We ended our Kentucky Derby 2026 night on a high note after a GREAT time at Cape Cabaret in Cape Coral, FL!! After the races, we decided to go to Escondido, which is the speakeasy in Taco Works, in Cape Coral. We were two couples having a great time hanging at the bar. We ordered four drinks (old fashions- not cheap, BTW) and after about 30 minutes we PAID our bill!!! Due to the fact that the drinks weren't completely finished, we stayed a little bit longer. After a bit, one of the bartenders gave us the bill AGAIN !! Thankfully, the receipt of payment was sent to my phone and when I showed it to the bartender, she said "oh" and another bartender stepped up behind her to say that he didn't know either; HE was the one who gave us the electronic receipt for payment only minutes before, how could he forget? The bar wasn't busy, not even 10 people with two bartenders sitting at the bar (and we were four of the 10); so they cannot claim that they were overrun with customers! Neither offered an apology nor any acknowledgment of their error/oversight! Hence, our "RED FLAG" was alerted because in ANY establishment, isn't it the job of a BARTENDER/SERVER to KNOW if a bill has been paid, and if they honestly didn't, shouldn't they acknowledge with an apology rather than simply "oh". We were sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM!! We will NOT go back because it seems they have a "game" going on where they try to take advantage of people, or they're entirely incompetent at their job. Absolutely filthy! You can't walk without sticking to the floors. GROSS! The tables are filthy! Not sure the last time anything here was cleaned. We had one drink and left. This would be a fantastic place if it was clean. The drink was perfect I will say. At least my glass was clean. Please clean this place because it's a hidden gem. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but after our experience on Valentine's Day, I felt like I needed to share some honest feedback. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a cocktail hoping for a nice night out, but unfortunately the service was really disappointing. There were three bartenders working, and while one seemed to be trying, the other two -- a blonde woman and a man with brown hair and tattoos -- were noticeably inattentive and came across as rude. It took a very long time to get our drinks. The man kept disappearing to the back for stretches at a time, and both of them appeared to be over-intoxicated while working. Their behavior, speech, and overall demeanor made it obvious they were not in a condition to be bartending, which made the experience uncomfortable and unprofessional. The blonde bartender in particular was unpleasant in her interactions, adding to the frustration. We love going out for drinks and supporting local spots, but the lack of professionalism made it hard to enjoy our night -- especially on Valentine's Day. We left feeling frustrated and let down. We may consider giving it another chance down the road, but only after there's a clear improvement in service and professionalism. What a cool concept! Speakeasy behind the Taco Works freezer door. The Taco Works owner was a hoot helping us get in when we arrived! Pro tip: arrive right when they open to get a spot, it fills up very fast. It would be tricky to bring a large group here - better for duos or small groups. The place is decorated impeccably: dark moody reds and blacks and greens, velvet, mirrors, the whole shebang. I love the lofted white piano and the massive bar bottle wall! The layout is small but cool: there's a handful of sofa spots around the perimeter, bar seating, a large communal couches area in the back, and a lofted communal couch area up top. Be prepared to share the space with others! The cocktail menu is fun, with some unique creations. It was fun watching the bartenders shake and mix from our seats! Some drinks we liked more than others - the spicy marg was way too spicy for us, but the Henry Ford was crazy good. Service felt a bit harried here - it took us a while to get our order in, and receive it. A fun place to go for a drink right when they open or later in the night! read more

Expertly crafted cocktails. Bartender was personable and attentive. The place has a some patina that is earned and not a decoration so a bit of construction adhesive and some windex would do wonders for the mirrors behind the bar. All in all a solid find in a boring town. Enjoy. read more

Sweet speakeasy vibe in the back of a taco shop! They have limited space and it fills up so definitely recommend showing up early or be ready to wait. The ambiance is great inside with tons of mirrors and great red lighting plus a lofted piano when they have live music. Would love to have seen the piano in action but I guess that's for next time! Cocktails were good and the one thing I would say is it would be great to have some small bites or snacks, like an elevated version of some of the food from the taco shop it's attached to! read more

Very cool speakeasy behind the freezer door of the pizza shop!! Came around 7pm on Saturday night and was seated right away but they said after 9/10 they get pretty busy. It is small so suggest coming in groups of 4 or less. I loved the ambience, they had decorated it well with cool mirrors, wallpaper, and a backlit bar. The drink menu is small which I hope they rotate, but that's probably how they keep service moving. There are a few waitresses, service was a bit slow but for a cocktail bar, I think you need patience. My main issue was that I had ordered a spicy cocktail and they didn't bring water right away. Then I had to ask 3 times for it as our waitress passed us up twice after I'd asked! That said, the cocktails were tasty. It looked like they were setting up a DJ for later so I bet that would've been fun. This is a nice spot before for a few drinks as a stop in the night - I'd say worth checking out! read more

The place is a perfect little speak easy when going out in the town with your for Friends or loved ones. The only down side is that there is limited room to sit. The DJ was amazing! But, makes you feel like you're not in fort myers, but in a big city! read more

The second floor is a free for all if not reserved, everyone who came up there to drink and hang out were very kind and welcoming. I recently visited Escondido and unfortunately had a terrible experience. The bar staff were extremely aggressive and rude, which made the environment very uncomfortable. Apparently its the customers fault when the bartender doesnt request payment at the very begining and will dump other people drinks on your tab.Furthermore, the manager, Matt, exhibited highly inappropriate behavior that was unprofessional and unacceptable. I do not recommend this establishment and urge others to consider alternative options. Check your cameras! read more
