You can't do any better than having your car repaired by Mr. Singleton. First of all, they have been in business since 1974. Also, it's a family-owned business, owned by real Charlestonians! One thing that's very impressive is that they do a good business even though their location is next to a "Cabaret!" Don't be put off by appearances, however. Singleton's is professional, skilled, and wonderful! They did a GREAT job fixing up my car! I was on my romantic honeymoon... and I hit my car into a foot-high median!! Mr Singleton went the extra mile with my insurance co to help me get original Toyota parts for my almost new Tacoma when I was rammed from the rear by a reckless driver. So my wife totally messed up our car while driving through Charleston. By the grace of God, the nearest body shop was Singleton's. We called them and the manager of the body shop, Josetta, assured us that everything would be okay. Our car barely made it there. But Joe and Lamont, the owner and the technician who worked on our car, made sure that the job was not only done right, but quickly. I accidentally backed into a pole and left some scratches on my bumper, so I shopped around for quotes. My car is about 10 years old so I wasn't looking for perfection - just to spruce it up. I went by for an estimate and was greeted courteously by his daughter. Mr. Singleton beat every other estimate by a long shot, which made me skeptical. I just picked up my car and I could not be more pleased. My bumper looks great and the paint job is flawless. The color matches exactly. I would have no problem recommending them for paint work - be it for a beater or a BMW. Great service, great people. read more

Mr. Singleton wrote an estimate that was very high for the damages to my car in an accident ($4,450). At first, I was happy. Wow, was my first thought, but my insurance company wouldn't pay that amount & provided an estimate of their own ($1,250). When I got the check for $1,250 from my insurance company I called the insurance company & spoke with the representative who was handling my claim. I said something like, "Well I guess that's it". He said, "No, not necessarily. If Mr. Singleton could provide pictures of some of the items on his estimate, more money could be approved for the claim". He went on to say, "Some of the damages Mr. Singleton put on the estimate, were not visible in the photos that were sent. For instance, if a damaged part was behind something else it would have to be made visible so a picture could be taken & the claim could be adjusted". I told Mr. Singleton what the insurance rep said & he agreed to comply with the request for more photos & said that he would contact the rep personally & that since the estimates were so far apart they would probably be able to arrive at a dollar amt. somewhere in the middle. That didn't happen. The pictures taken were the same as what the insurance company already had. No attempt was made to show damage that was on his estimate, which couldn't be seen in prior photos. I don't know if he even sent them. The insurance company I thought had a good point, they couldn't pay for damages that they couldn't see. Well, that's as far as it went. Not only did he drop the ball by failing to do what he had promised to do, but he didn't return the many, many, many attempts I made to contact him in my efforts to find out what was going on, ie had he contacted the insurance claim adjuster? Had he sent the photos? I even went to the shop several times but either he wasn't there or he was unavailable. I was very understanding of the delays up till a certain point. I showed him respect as the shop owner. He blew me off as the customer. Not cool! read more

Mr. Joseph runs an honest operation, does a great body and paint job and stands behind his work. Hendrix disrespected my time being over 30 minutes late for my estimate and was over DOUBLE the price. NO THANK YOU. I like my money in my pocket. Singletons was easy to schedule, delivered as promised and will see me again if I have a need for paint and body work. Excellent work, master at his craft, and the best part for me: a man I can trust. When I left New Orleans, I thought I would never find another man like Mr. Phillip Bonura. He was my last goodbye before I left, and I cried. I am happy to say, I was mistaken. Mr. Singleton repaired my car's body damage, and he is about to repair the body damage done to my mother's car. In the last 2 months, both of our cars have been run into while parked on our street.
