Upon meeting Dr. Hernandez we knew right away that she was the right doctor for us. Her patience, understanding, and loving nature made us feel completely comfortable. She shared personal stories about her own children and their allergies. She was kind and took the time to get to know us and really listened to our thoughts and our concerns. The office is clean and cutely decorated with Minions throughout the office. Dr. Hernandez is so personable, she takes the time and talks through every detail with you. Her honesty and outlook on treatments made us know that we were making the right decisions for our little guy. Her office staff and nurses are always so kind and patient. Especially when working with an upset toddler. They take their time and it is so appreciated. We've been to see Dr. Hernandez three times now, and although our visits aren't always pleasant due to testing, we're happy with the track we're on and happy to have Dr. Hernandez and her staff to guide us through. I highly recommend Dr. Hernandez and her staff.

I wish this immunologist had twitter so I could follow her like a food truck. She has a CRAZY…read moreschedule spread over 2 locations; Gables on Mondays and Wednesdays, and her PA (physician's assistant) sees patients on Fridays. On Tuesdays, every other Thursday, and 1 Saturday a month, you can find her slangin' her trade in H-Town (Hialeah). If you have an inkling that sometime in the future you'll need an allergist, make an appointment! You can always cancel. Had I not worked with her brother, Gervasio Lamas, MD, on a project; I would've waited 2 or 3 months to be seen. When I seek medical attention, I usually have a good idea of what's wrong because I go to the library and check out a current PDR (Physicians' Desk Reference). I don't say a word though; because there's that chance I'll influence the diagnosis. Once the physician confirms what's wrong is when I become a real pain in the ass. I do my research because I'm not getting swindled into paying co-pays for unnecessary lab work, or prescriptions (pharmaceutical antihistamines are among the most costly). I'm also not afraid to ask my health care professional if the time consuming, painful, and expensive treatments are medically necessary. I feel comfortable making Dr. Lamas suffer because she is a good listener, and is comfortable explaining everything, in English and Spanish. Something as delicate as your immune system, you don't want a doctor like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FdJlKc4W68 Non-malfeasance, BITCH! Unfortunately I didn't like what she had to tell me. Like the Gap Band once said, "she dropped the bomb on me." Thanks to her now I know I'm allergic to; Baker's Yeast, Brazil Nuts, Chicken Eggs, Cottonseed Oil, Cranberry, Garlic, Kidney Beans, Milk, Mustard, Pinto Beans, and the kiss of death and strongest allergy....BREWER'S YEAST. Do you know how many fun things have brewer's yeast in them??? Pretty much every alcoholic beverage that isn't clear, and it's especially abundant in beer and wine. I don't really have strong reactions to any single allergen, but they are common, and usually work in unison to mess me up. Mark Twain summed up my philosophy about dealing with ailments, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." In other words, I don't give a FUC...they'll pry a pony keg and a jug o' wine from my cold, dead hands. I guess it all depends what you do with the information you're given, my best advice is follow your treatment regimen. . p.s. Avoid Benadryl, Claratin, Zyrtec, or other over-the-counter antihistamines if you plan to get blood work, or the pinprick skin test Sergio F. mentioned in his review of the Coral Way location. It will screw your results!

Avoid this place at all costs…read more I waited over an hour past my appointment time. Saw the doctor for about three minutes. Then waited for some assistant lady to give me my allergy tests. The lady spoke ZERO English and just started stabbing me with needles without explaining anything or even saying anything! I yanked my arm back and demanded someone who actually knew the language and could explain what their doing and why ect... I asked her "why does this test take an hour?" And her response word for word was "oh I don't know" ummmm excuse me? Isn't it their job to know? Anyways this was in August. The dr saw me again after my tests and told me I'm allergic to peanuts and soy now. And just gave me a long list of things to avoid. She didn't offer any prescription or tell me I could take Claritin before eating soy and be fine ect. Just gave me a super long list of things to never eat again... I had to call back myself asking to get something to have Incase I do have soy or peanuts by accident (I break out into hives and my throat starts to close and my eyes swell shut - I had mentioned this to her in the beginning of the appointment as well). So they finally called in a few prescriptions for me to have for emergency's and when I'm traveling .... steroids and an epi pen. Well the epi pen is $300 without insurance but there's a program they referred me to that sends you a free one if you're a US citizen, make less than 100k a year and don't have health insurance. This office was suppose to fax this program these forms and my information ect. This was in early AUGUST. It's now almost October and I haven't received anything. The doctors office won't call and follow up for me. They gave me a number to call but those people just transferred me around for 30 minutes and no one knew what I was talking about or could help me. I doubt they even sent my information. This place is a scam and also a disgusting unsanitary building. I had a friend go there after me for the same test, and they charged her 4 times as much and didn't diagnose her correctly. She went and got a second opinion and Dr Ana mamas office was completely wrong! These people are just taking advantage of people and needs to be shut down! I'm sure they're violating tons of health codes anyways so hopefully they won't be around anymore after I report them to BBB.
