Stopped in with my hubby tonight for the first time While I wasn't feeling my greatest self this place honestly put me in a way better mood It's like revisiting my youth all over again.. Well I've got nothing but the absolute BEST things to say about the Glengary!! Fair warning, I'm super biased because this is where I met the love of my life and he used to work there! Food is always great, it's a small kitchen with a surprisingly wide menu that everyone I know raves about. No kidding, fries might be the best out of any bar I've been to. Perfectly crispy. And for reference, im a great fry judge because I'm vegan so that's often my choice Bartenders and service is always 100p on point. It's completely a hometown bar type feel, you'll always get a family welcome here. Music is always playing and patrons are super welcoming too I regularly come here but last night we went for the Lions vs. Rams playoff game so it was a party of course!!! Thought I would stop by for something quick. Seems like the management is getting a little lazy. They aren't getting their draft beer up to date and bar tender was a little overwhelmed tonight. The cook seemed to be doing his part but overall they are going in the wrong direction. Will stop by again in the next week or so to see if there's any improvement. Very disappointed read more

I've been driving by this place for well over 5 years. The appearance from the outside is a little suspect but it's a traditional old fashioned dive bar. I've always heard good things about the burger and finally stopped in now that things have started to re open. I got the bacon cheddar burger and I have to say it was great. I decided to upgrade the fries to loaded which came with cheese bacon and jalapeño. We also ordered the broccoli bacon cheese bites and my gosh they were amazing!! So I have driven by this place for many years. A number of similar places in the area are no longer around. Its an older local place, with it's set of regulars, that has a nice feel that make you want to come back. Sue, our server and barman, really made this place appealing, making us feel welcome and being interested in who we are. There is country music in the background and couple of televisions showing various sports programs. Its a full service bar, with a small menu, dominated by sliders and cheeseburgers, and a couple of other options. We had a slider and a basket of onion rings. Food was fine - great for a quick bite. The burgers are amazing! I always get medium well everywhere I eat. Cooked to perfection. The buns were grilled. The beef wasn't the nasty bullshit you get at some top notch places around. Every time I come here I get a burger and fries. So I can't comment on the other food. However the people I came with got the sliders. And they said they'd order them again. First time visitor, and I was impressed! This place is very small, but the service is better here than most upscale restaurants. Our server constantly checked on us, and was very friendly. She quickly took our order, and the food was served quickly, and HOT! We ordered 3 different sliders, fish & chips, edamame small plate, and a cheese steak sandwich. All were very tasty. Awesome burgers, try the sliders. It's a small little (up north like) place right off Glengary road. It's been around since I have been in this town (35 years or so), and it's always been a corner staple. Closed and reopened quite a few times, but always came back. The new(ish) current owners have stepped it up a notch (more than a couple notches actually). A complete high end bar menu, with all the traditional items you would expect and some you wouldn't expect. Burgers and sliders are the best around. They also upgraded the TV 's - great place for a game. Give em a try for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed. read more

They were ranked as runner up for the best fish & chips in west Oakland County, so that's what I ordered. For $11 I got two less than impressive size cod fillets that were not very good in flavor. it came with really good fries, but the cole slaw was so bad that I had to throw it away. I also got a pizza for my son; he said that it was outstanding. I was also surprised with how crowded it was inside when I went to pick up the food, I guess covid restrictions are over. read more

Be careful not to drive too fast past it. Of course I had to try the burger. This isn't quite the best dive bar burger but it's pretty good. I had the American. A half pound of prime grade beef with cheese and the fixings. Prepared medium well (more on the medium side). Hot, juicy, and perfect. I will go back for this burger again. The fries were just average but hot hot as served. The staff was pretty nice and chatty, but not too much. we mentioned that this was our first time there and she offered a couple recommendations. The patrons were pretty nice as as well. The Glengary had a nice down home feeling. If they knew who I was I got the feeling they would have yelled "Burger Boy". Check out the menu on their site. It's not too extensive but there are plenty of options. Good domestic beer options both draft and bottled. The bathrooms, could use some upgrading but not bad for a dive bar. I went with my two sibs and they have been back a couple more times. They are suggesting the fish fry Friday next time. I see another visit coming soon. read more

We were in the area for an all day event. We stopped here for lunch and a beer. It looks like it would be a dive with a lot of locals. We were greeted and treated like we were regulars. Great friendly service! My husband had French onion soup, I tasted it and it was delicious, he is very picky with regard to his French onion soup. Five stars for the burger alone. IMHO, the best tasting burger in the greater Detroit area. Granted, I have not tried every burger joint in Detroit, but of the many I've tried, this is the one. Fresh ground, high grade beef, grilled buns. I get mine rare to medium rare. Suzie is an attentive, friendly bartender and will keep your thirst at bay. It doesn't stand out as you drive by, as just a white building along an aging neighborhood, but inside has character and a good handful of TVs, including a large projector screen on the far wall from the entrance. A full bar with decent but not spectacular food, the menu ranges from standard bar fare to sandwiches that are restaurant quality with a homey feel. The offerings on tap aren't many, but they almost always are local, Michigan craft beers that help create a great sense of community among the regulars. read more

I love this place so much. Unfortunately, the last three times we've gone, we've gotten the same server. She is very sweet but the service she provides is terrible. She can't multitask. Our first visit with her our order was wrong, food was missing and our drinks weren't right. Our second, she left us at our table on the patio forever before taking our food order and another 20 before bringing my husbands card back after we ate. Tonight, she brought our drinks right away but then wandered around the restaurant aimlessly for 25 minutes before coming back. I watched her ignore a huge party that came in after us for 25 to 30 minutes and the bar tender had to come take care of them. She was on her phone and completely checked out from what was going on in the dining area. The food here is absolutely amazing- the cook is fantastic and brings the food out to you personally. I hate to say, if this particular server is on staff as the only waitress for our next visit- we will sit at the bar if available. Otherwise, we will more than likely leave. Again, this is an amazing place to go. Very cozy, friendly with home made meals and an otherwise attentive staff. I had to drop to a four star for recent service but don't misunderstand- we LOVE the Glengary Inn! read more

I went there for the first and last time on St. Patrick's Day. We all expect a bar to be busy on St. Patrick's Day. But, the service was awful. The waitresses and bartenders along with the manager were extremely rude! If you can't hack it on a busy day and have good customer service skills, then you shouldn't work in a position that requires it. It is sad because the cook did a great job with the food, when we got it, that is..... Our table ordered our food and when the food came, everyone at our table got their food except me and another friend. The waitress said it will be a few more minutes. A half hour later, the table behind us that came in 15 minutes or so after us had already gotten their food. Another fifteen minutes later I asked the bartender where our food was because everyone else had been done eating for a while. She said in a rude tone, "the fryer went down, that's why!" I said, well imagine that, our waitress didn't tell us that and someone else at our table had fried food and got theirs as well as the table behind us that came in after us. She just walked away. It took an hour before we got our food. After that, we sat there for 1.5 hours and not once did the waitress ask us if we needed anything else. When I told the waitress I was leaving, she said, "oh, do you want your bill?" Then, the bill was incorrect. I had one beer and they put two on. The waitress took it off the bill but the bartender still charged me for two. I brought it to the waitress's attention and she rudely said, "I will get my manager!" When the manager came out the waitress came over and then said, "wait a minute!" She then asked the bartender what price she rang up on the bill. The bartender said, the original price. Not the one corrected at the bottom. The manager then proceeded to get my refund. It is poor customer service that will ruin a business. The owner should be checking on their staff more frequently and talking to their customers. The food was good, but I will never step foot in the place again after the treatment we received! read more
