Singular was the first place my friends and I tried during our trip to PR. I'm not sure if it's called Singular because there is only one person serving as the waiter, bartender...(and potentially chef), but there was only one person running the whole business when we were there. Drinks wise, this place has pretty decent and fun drunks! We had their spin of a pina colado and the traditional mojito. My friends and I ordered their carne frites and fried chicken. The carne fritas were good, but it was an overwhelming amount of fried food when paired with the plantains. The portions were generous, but you really don't need to eat that amount of fried pork or chicken. My friends and I all felt a little unwell after feasting out I'm skeptical to give this place a higher review, just because they had questionable menu items, like pasta Alfredo . There were a few unhappy tables that complained about their dishes, so I would just read more before choosing this place. read more

Don't hesitate, EAT HERE. The food is IMPECCABLE. The staff and owner Rikardo running the show is just an incredible, genuine human being. They've only taken over for two months so disregard any reviews from before then! We were walked through the ingredients of the items on the menu and given spot on recommendations. We had the Thai cucumber salad, pork mango tacos, cheese balls, Thai chicken wings, and brownie dessert. Let me tell you, I FOODGASMED. The pork tacos stole the show. Succulent pulled pork, house sauce, fresh cilantro, chopped mango, pickled onion, and a super soft warm tortilla to wrap up all the goodness. Spoiler alert: we ordered another round. The Thai cucumber salad was zesty, saucy, added spice for heat. It was refreshing unami flavor, and perfectly simple yet always pulled us back in. Umami means "essence of deliciousness" in Japanese and that's what this salad was. Spoiler alert: we ordered another round! The Thai wings, were fireeeee. We ordered this in the second round of appetizers, and they were perfect. The skin was super crispy and fried in a light way, the chicken was juicy, the Thai sauce was perfectly balanced and slathered. Best wings I've had. If you've ever been to Chubby Noodle in San Francisco, they are almost identical. The cheese balls were cheddar, crispy on the outside and gooey center. Yum. The dessert, which I did not need and was stuffed by the time I ordered it, was delicious. A brownie, ice cream, whipped cream combo. All housemade of course, the brownie was more of a Blondie, in that it wasn't overly sweet, the vanilla ice cream was shaved ice style, and the whole thing was topped with fresh crushed peanuts. We loved the appetizers so much that we didn't move on to the main entrees that looked incredible. All farm to table, perfectly balanced. Ambiance note: the music is good vibes and the lighting is soft for those selfies Bartender is a wizard with cocktails, can make anything... you know it's going to be craft when he has jalapeño simple syrup. Nice location and atmosphere. Very service. But average drinks that are a little sweet and not strong. Croquettes we're pretty tasty. Mostly just a spot to cool off and refresh. Just in from our flight we ran across this gem in Old San Juan. Just under new ownership, everything was wonderful. The only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the limited seating, didn't bother us but watched a few pass out up because of it. We had a burger, empsnadas and Mahi Mahi. Was hesitant as the reviews weren't the greatest but since we were staying in the hotel Convento thought what the hell. We were greeted immediately by a friendly server and offered any table that was available. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the breeze, and what a fun ambience! We had some of the craft cocktails and to be honest each one was really good and strong that I couldn't tell you which was my favorite! One of the best spots we tried in old san juan! We stopped by on a slower Tuesday night, mostly because so many of the restaurants are closed on Tuesdays. I had the Mahi Mahi with tostones, it was DELICIOUS. My boyfriend had the beef stew and it came with lots of meat. They had a two for one on the cocktails, so we ordered 2 mules and they were so good. Our server was attentive and friendly and took the time to explain everything on the menu.
