I had a terrible experience with Doug. I liked the white wine, but explicitly said out loud that we didn't want the red and didn't include it in the order form. He joked that we should add it, and then secretly edited our order form with a $250 bottle without our knowledge. We immediately complained over email, and were met by repeated gaslighting & blame shifting. He did eventually give us most of our money back, although he insisted on waiting until after the return shipment was processed instead of just fixing his mistake right away. read more

I can't express how conceited our host Doug was, it felt like he was inconvenienced our entire visit. I would not recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the hospitality of a $150 per person private tour. He walked us through the production area, up the path to the lake, pointed at it, walked back down the path and pointed to the garden, that was the extent of touring the grounds. When I wanted to purchase a bottle of Pinot Noir, he said the minimum was $1,000 or 6 bottles. I repeated that I only wanted to purchase one bottle and stated I could not meet his minimum. He sold us one bottle and showed us off the property. read more

Really surprised by the poor wine tasting experience as we had very high hopes. The space was gorgeous and the wine was fine, but that was honestly the only positive part of the visit. The host stayed with us during our entire wine tasting, which was a bit overwhelming. It would have been nicer to have him pour and explain the wine notes, then leave us to chat amongst ourselves. We felt pressured to talk with him the whole time. As mentioned, the wine was fine. I wouldn't say it was spectacular, considering the price per tasting. Also given the high price point, the number of wines to taste (5) seemed quite low. Lastly, upon wrapping up, the host casually suggested we spend $1600 on wine. I have never been to a winery in which there was a recommended amount to purchase. It really tainted the wine tasting experience. Especially when we did not purchase anywhere near that and the host's response was, "That's it?! and was upset. Would definitely not recommend given the ample options in the area. read more

Visited this winery for my 30th birthday celebration. Wow! What a way to start our trip to Napa Valley. As we arrived, we entered the property and drove up to the main building. There we met with David. We took a tour of the property with him. We then moved on to tour wine tasting accompanied by a cheese pairing. We learned so much about the wine and the company. Everything was so personalized and so detailed. It felt so intimate that we loved everything about it. Honestly, it was the best wine rating during our entire Napa trip! read more

Beautiful grounds Uneventful tasting I enjoyed the wines, but the yawn-inducing "experience" was underwhelming. Our tasting was held in a gorgeous living room type of space and the wines spread out across a cocktail table. My favorite part was when I was escorted to the outside area and away from the seated portion. It's too bad, the potential for an all around impressive tasting is there, given the quality of the wine. Def not running back to this one. read more

The tasting room indoors and outdoors is gorgeous. The wine was very good. The tasting experience was also pretty good - on the higher end of wine tasting. Our host Doug seemed a bit bothered by our group of 7, but that's okay. The part that was really bad... Doug took our wine order on the paper within the tasting list. Doug sent me home with the wrong wine, and charged me for the wrong wine (not even the right charges for the incorrect wine I was sent home with). I called customer service and was asked to print a label and set pick up time for the next day. They had the right address for pick up, but failed to send me the correct wine to that same address. I reached out 4 weeks later again. They did not contact me. Apparently the order bounced due to their typo in the delivery address. No contact made, no refund when it bounced. *I had to reach out to them* It was finally sent and received later that week. I am extremely disappointed by their lack of customer service, continued mistakes, and zero effort to go the extra mile to make it right. Bummer, since the wine was great. read more

Beautiful place, good wine, dry tasting experience (attribute that partially to the story of the winemaker too - rich investor comes in to make wine). But maybe your service and experience will be better with a more personable and seasoned somm. Tip - There are no hors d'oeuvre with the wine, so come fed and watered unless you want to have high alcohol content in your bloodstream. read more

In November 2024, I hosted a wine tasting for me and my friends for my birthday. My host, whose name I will leave out for now, treated us with a series of micro to blatant aggressions, which I will detail below 1. When we arrived, my friend asked if there was a trash she could throw her water bottle out in. The host said, "Throw it out in the bathroom." 2. While giving us a tour of the vineyard, the host mentioned that groups are allowed to host pizza parties and picnics. He then pointed out that because my boyfriend was only a silver key member, we'd only be allowed to host pizza parties 3. In the tasting room, the host asked my boyfriend how long he had been a member of the vineyard. My boyfriend responded 5 months. The host then went to his office. When the host came back, he told my boyfriend that he had checked, and my boyfriend had only been a member for 4 years 4. The host mentioned that I had spent $X amount on the tasting for my friends (group of 6) and that if they each purchased two bottles, I would get the money back 5. When one of my friends asked if he could have an additional pour from the bottle that was already opened (and 75%) empty, the host told my friend that "he could buy a bottle." 6. Toward the end of the tasting (4 pm), after my boyfriend had purchased a bottle of rose and when it became apparent that no one else in the group was going to buy any bottles, the host opened the main door of the tasting room which let in the cold winter air. We kept closing the door to keep out the cold, but the host kept reopening it (our tasting had not ended yet) At 4:30 pm, the host swung open the door again and told us, "It's closing time." read more

"pretentious" how I would describe this place. The host was so dry which made wine taste horrible... $400 wine tasting flight wasn't worth it... too bad some of my friends rave about this vineyard. Service here has gone downhill since my last visit in 2018 - do not bother visiting this location now. Before, staff were friendly and very personable. Now, there's an air of complete indifference to visitors and a lack of basic customer service. I recently visited to pick up wine and felt very not welcomed - as if I owed them a favor for trying to do business with them. Eve getting into the estate was an ordeal. I rang the front entrance intercom and also called them several times to no avail. However, when a caucasian couple rang the front door, they were miraculously let in immediately. I was given no explanation why I was denied access, nor was there any attempt to ease my frustrations. It's also very curious to note that the ethnicities of those who have had good vs bad experiences at this place. It's almost they have a bias to who receives good service. read more

We spent a wonderful 90 minutes with Beth and Richie at Sinegal Estate. Beth greeted us with a welcome glass of their (delicious) Sauvignon Blanc and then showed us the fermentation vats and caves, explaining the Estate's wine-making processes. Then we took a short walk up to the beautiful lake and learned about the vines growing on the property. After the tour we settled into the tasting room, which feels more like a living room. Comfortable seating, bookshelves, and a low table for the wine glasses. Windows facing the estate let us see the lovely grounds and the rain while we tasted. The Pinot Noir was delectable, even to people who aren't Pinot fans. Then came the Cabs. The white label Cabernet Sauvignon was dark and flavorful and warming. The reserve Cabernet was that times 100. Beth and Richie were easy companions, with whom we enjoyed chatting while we sipped. My husband and I had a great time and the tasting flew by. If you are able to do it, we enthusiastically recommend the tasting and tour at Sinegal Estate. Tip: if you take a ride share make sure the driver follows the winery's directions instead of GPS. read more

Just got back from a Sinegal visit and I'm a bit disappointed. I've been coming to Sinegal since they opened. In fact, the first time I visited, the walls of the primary tasting room were still not fully decorated. The wines are amazing. There's no doubt about that. And the facilities are equally impressive. However, in the past 3ish years, the personal touch, the "ritz-carlton" level of hospitality has almost completely faded. I know that David and Jim are retail experts (costco...) but I think they've lost sight of the value of investing in customers to then create even better, higher-value customers (club members). Here's a few examples of what I mean: I used to call them up and I'd be greeted by a friendly voice and we'd chat for a minute about what's been going on at the winery, how the wines are turning out, etc. etc. Then she'd ask for my tasting visit expectations and bing bang boom, I'd show up (always bringing guests) and have a truly luxurious and unique experience. Friendly, casual, personal. Now, the phone conversation is completely transactional, almost with a "can't be bothered" attitude. It's become more like the rest of the mid-tier experiences in the valley though these days. Tastings are now $100 per person, visits much more regimented (process = efficiencies says the costco gods), you have to use their website to book appointments, tasting host practically sits over your shoulder watching you taste ever last drop and keeps a watchful eye in case you decide to wander about the different areas of the property, it's just really gone away from the unique experience it used to offer. I think that's partially due to some staff turn over, none of the originally hospitality folks are there anymore. Or maybe they can't help themselves in trying to monetize every aspect of their new venture. It used to feel like a passion project, and now it has a certain commercialized tone about it... again, maybe the costco guys just can't help themselves. The thing the hospitality staff is missing is that your best customers are going to be your club members but it's difficult to entice a visitor to become a club member if they visit isn't truly something special from the rest of the valley - there's just too many wonderful places with wonderful wines. Out of the 16 visitors I've brought to Sinegal, only the first 4 became members - that's when the experience was truly elevated. The rest of my friends and family have lefts saying "great wine, cool place, but I'd rather be a member at XYZ..." That says to me that the initial upfront investment in creating new members isn't as strong or effective as it used to be. I'll go back of course, and I am sure, but my most recent visit sort of confirmed what I was afraid was starting to happen. read more

I've been to Napa a lot over the years and always say there is no such thing as a bad trip to Napa. This trip was no exception. Sinegal has great wine and a beautiful property. There were some staffing issues on the day of our visit and our party of 8 had a couple of bumps, but when ownership became aware they fixed the situation with haste and class. It is obvious they care about their estate and your experience while visiting and made an effort to make it right. Sometimes you can learn more about a company when things don't go perfectly and you get a glimpse into their true character. I was impressed with ownership and I would return and enjoy their beautiful wine and property. read more

My friend and I went to the winery to pick up some online ordered wines today (August 7, 2021) at around 1:24pm. We were at their gate for some time until it took us about 5 buzz on the gate and 3 phone calls. Until another car buzzed in and they let them in the first try. To be fair, they had a reservation for today. BUT we did have an online reservation order confirmed for pick up today. I have heard good things about the Estate and how their wines are exclusive, private, and DECENT. However, I don't think I would come back to this estate. As what previous Yelp reviewers would say, there are much more better wineries that offer better views with better service. read more

For the reputation of this winery and the price of $150 to come and taste there wine I felt that the service was highly lacking. The wine was great and the grounds were indeed beautiful but our host was not the most welcoming. He never left and we felt like we were being watch. It did make trying to have a conversation with my friends awkward. Kinda like having a babysitter. It felt like they were waiting for us to do something wrong. Our experience with Thomas was fabulous. The property is gorgeous, the wine is phenomenal, and I have never seen such an immaculate fermentation room. The tasting was private, serene, and informative. We signed up for the Gold Club (although there is a Platinum) and we will be back for an event later this year. Definitely a must see in Napa! The wines are phenomenal and the estate is incredible. Aside from the beautiful modern architecture and designs, the grounds boast a beautiful lake, garden and even goats and pigs. The wine cave is also amazing! We went for the first time last summer, and made a point to go back when we came to Napa again this weekend. We had both tastings with Doug who is so friendly, and so knowledgeable. Your host, Doug, was very condescending, pretentious, and childish. He asked us about other wineries we had been to or plan to visit just to bad-mouth every one of them, shoot down our opinions, and act as if Sinegal could do no wrong. He would not leave us alone to enjoy our tasting which made our group very uncomfortable. His attitude and demeanor are what give napa valley its stuck-up reputation. By the end of our tasting, each one of us left angry at something he said. We could not believe this was the attitude of the host of a winery that costs $150 for each tasting. We will not return, and won't recommend this winery to anyone we know. read more

A very nice experience from start to finish. I was introduced to Sinegal while tasting at pebble beach food and wine and grabbed a card for next time I was up in Napa. I emailed and set up an appointment for my friend and me. We were greeted in the parking lot and taken on a small tour before being seated in a lovely room for tasting. I was impressed with the knowledgeable staff and the tasty wine. We weren't rushed at all (asked if we wanted to revisit any wines) and enjoyed asking questions. Out of 13 wineries we experienced this trip to Napa, Sinegal was our shining star. We were fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation due to a cancelation. Beth was incredible and took excellent care of us. The wines were spectacular and shockingly reasonable for what they could be charging for that caliber of wine. While the grounds are beautiful, the winery unbelievable, the best part is their staff. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and truly interesting in insuring an enjoyable visit! I never felt rushed and no question went unanswered. Be sure to take a walk to see the gardens, which are organic and provide amazing local produce! The grounds are serenity defined. Ugh. This place is so stunning it hurts. Love their intimate tasting room and outdoor seating. Cozy living room style decor and beautiful modern patio seating. They only do 3 tastings a day and their wine is to die for. The Reserve Cabernet makes me cry. And the serene lake with gazebo, porch swings, picnic patio, ducks, wind gently blowing tree leaves. What a magical place to be! It was a beautiful day and we were able to enjoy the estate to the fullest. The wine was spectacular! I loved the tasting room which had a cool bookshelf and great/amazing art on the opposite wall. Also, the framed key was a great conversation piece and very symbolic to the logo of the estate. BUT, what really made this place special was the lake. You can continue the tour and enjoy the wine sitting lakeside on a bench, gazebo, or swing. Sitting up by the lake is very expressive of the wine, because everything is beautiful, alluring, and inspiring. In short, we loved the estate and the wine. We'll be back! read more

Good wine. Inferior tasting experience. Our host seemed knowledgeable enough. But he was unprofessional and seemed to get bored with us. At one point he burped during our conversation. He did excuse himself. But didn't seem overly embarrassed. He was not very polished and articulate regarding his presentation. Especially when compared to other high end wineries we visited. We asked about walking into the vineyard and he said it wouldn't be safe in case they had just sprayed. Then he caught himself and said they don't spray. But maybe their neighbors do...what? A terrible statement when the winery claims to be organic. Also, be aware that the full cost of your tasting may not apply to your wine. He said he would cover our tasting with at $300 purchase. Quite possibly the most beautiful property in Napa Valley. When you walk to the lake, sit on the swing with a great glass of Sinegal wine, it's heaven on earth. Wow! Just read the review, (if you want to call it that) dated 11/16/2015. What a sad person this must be to demean the owner of this Winery. What motivates people to say such outrageous things is beyond me. If the wine is not to this Sommelier's liking, I think it is appropriate to say just that, but to disparage Mr. Sinegal for purchasing a Winery which produces excellent wine is beyond the pale. read more
