Patty melt & Shrimp and Grits
    Avree R.

Stopped in here for dinner while visiting Sanibel beach for the day. Not many parking spots, but we got lucky and found one right in the front. Inside is nothing special. There's a bar area right once you walk in and then a more classic dining area with booths alongside the wall and tables in the middle. We ordered two shrimp dishes. The drunken shrimp, which my husband was a major fan of! He's not a bread guy but there is a French baguette drenched in this delightful sauce and it soaks it up wonderfully. Was such a great bite! The second shrimp dishes was the shrimp and grits, which compared to the first we could have skipped on. It's wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as the other! I ordered the patty melt and this hit the spot! The fries were larger and very good, a little cold though. The patty melt had the delicious onions and sauce that sat on the rye bread beautifully. I could only eat half, but finished the rest on the car ride home because it was that good! Service is fast, food comes out fairly fast as well. Manager kept walking around checking on everyone which was nice, but he would stare at the waitresses with the most judgmental face which wasn't necessary. As if they weren't doing their jobs properly.

Captiva is a place our family would refer to as a home away from home. We always go to all of our favorite restaurants and it's always a slam dunk. This year we decided to try a new location, The Shipyard. The Shipyard is located at Tween Waters resort. We ended up dining here twice during the trip. You do not need to be staying here, in order to dine here. We did make a reservation but it is not needed. Inside is not super large, so I could see it getting really busy during peak seasons. They do have a bar with seats and there were quite a few people that were just sitting at the bar. They have a few booths, tables and high tops. The restaurant has a nautical theme throughout with buoys, boat ropes, lanterns and more. Once we were seated, we decided to start with drinks. This would give us time to look at the menu. I ordered a Belvedere Dirty Martini, which came with blue cheese olives. It was a 10 out of 10. My wife ordered a Key Lime Pie Martini. She said it was delicious and loved the graham cracker rim. My mother in law ordered a white wine, My sister in law went with a classic Mai Tai. We got a second round of drinks later on, ordering the same drinks. For our dinner my parents in laws ordered the burger which was good, they also ordered the crab cakes which were also very delicious. My sister in law ordered a grouper Ruben. It came fried and she had asked for blackened and it was very soggy with a ton of the sauce. I order the salmon BLT and that was really good. It had a really nice size peice of salmon. We also tried the crab bisque which was fantastic and the calamari! We really enjoyed both of these, I would for sure get them again! I ordered a chicken salad on the first night and it was really terrible. There was barely any chicken and it was mostly Lo Mein noodles on top. Honestly it was more like a coleslaw not a salad. By far our favorite dish (and the dish I ordered twice) was the Sesame Blackened Salmon. This was pan-seared sesame blackened Scottish Salmon, coconut rice, crisp stir-fry veggies with "Red Pepper Jam" and Sweet Soy. Overall, I would highly recommend this location. This was new to us this year and we ended up coming twice. We will be adding this to our list places.

We have been visiting Captiva Island for over 30 years. We have our favorite restaurants on the island that we hit each and every year. This year we decided to try something new. We got there a little late this year and my parents were tired. They didn't want to have to go to far from our resort for dinner so we tried The Shipyard. I am so glad we did because it was so good we ended up coming here twice in the one week we were here. Shipyard is located at Tween Waters resort. There is actually a couple of restaurants at this resort but they are open to everyone, you do not need to be staying here. We did make a reservation but it is not needed. Inside is not super large, so I could see it getting really busy during peak seasons. They do have a bar with seats and there were quite a few people that were just sitting at the bar. They have a few booths, tables and high tops. There is definitely a nautical theme throughout with buoys, boat ropes, lanterns and more. I loved the theming and the feel inside. They also have tons on windows along one side, which if you don't know, have the best sunset views you will ever see. Captiva is known for their beautiful sunsets. We started with cocktails. I wanted something unique so I went with the key lime pie martini which was delicious and had a nice graham cracker rim. My mom ordered a wine, my husband ordered a dirty martini which had blue cheese stuffed olives! My sister went with another tropical drink, a class Mai Tai. It was very good! We ended up ordering a second round, and her Mai Tai was served in a better glass the second time. For food we had a wide variety of items since we went twice. My parents ordered their burger which was good, they also ordered the crab cakes which were also very delicious. My sister ordered a grouper Ruben which was the only item we were not a huge fan of. It came fried and she had asked for blackened and it was very soggy with all the sauce. But my husband order the salmon BLT and that was really good. It had a really nice size peice of salmon. We also tried the crab bisque which was fantastic and the calamari! We really enjoyed both of these, I would for sure get them again! My husband ordered a chicken salad on the first night and it was really terrible. There was hardly any chicken and it was mostly Lo Mein noodles on top. We were disappointed, it was more like a coleslaw not a salad. By far our favorite dish (and the dish I ordered twice) was the Sesame Blackened Salmon for $26. This was pan-seared sesame blackened Scottish Salmon, coconut rice, crisp stir-fry veggies with "Red Pepper Jam" and Sweet Soy. The sweet soy was so good, I would purchase a jar of it and use all the time. The red pepper jam was fine, nothing special, I also ordered it on the side. Overall, I would highly recommend this location. This was new to us this year and we ended up coming twice. The food is fantastic and on certain nights they are making fresh pizza. It smelled delicious and looked really good as it went by. We will for sure be adding this to our list of must go places and I recommend you add it to yours.

Their breakfast menu is amazing. It is so hard to decide what to order because there are so many wonderful things. Luckily, I will be able to go back and try some others. I ordered the banana bread French toast and it was absolutely amazing. The service was very good and they do serve Starbucks coffee.

Prior to Hurricane Ian, this was formerly known as the Crow's Nest (that is now upstairs and a steakhouse). The decor is still very nautical either a large bar section. There is a large variety of food as well as a robust pizza menu. Our server was Amanda and she was efficient. My sandwich was delicious and I enjoyed the Cole slaw so much I wondered ugh I could make something similar at home. Serving sizes were generous.

I'm glad there are places on Captiva that are open. First time visiting and dining g at the Shipyard. Great atmosphere. Small but decent menu, but not the same as the choices listed on Yelp. Maybe it is the islands but 2nd burger I have had in as many days, and the burger is cooked fantastic and the bacon is way over cooked (in fact charred). Home-made BBQ chips were a bit overcooked as well. I did sample the pineapple slaw, and it was quite tasty.

    Tender Fried Calamari

I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant! This is such a cute American restaurant located in the Tweens resort in Captiva. I was here for 4 days and came here for dinner two of the days; we did not regret it at all! The restaurant itself is medium sized and a tad more higher end than casual, but nothing too fancy at all. It was the perfect place for dinner and drinks. They have a big bar inside and many tables great for groups. Our server Ashlee was awesome! So funny, personable, and attentive. The food was a hit, too Mac and cheese dip - 9/10: super cheesy queso dip with elbow macaroni served with colorful tortilla chips. Good for cheese lovers! Fish tacos: 9.5/10: fresh, flavorful, and pretty filled for 2 tacos. Fried calamari salad: 9.5/10: this was a hit. Loved the crispy wontons, calamari, and dressing. Onion rings - 9/10: crispy and delicious. I didn't personally try other dishes, but the people I was with got various burgers, the avocado caesar salad, roasted vegetable primavera, BLT, and the fried shrimp dinner and all said each meal was a 10/10. The drinks here are tropical and great, too. Everything was affordable and I'd totally go here again! Highly recommend if you're in Captiva!

    Grilled Shipyard Grouper Sandwich
    Brad G.

We arrived at Tween Waters pretty late and we were happy that the Shipyard was still open. Frank was our server and was excellent. We ordered the ceviche for an appetizer and it was excellent! We both then ordered the grilled grouper sandwich and it was very good as well. It suffered by comparison to Lazy Flamingo's Mesquite grilled grouper sandwich but it's still a great sandwich.

Stopped here for breakfast while staying here and couldn't be more impressed. I got French toast which was perfection. Wife got the shipyard omelette and again it was spot on delicious. Service was good. Highly recommend

Good food and good service. We had dinner at the shipyard tonight, it used to be the crows nest, and I was been renamed. It has good, basic seafood. We started with a good salad and a delicious appetizer called drunken shrimp, which is shrimp steamed in beer and served in a tomato garlic, sweet and sour Sauce with garlic. Delicious! Then we had a very good grilled salmon, with sesame, soy honey glaze and a peanut coleslaw. I had a decent crabcake with coleslaw and coconut rice. All in all, a nice meal. Service was good.

We stopped in for lunch instead of dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our trip to Sanibel. We started with the crab cakes served with lobster sauced mango coleslaw, and jasmine rice. The flavors worked incredibly well together, with the sweetness of the mango and rice perfectly complementing the crab cakes and lobster sauce. For our entrées, we had the blackened grouper with yellow rice and black beans. Everything on the plate paired so well, and the grouper was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. This took me back to other fantastic fish dishes in other islands like Hawaii, the keys, the Caribbean, etc... The piña colada was delicious and made the experience even more fun because it was served inside a real pineapple. It was refreshing and not too sweet, definitely something I would order again. We finished our meal with the key lime pie, which was the perfect ending. It was creamy, tart, and exactly what you hope for when ordering key lime pie in Florida. Before visiting, I noticed quite a few reviews mentioning long wait times. Thankfully, that wasn't our experience at all. We visited during lunch, so that may have made a difference, but we were seated quickly and received excellent service throughout our meal. Jenna was incredible, funny, and nice. Just about the entire staff has some whimsy about them. Telling us the history of the location and cracking jokes. I can honestly say I would probably drive the four hours to Sanibel just to eat at the Bubble Room again. Not because of the decorations or for the service, (these were great) but because the food left me craving more! The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience made it well worth the trip. If you're visiting Sanibel and wondering if it's worth the hype, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try. Next time I'm going for dinner for sure!

The dock was well maintained and the restaurant/bar has a decent feel with sand all around. It was a super hot day so we made our way inside and snagged one of the few tables that was in there. My brother and I made our way to the bar outside to order drinks for our group. We ordered 2 watermelon mojitos, a margarita, and a strawberry lemonade. The drinks were all served in regular plastic solo cup size cups. I paid $80. This is astronomical especially for what we received. I'm not new to the island hopping life but this was way overpriced. The Watermelon mojito had a sort of phoney taste to it. Maybe it was not fresh juice used. I was told the margarita was just mehhh. But that price for 3 alcoholic drinks and 1 plain lemonade still gets me. This is definitely not the spot to stay for a long time and enjoy many drinks over an afternoon.

Also, the bartenders lie about the prices to intentionally mislead customers. Extremely OVERPRICED drinks! I'm debating alerting the BBB about my experience. Mainstay offers a 16oz glass or a 20oz 'bucket' mixed drink choice. When ordering, I asked the male bartender on 3/17 (St Paddy's) the difference in prices and was told that "The bucket is a better deal if you plan to order two or more drinks since it's only $2 more and you only pay the extra charge for the bucket on the first drink". Great - i planned to order 2-3 drinks so it made sense for me to pay extra for the 20oz 'bucket' drink. When I went up to order my 2nd drink it was a female bartender who took my order this time. I held my empty 'bucket' up to show her I had already purchased it and ordered the Mai Tai in a bucket. I asked if I need to give her my bucket to refill and she said 'no, hold on to it we'll give you a new one'. Well, she did give me a new one but she also charged me $13 AGAIN for the 'bucket' charge. So I paid $20 for the drink + $13 for the bucket. $33 for the drink. The 16oz drink is $18. Bartenders intentionally mislead customers. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.

Parking was tight but we were able to find a spot. Service was a little slow and a bit curt, but despite us coming at an off-hour (~3pm), the restaurant was pretty full and lively, so I'll give service a pass. We started with the calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was excellent! It was served hot and each piece was tender - no notes. I also sampled the shrimp bisque but it was quite chunky/thick and not creamy. It felt like the texture came from puréeing the shrimp which I found to be off-putting. It's served with oyster crackers. My friend and I ordered the seafood platter, which is big enough to share. It came with clam strips, fried shrimp, peel and eat steamed shrimp, a piece of fried fish, a single bbq shrimp, French fries (similar to McDonald's shoestring fries), coleslaw, and all the necessary condiments - tartar sauce, cocktail sauces, and an aioli. It was quite filling. My favorites from the platter were the fried shrimp and steamed shrimp - they were cooked nicely and had good texture. While we were eating, the table next to us ordered the shrimp platter and crunchy shrimp - both looked really good. I was least impressed by the lone bbq shrimp - it was a grilled shrimp and topped with bbq sauce, which didn't add anything. You'd think because there was only one piece of shrimp, that it would be something special... it was anything but. Our table also ordered the Chicken Marco Rosa (chicken breast with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, basil, and a lemon butter sauce, served with potatoes and green beans) and shrimp tacos. The lemon butter sauce was very tasty. The shrimp tacos come with two tacos and are also served with chips and salsa. The tortilla chips are comically and obviously store-bought. Overall, I would say the food is good, but nothing exceptional or worth going out of your way for. The grouper sandwich is market price, which was $40+ (which I find absurd). The Mucky Duck is "THE place to be" at sunset, but when you come at a time other than sunset, it's pretty average.

We are vacationing with a group of 10 on North Captiva Island, and decided to spend the afternoon…read morepoolside. I'm so glad we did. This turned out to be one of our favorite stops on the island so far! We were lucky enough to have Rene as our server--friendly, upbeat, and genuinely helpful. She offered thoughtful recommendations and never missed a beat, even with a larger group. Let's talk food & drinks: Key Lime Frozen Drink - My brother ordered this and it was the standout of the day. Creamy, tart, and tropical. Like Key Lime Pie in a glass! Chicken Tenders & Fries - My daughter gave these a big thumbs up. The fries were golden, crispy, and super fresh--not greasy at all. Chicken BLT - I ordered this and skipped the brioche bun (though it looked amazing!). Even bun-less, it was flavorful and satisfying. Blackened Grouper Tacos - My dad went with these and they looked fantastic--fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. He also had a Rum Runner, which was strong, smooth, and perfectly blended. (Not for the faint of heart!) The poolside ambiance was exactly what you want on a sunny island day--lively music, a splashing fountain, and a relaxed crowd. We didn't feel rushed, and it was easy to just settle in and enjoy the afternoon. Whether you are staying on the island or visiting for the day, definitely make time to stop here. Friendly service, great food, and that laid-back island energy. We will be back before the trip is over!
