and then a box with doors on each side for your payment and food. After I signed the receipt I put in a bin in the front of the glass. I was very impressed with the process and safety. The pork fried rice and chicken wings were good. The wings were delicious and exactly what I expected for asian wings. They had a good crust and were fried to perfection. The fried rice was good but not the best I've had. But due to the wings I would order the combo again. The lo mein was very good and the kids asked for more! The crab Rangoon was perfect, lots of cream cheese. They also included a sweet and sour sauce for dipping with the order. I placed a Door Dash order and my driver brought Popeyes instead. There was a language barrier as English was not his first language. He could not understand that he'd brought the wrong food and only kept saying my name. I ended up getting a credit for my order which I used to place another order the following week. Why I gave it a second chance I can't say. I got the right food, but I think it was the same food that wasn't picked up the week before! General Tso's Chicken that tasted burnt. So dry I thought I'd break a tooth and two sad egg rolls that resembled petrified tree trunks. Never again. read more

This is a tiny chinese spot that my husband suggested. This is located in a Kroger strip center off Bardstown road. The prices are great! They offer the sam dishes you have grown to expect from places like these. Just a few tables available for eating in. This is a popular place during lunch, most people call in their orders and carry out. There is not a public restroom here, its so small. The food is just ok, I was not impressed in my beef and broccoli lunch meal. The seasoning was super bland. My egg roll was the best part. My husband ordered the General Tso's Chicken. His food was so much better than mine. The wait was not long and food came out super quick. So perfect if you are in a hurry. Much better choices for chinese. read more

I love China 1. I have been a loyal customer since 2009 and I won't stop giving them my business until I move out of state. Their food is consistently hot, fresh, and delicious. What is good to eat here, you ask? Well, everything. Crab Rangoon, steamed dumplings, fried rice, chicken/beef with broccoli, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, bourbon chicken, tangerine chicken, etc. they have lunch specials from around 11am until about 3pm where you can get certain entrees with rice and an eggroll or a soda. The dinner combinations are larger and come with an eggroll, but you do not get the choice of a soda. This place does not deliver, but they have carry out. They also do catering! I got their catering for my grad party and it was relatively inexpensive. If you are shopping at the Kroger in buechel bypass, I would highly recommend this place for all of your lunch and dinner needs! read more

OMG, do not go to this China won a friggin get hot and sour soup and it is nothing but water and taste as old as heck and then I get a fried rice in the smallest they have is for $4.55 and I get home and open it and it's friggin just rice nothing in it I could've bought five bags of rice at the grocery store this place is horrible and when I called the Astor she act like she didn't know what I was talking about! There was nothing special about my entrees. Overdone veggies. Lo mein that needed a lot of soy. Greasy. I won't visit again.

Just came here last night because we wanted take out and the reviews were good. They were justified and we are SO glad we did! It is a clean as a whistle friendly family operated place. The food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the schezuan shrimp - it comes with broccoli, onions, mushrooms and the shrimp is nice and big and not chemically tasting like some places. Also had the ma po bean curd which is very soft tofu with lots of mushrooms and peas - delish. We will be back for sure! read more

Best Chinese Food I've had in a loooong time! The inside is your typical restaurant setting with tables and chairs. But don't got for the ambiance. Go for the food! The food is so good. I've had most everything on the menu and have had no complaints about anything. Especially good is the house lomain and house fried rice. But then there is the egg foo young. I ordered Dragon Pheonix, my son got Sweet and Sour Chicken. Food was so good, prepped quick and not a long wait. The general tsao chicken in the dragon pheonix had some spice to it, exactly what I was looking for, fresh veg and big pieces of shrimp. It was delicious. China 1 has the lock on high quality reasonabley priced Chinese carry-out in the area. They are consistently excellent & when they say 10 minutes - BELIEVE them. My wife & I are regulars & have them dialed-in to our preferences. The homemade hot sauce (50¢) is the real deal. The cooks are top-notch. I eat their at least 3 times a week and tip them even though it is carry out but Sunday 10/23/2016 after paying with my debit card I asked for pepper paste and the lady said 50 cents. I hand her my debit card and she refused to take it and didn't offer it to me. Ordered chicken fried rice and egg roll .....I do not know what kind of chicken is used in this meal...but it tasted horrible. Looked more like some gelatin and had no flavor. The egg roll was burnt and really greasy. I ended up spending $9 on some fried rice which was barely edible. Wil never go back again. read more
