After a series of screwball contractors left me with a potential fire hazard at a property, I was recomended to Simpson Electrical for help. I am SO glad I called!! I have used Simpson now on two properties, a few different projects on each and some pretty big jobs all in all. On one of the properties we realized that we should add a few more cadets last minute. Tenants were moving in in a couple days and it was November, so it was a rush! Simpsons got me scheduled ASAP and got the job done!! They've replaced switches, outlets, installed new fixtures throughout, installed a new 36" hood vent, new ceiling fans and troubleshot someone's hodgepodge mess, just to name a few things, ALLLLL in which I am VERY happy with. I was referred Simpson Electrical from some people on Facebook. I looked them up on CCB and everything was good so I decided to give them a call. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was very nice and scheduled my appointment for a week later. It was a simple issue, one light fixture was out and I couldn't find the cause of it. When Chris arrived at my home...an hour late...he never apologized. I didn't mention his tardiness until the end of work. He took 45 minutes to find the issue but had to go out to his vehicle at least 5 times. This wasted my time (and money). They charge an initial fee of $125 for 30 minutes then $90 for each additional hour. If he didn't need to go back and forth to his vehicle, this would have saved some money. While he was here, he found the cause to be a look black wire in my crawlspace which was an easy fix by just reconnecting the wire to the existing splice. While he was down there, he said the wires were exposed so put them in a box. Upon completion, I asked him how I should pay and he said cash or card. I had my card in my hand and it felt very awkward just waiting for him to enter the info into his phone. I mentioned that he could include the materials (wire box) for free since he was an hour late and his response was, "Was I?". I said, "Yes, you were scheduled to be here between 12pm and 1pm but arrived at 1:54pm." Then he proceeded to blame it on his previous job and never apologized. He offered me a fridge magnet for $25 off my next visit (which he never gave to me). After texting his office, he stated that the materials would be free since they were only $1.42. Great...very nice of them... It finally came to paying. He went over the charges...$125 for initial 30 minutes...$22.50 for additional 15 minutes (which could have been avoided if he didn't go to his car so many times)...and $40 for a State of Oregon Minor Work Permit. What?! What work was done that needed a $40 permit? He said 1 in 10 jobs needed to have a permit for his company's auditing. I told him that he didn't do ANY electrical work and only reconnected an existing wire. I said that I would like that removed. It was awkward but he did end up removing it. He can go charge another person that actually had work done. Overall, Chris was nice, but a little awkward. I don't think I will do business with Simpson Electric again. The fact that they were an hour late, blamed it on the previous job (and never apologized) and tried to charge me an additional permit fee only to save their own butts from an audit was ridiculous. read more

Great customer service, friendly staff, superb communication (Wow!). Will definitely work with them again for my future needs. Chris came out to our home to do diagnostic for issue we had with one of our poorly built upstairs circuits and faulty circuit breaker. He was knowledgeable, and very through on explaining everything to us, giving multiple options/solutions, made it easy to with with our schedule and his. For the follow up visit I was working from home and he was able to keep my power going while he fixed my other circuit, made it contactless and so easy for me-that was incredible. I only was surprised that there wasn't any physical diagnostics done before giving solutions. I thought there would have been a check on the wiring on the circuit having the issue, or measurements at the panel, breaker or outlets like I've had with other electricians. Diagnosis was primarily through conversation of issues we experienced and observations in my home. The communication from their office is next level though. My 1st communication to them was right from within Yelp. They sent texts, emails, reminders, invoices, phone calls, etc. I'm pretty bad at that so they made it effortless. Replacement breaker was our 2nd step in the solutions Chris came up with, and the 2nd cheapest. The 1st being a no cost one that neither of us liked but was nice to hear they weren't trying to bleed me for more and just wanted to provide me with all options. This new breaker has already improved our issues, hoping we don't need to go any further, but I would trust Simpson if we do. read more

Nice men, but.... (I am so upset I cannot write this out)....I waited a week to have them come out...my home is dark and I am scared...when people say they can make a 12noon appointment, then MSU and cancel the appointment..then I am told they open at 7:30 A. M., then saying they open at 8 A.M. and then they cannot guarantee ANY afternoon appointments EVER because "the early job takes longer than expected always" ... Do you want to hire these people? I guess this area is not very competitive? Contractors who only work mornings will loose out on money. I had a lot of business to give them on my upcoming remodel....too bad. read more

He even walked me thru pressing the reset and test buttons in hopes to fix the problem! Bam! It's fixed! They didn't even need to come out! Great crew, great skills. The Simpson Team installed or rewired at least 30 switches, receptacles, and fixtures in our house. They were timely, pleasant and expert in their work. When we had a question after the fact, they returned to address it on their dime as should have been, but since these folks are as strong in their character as in their electrical skills, this was no surprise. read more

I've called on Kevin to troubleshoot an electrical problem with the power to one of our barns on our farm. I won't ever call anyone else. He sent his man out that afternoon and the problems were found and fixed in less than an hour. Kevin and Scott are by far the most accommodating and professional team of electrical contractors out there in my opinion.
