We came here last week for our date night. We were definitely hoping to try something new, and I'm…read morenot normally a slider person but I was proven wrong. I really liked everything I got and people were actually watching the Tigers game so the atmosphere was really fun. It's smaller of a place than I thought but it wasn't super packed. They have happy hour deals which are super solid. I would definitely come back here.

I'm a caterer who was waiting for an event to be over so I could go back and collect my equipment and my daughter suggested we have dinner here while we wait. It looks like a place my dad would've enjoyed, so we did. What a great decision that was. The service and the people were so nice and helpful. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The cheese curds are off the chart. Hands-down best I've ever had. Doesn't sound possible, right? They're just cheese curds. But nope. Seriously best I've ever had and the truffle fries w/aioli were so good. I had the Get him to the Greek slider and there was so much flavor. We also ordered a fish & chips slider (it was a special that day) and the portobello. Everything had amazing flavor. Do not pass this place up if you're out that way. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, so are the people and the food is unforgettable in the BEST way.

I was debating if I should write this review about Grand Tavern but, after noticing less and less…read moreformer regulars not coming back to this place, I decided I should write this since I am now a part of that group. I made a positive review about Grand Tavern a few years ago but, sadly, I had to delete it because that review no longer represented my views of this place due to its steady decline of how it is run. My review is about my experiences and my experiences ONLY. I'd like to start out my review on the rare positives about this place. Rachel is by far the best bartender there. I may give this place 1 star but that is no where near a reflection on her. If they can clone 7 Rachel's then I would give this place a higher score. If you see Bibi tending bar during lunch, you will be OK too. I can't speak to the servers on the floor but I did not see any problems with them from a service perspective. Regarding food, you can get much better burgers and tacos elsewhere. The "bar food" (wings, pretzels, etc) are fine. The pasta dishes are just OK. Not sure if they changed the recipe but its not the same as when I first ordered them. Haven't had horrible drinks there. Here is why this place gets a 1 star review. Grand Tavern is what you call a "Town Drunk Bar." Not a Local Watering Hole.........it's A Town Drunk Bar. I could care less if people are drinking having a good time cheering for the Lions. I welcome that with open arms and would even join them. It becomes a Town Drunk Bar when patrons are consistently being served alcohol past the point of inebriation. I'll only pinpoint two instances since I don't want to write a 50 page review. These situations should give you an idea of what kind of place this is: What started to really turn me off about this place was when one patron got so drunk he made a scene because the manager "lowered the music." He then caused a scene by calling the entire staff the b word because of this. To her credit, I thought Emily (the manager) handled it as any responsible manager should have. Kudos to Emily for the way she handled a cancerous customer. Instead of ownership agreeing with the majority of the establishment, ownership threw her under the bus by blaming her to appease the drunk and his behavior. I thought the way they treated her, for doing her job by trying to erase the "town drunk" reputation this place has, was horrible. I may not have agreed with how they treated her but I didn't view it necessarily as a "customer experience" issue at the time since the drunk claimed he would never come back and I thought Emily's effective management fixed the issue. Unfortunately, that was short lived. The straw that busted the camels hump was on a Tuesday night and the same drunk was talking politics (which is a big no-no at any bar). I've known this guy to do this when he's drunk at the Tavern for years, and I always kept my mouth shut, but I had enough since that is just not how you act at a bar. An argument ensued. I don't go to the bar to listen to political commentary.....that's just bar etiquette. The bartender (Brenda) witnessed it and I was dumbfounded when she served him 5 more drinks after he already was clearly inebriated. When I told her that she probably should cut him off, she dismissed my logical recommendation like its no big deal to constantly overserve patrons past the point of inebriation. She didn't respond saying "you know I want to, and I should, because this isn't the first time but I don't want him to get mad and I don't want the owner to reprimand me" or something like that. I could have had some sympathy for her if she did. Instead she completely thought it was acceptable to negligently overserve someone who, on more than one occasion, caused a scene and continued to become more inebriated. I even emailed the owners letting them know because, if I owned a bar, I would want to know. No response. I see recent reviews on Yelp of people saying they aren't coming back to Grand Tavern because they don't feel comfortable. I don't blame them. If ownership is OK with the Town Drunk Bar reputation then you are going to see more reviews like that. In short, the drinks are fine and food is OK. The food and drinks are definitely not worth dealing with the drama of a Town Drunk Bar. If you still want to go to this place, I would recommend sitting in the restaurant portion. If you want to risk it and go to the bar after 5 PM, make sure you find out Rachel's schedule. She will at least mitigate the risk of drama at the bar but there is only so much she can do. Most importantly, watch out, I have seen Farmington Hills Police park across the street from this place on more than one occasion. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.....

I was already fearful of this place seeing that they only have a 2 star here on Yelp. Gulp…read more My department settled on a team outing this week here, team building of sorts. We came to eat some apps, "football bowling, do some axe throwing too. We had reservations for our department from 2-4pm. It kind of looks like an office building. Then again I guess it doesn't matter what the exterior looks like. I ordered the blackened honey glazed salmon on the Michigan salad with no blue cheese and balsamic dressing instead. The Michigan salad is made with iceberg lettuce, blech. The first salad came with blue cheese atop it, gave it to another colleague. The salad was sub-bar, would be better with mixed greens, the dressing is definitely not balsamic, it tastes super sweet and syrupy, like the raspberry vinaigrette. The blackened salmon is good at least. We ordered cheese bread, nachos and hummus for some shareables. The nachos and hummus weren't too bad. One of my colleagues got the BBQ chicken wrap and liked it well, came with the sweet potato fries. Our waitress, never got her name, was great to our department team. The blackened salmon is really good. They should put that on the menu. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing is a little too sweet, too sweet. The service here was definitely a four, but the food was a three for me.

It was full of customers and had a bridal event and memorial at the same time as having almost full capacity inside. Wait staff was new and being trained and attentive. I ordered the ahi tuna salad and my friend the vegetable burger. Good portions- HUGE for salad. Reasonable beer menu- not extensive but maybe just right. Quick even though obviously busy. Large parking lot and really a maze of rooms available inside. Staff not mask wearing. More for your situational awareness than anything. Not a lot of veg options- didn't see any vegan- and could be wrong about that. A lot of cheese and meat, some fish. Good that we had was good. It's a bit out of the way for me and will keep it in mind.
