Every place has a place for pizza. And Boca Grande is no exception. So, heading over for dinner it was worth the stop. Got there at 530pm. By 630pm it was packed with a line out the door. It is a local place with a good team. We ordered the pizzas and some salads.Also some pasta of course. It was all good. The sauce is ideal. The portion is perfect. The pizza was a good size with 8 slices. In the end, it all comes down to how you like the pizza. It is a very thin crust, More like a matzah bread crust. Very thin and covered with cheese. Being from NYC we like a thicker crust, and if you were from Chicago this is way too thin. So it is up to what you really think on this. To be honest, a left over slice the next day was not bad. You could cut it up and use as cheese and crackers with a glass of wine. That will work. In the end, it is not a bad place to be for the slice and a coke. Three of us had dinner here on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. College football was on multiple tv's which made us happy. We had friendly interactions right away. We had salad. Pizza and eggplant Parmesan. All was delicious! The house salad was pretty simple. One tomato wedge, 2 slices of cucumber and a little red onion. The eggplant Parmesan was so good with a side of thin spaghetti and sauce. I had a few bites of the Boca Grande pizza. It was phenomenal! This restaurant has a local feel with friendly service. Service was very friendly. Our waitress was great. The food was okay. We started with mozzarella sticks and the batter was just weird. Definitely not a traditional breading. Something like tempura. Very oily. Wasn't great. For dinner My husband and I both ordered 2 different seafood pasta dishes and they were bland. We should've taken note that everyone around us was just eating pizza. MUST VISIT when in the area. I judged this place by the outside but quickly learned not to make such a hasty judgemental. Customer service was a little rocky at first, but came through with flying colors in the end. We came here 2/3 days. Chicken Picatta was delightful, the calzones tasted super fresh with just an unbelievable texture to the outside. The jalapeño poppers were home made and very very good. This is such a delightful restaurant we stumbled upon after photos at the nearby lighthouse. It's small but mighty and had enough space and patience for our large family. The bread and pesto appetizer is 100% delicious, even my picky eaters ate this and I wanted more but we were having pizza! And you really can't go wrong w/ their pizza - crisp, nice topping distribution, hot! But the absolute Star over every meal is the darn bread and dipping oil... pure magic! One night we got curious about dessert and our super sweet waitress said we shouldn't get our hope up cause their choices are limited to "small cakes." They take alot of reservations so busy times of year you may want make one if you have a large party or want to sit outside. The side salads were a Good size and the pizza was tastey.
