I'm from Arizona visiting my dad and he took me here for breakfast. I ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast with the chocolate almond coffee. It was good and I really enjoyed the coffee. Its a cute little breakfast spot and there was only 1 other person in the restaurant at the time we went so everything came out very quickly. It's worth trying for yourself. It's a cute little spot. When we asked to get our breakfast potatoes more well done, the server said that if she asked the cook to do that she would get yelled at. So we got potatoes that were basically raw. They also didn't have regular pancakes, just one type of cinnamon specialty pancake. Who doesn't have regular pancakes? $40+tip for three omelets and three cups of coffee is too much. Great brunch and a nice hidden secret for weekends in Newark!

This was a fairly disappointing breakfast; the best part was the toast, partly because toast is pretty difficult to mess up. I got the veggie omelet with bell pepper and tomatoes, which came with home fries and toast. The omelet was clearly made from those fake 'egg beaters'- the texture was fairly rubbery and it was tasteless. The fillings were stuffed into the omelet almost like taco fillings, so they just fell out. They should have been incorporated into the batter, like how most omelets are made. The home fries were burned and again, no taste other than burned crisps. My friend got the orange cornmeal pancakes, which I tried and I was not impressed. I couldn't taste the orange flavor at all and really couldn't tell that it wasn't a plain pancake. A heap of syrup made it a bit better, because syrup makes everything better. Needless to say, I will not go back to this place. There are much better places on Main Street to eat breakfast, especially for the price. read more

ive been going to Sinclairs since i was like 10 (i'm 24 now), my sister even worked there when they first opened. they are my fam's Mother's Day staple breakfast spot. great buckwheat style pancakes, great homefries, etc. they rule with breakfast for sure. my only gripe with them is that they run out of stuff they shouldn't... like tofu! wtf! they're a vegan friendly restaurant, that shouldn't happen. they have plenty of other vegan stuff, like fake sausage, but still... they shouldn't run out of tofu. they can get super busy and service can be spotty, but they're just college kids trying to juggle a tray and textbooks at the same time. oh yeah they have super weirdo hours, so call ahead. read more

Well we started a road trip and heard great things about this place and decided to stop along the way. We parked out front without any issue and walked to the door to see a sign which stated sorry we are no longer seating. We looked in the window and noticed numerous seats empty. So we went inside and we quickly met by a waitress who told us they were no longer seating anyone because they were swamped. Literally there were maybe 6 tables of people and many more empty. This place is awfully pretentious for a breakfast joint. You know the spice that comes with ramen noodles? That's what I'm almost positive they put on their potatoes - certainly what it tastes like. They only serve one kind of pancake per day - apparently you can't get regular pancakes. I had never been there before and I tried to order from there like I would any other breakfast restaurant and said, "Scrambled eggs. Bacon. Small stack of pan---" before I was interrupted by a waitress who rolled her eyes and said, "Whoa whoa whoa, this isn't Denny's. You've got to order off of the menu." As if my simple request was too much to figure out. No hosting. You have to seat yourself - which is odd considering how expensive this place is (you can easily spend 40.00 on a simple breakfast for 2). Passive aggressive notes in the bathroom. The message I got from Sinclair's was: You have to eat the food we make, no customization. You have to behave a certain way while you're here, and you've got to pay alot for the privilege - that's why I think it's safe to call this place pretentious (which is funny when you see all the grammatical errors on their menu). I didn't feel appreciated in the least. If you're going to charge that much for breakfast - it better be the best damn breakfast I ever had and the service should be top notch. It was neither. I recommend you go down the street to the IHOP. You'll spend a 3rd of the money and the food will at least be as good if not better. This Main St. cafe is cute and great for breakfast. Fast service and hearty breakfast food. They make over medium eggs almost perfectly and have a rotating menu that includes special pancakes and waffles and whatnot. In town for a couple of UDel hockey games. Ate at Sinclair's for breakfast. I thought it was great. I had a poached egg, cooked perfectly with spinach and swiss cheese on an English muffin. Served with home fries that were delicious. Perfect crust on the big chunks of potatoes and onions with a seasoning combination that was great. Tasted the whole wheat pancakes and they were pretty good too. Waitress was super friendly and attentive. Definitely not a gourmet, upscale spot...just a great local, friendly spot to eat. read more

I was just introduced to Sinclair's a month ago, and I absolutely love it. It's this adorable place on Main Street that has such a friendly staff. The food is healthy and actually tastes good -- every time I go, I get the Little Big Breakfast. It's the perfect size -- little pancakes with a little side of eggs and either bacon or sausage. I've got to say that there is something about the food here that just gets me going in the morning. The bacon is some of the best I've ever had. My friend who was with me said "What do they do to their bacon that everyone else is missing the mark on?" The homefries are great too with just enough heat. Many places that I've had breakfast at leave me with sort of a muted taste and feel.. They're good but there is not enough flavor. That is not the case with Sinclairs. Just ok. This place has that ma & pa atmosphere and the waitstaff to match. I have come here many times and the food is good. I usually stick to eggs & homefries or pancakes. The pancakes are amazing and come with real maple syrup. The homefries are over seasoned and kind of mushy. Solid breakfast place. It's not a high end brunch, it's a little more simple. They do great with pancakes and french toast (seasonal options which I typically can't resist). Their basic egg stuff is a bit weak, ok as a side to your pancakes. The portions could be a little bigger for the price, but it's a good amount of food for breakfast - satisfied but not stuffed. However, I had DELICIOUS eggs-benedict. It is worth mentioning that this may not be a great restaurant for picky eaters. For instance, my boyfriend wanted buttermilk pancakes with sausage. Unfortunately, they did not serve buttermilk pancakes (their flavors change weekly; at the time of our visit, they had only whole wheat and buckwheat). For sausage, they only had turkey or veggie. Let's just start off by saying I made an account to write this review. This place is a true Sin. It is WAY overpriced, food was bad, service was ok, and decor... There was decor? The waiter seemed abrasive and rushed, she couldn't hear what we were saying, mostly because we weren't talking to her, but still thought it was necessary to loudly say, "Speak up, I can't hear you." We then ordered 4 slices of soggy Pepperidge farm raisin cinnamon french toast for $7 no sides, which is about enough to feed a small dog...maybe. We also ordered a veggie, cheddar, and meat omelet, which came with home fries and toast. First off, the omelet was a fold over. The egg had a plastic-y texture with all the toppings tucked in. The table next to us got omelets, ours just looked like they cooked the egg too long before remembering they were making an omelet. The toast, well it's toast and the potatoes were grainy and bland. BAD POTATOES! How in the seven levels of holy heck do you make potatoes bad? That's the question of the century. That's the real sin. Total came out to be $21 and I'm not even full; the one star comes from quick service. The only reason it's Newark's best breakfast is because there aren't any other breakfast places. read more

Saying Sinclairs is the best breakfast in Newark isn't saying much. Breakfast in Newark, let alone on Main Street is average at best. Service was good, thats where it ends. The omelet was dry, and the potatoes had a spice on them that didn't belong. Stick with salt and pepper. Finally, there is the prices. Breakfast (in Newark) should never cost more than $25.00 (2 people), unless drinks are being served. There are better, less expensive options for breakfast in town. read more

I've finally found my go to breakfast place. I've looked over this place for years because it's on main st which usually means fighting through hoards of awful college kids and their parents but I was desperate for breakfast so I figured I'd try it. Firstly, they do have a private lot behind the building which is a must if I'm venturing into the actual town of Newark. It's self seating so we sat next to the window, which provided great people watching. The staff seemed a little harried but were friendly and courteous. The menu was pretty traditional as far as breakfast places go. They also serve lunch and I'm excited to go back and try the tuna melt. I ordered coffee, an espresso, Monterey Jack omelet that came with home fries and toast, and a side of turkey sausage. The pork variety was not available, just turkey and veggie. My boyfriend got coffee, cinnamon raisin French toast, and a side of home fries. Everything was exactly what we wanted. The home fries were bigger chunks than you usually see, but were cooked well. Also the potatoes were cooked with diced onions which imparted a great flavor. They did just need a little salt and pepper. My boyfriend who is way more particular about how his food is cooked than I am even loved it. Apparently he never really enjoys breakfast cooked at restaurants and usually just suffers through what's brought to him, but he said he actually really really loved his French toast and home fries. We both just really liked everything. The interior could definitely use a sprucing up but was clean from what I could tell. Downside is they're only open until 2 and closed Monday. I cannot understand the glowing reviews of this place. Been there twice. Nothing stands out. The servers are very cheery and efficient. That's about it. The food,...... meh. Ordered scrambled eggs, got an overcooked dried out mass of egg loaf. Scrambled eggs are supposed to be fluffy and moist and that is how I ordered them. The rest of the meal was not memorable, just run of the mill potatoes and bacon. The toast was home made (so they say) and it tasted like it was from the day-old bread store. The servers are friendly, fast and really personable. My only low point at all was I really wanted blueberry pancakes but they have one 'type' of pancake per day and that days was pumpkin (sometimes its wheat, buttermilk etc) but blueberry pumpkin didn't sound like a good idea to me. However, the french toast replacement was out of this world. Highly recommend it, especially if you want to escape the normal Main Street places or avoid a dinner or greasy spoon breakfast.
