Although the food here is good, the service is pretty awful. I can say this based on multiple visits. Servers are rude and inattentive and always trying to rush you out of the restaurant. You have to ask for things (eg chilli sauce) multiple times before receiving it. They treat you like they're doing you a favor by letting you dine there. The inside is extremely packed, and if you ask for a table outside they usually tell you it's reserved even if it's sitting empty for several minutes. Customer service is poor. They should take a tip from the location in Potomac, which has equally good food and significantly better service. read more

My order: drunken noodle, no tomatoes, extra crispy tofu. Depending on the day, it's either absolutely delicious or barely good. I love the tofu here and that's what keeps bringing me back. The drunken noodle is the only thing I order when I go to sisters Thai (at least 4x a month). There is one nice waitress that isn't biased, but the rest of the staff makes me feel uncomfortable and today was no exception but absolutely intolerable. The blonde waitress raised her voice and made a scene when my order came out wrong. I'm allergic to tomatoes, and I reminded them of that once I noticed the tomatoes on my plate and all I got was attitude. I'm honestly shocked by everything that transpired and will never return to this place. I was a regular, the food is good most of the time but good food doesn't sustain clients. Service is equally important. Everyone should be treated with respect. I've been disappointed at all fronts and ready to replace what I once considered 'my favorite Thai restaurant.' To the Sisters Thai team: Please do better and don't make people feel like there's favoritism amongst different class or race of people. ******UPDATE******* I took my food to go, since the waitress made me so uncomfortable to the point of losing my appetite. I was looking forward to warming it up and enjoying it today (less than 24hours later) - but I was not looking forward to the BUG mixed in with the peppers. I repeat A BUG IN THE FOOD. I came here for the first time with a friend after wanting to come here for a while. We came for dinner on a Sunday. (I recommend making a reservation!) The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown fairfax. The atmosphere is a bit cramped and it was hot during our visit. Our table was near the thermostat and I saw that it was 87 degrees Fahrenheit inside. It wasn't a very pleasant atmosphere to eat in. However, the decor of the place was very simple and had a hint of elegance. There was a 15 minute wait when we came--no line...but the place was packed. We went to the cafe across the street to wait. We ordered the pad thai, pad see ew, and spring rolls (4 rolls for $6). The spring rolls were crunchy and yummy--and my chicken pad thai ($11.50) was delicious and plentiful. I was very impressed by the amount given...but the pad thai had a bit stronger fishy taste that I am used to. Before tip...I spent $16.50 (I split the spring rolls with a friend). It took a while for the waiters/waitress to give us water, take our order, and not to mention deliver our food, give us the check, and return the check. We had to actually get up from the seat and go up because they were not taking the check...even when we waved it up (tbh, it was quite busy). We were checked on once during our entire meal--where they refilled our waters. I was a bit dissapointed at the service; however, the food was great! The heat of the restaurant was also a bit ridiculous...but with the heat from outside + the amount of people packed into a small space + the cramped tables...it's inevitable. We've been here before, but had the lunch special the other day. Really enjoyed the Panang and Green Curries, but note that they come at a slightly higher price ($12) than the other lunch menu items. On April 12, 12:30pm, I came to Sisters Thai with my colleague. It was my first time to try this one, the place seemed very cozy and clean. I liked their ambiance right away! I ordered spring rolls and pod Thai. Taste was not bad. After eating, I found there is a separated section for bakery. We were going to have dessert and coffee, so we asked the server if we can move to that area. (It is right next to restaurant area.) Please read this part! The manager, he was kind of hesitated to say yes. Any way, we moved to bakery area. He followed us and said that we can not seat at the bakery area because it is for a group of people who comes more than 4 people. All table were empty in bakery area. I asked manager politely that I will drink a coffee with dessert very quickly and we will leave if there is anyone come in that section. Sisters Thai still remains my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. They are also called the living room cafe because you truly feel like you're dining in your own or a friend's living room. The bookcase along the wall is filled with antiques, figurines, magazines, and just knick knacks that we all have in our homes. There is one wall with portraits. And the entire dining space is a combination of shabby chic, antique, stylish, fun, and everything in between. I've had a variety of appetizers and entrees here. I think their desserts nearly make an impressive like their savory dishes. But do try their freezes! It's like a float; my favorite being the strawberry freeze. It tastes just like a strawberry float. I am a huge fan of their Thai street menu and a couple of my favorites from that menu is the boat noodles and suki yaki talay! Noodles just run in my blood. Some other favorites include the drunken noodles, phuket island, crispy duck curry, and any curry dish really! Their curries are very creamy and flavorful. Their wide noodle dishes are sautéed with the right amount of sauce and bite. I have not experienced poor service with my dining visits. I do recommend calling ahead and making reservations as it can get busy on Friday nights and the weekends. read more

Talk about another great find from Yelp!. My dining partner was hungry for Thai food, found this place and it's lovely reviews, and off we went in search of said quaint cafe. As everyone else pretty well covers the ambiance I'm going to leave it be, but it is totally cute, and very well done - so much so that even people like me who aren't exactly into scrapbooking can appreciate the time and effort that was put into the design of this restaurant. We ordered the pad thai, drunken noodles, mango freeze and green tea freeze. The pad thai was good, drunken noodles and mango freeze excellent, and the green tea freeze is DA BOMB. My dining partner has gone back to this restaurant two more times since we initially visited two weeks ago to eat the drunken noodles and imbibe in a green tea freeze and hasn't ventured off to try anything else yet because that's her version of Thai heaven. I was going to rate this place a 4 but in reading what I just shared I guess I better make it a 5 as I'm Yelping for the both of us, and I'd have to say that this is definitely her favorite Thai place hands down. The people who work there are extremely friendly and the service is fast. Cons: Food delivery time was a bit off. My soup arrived 10 minutes after my dining party's. Then, my entrée arrived 5 minutes after that. Fortunately, it was so delicious, I'm not too upset. We walked into the establishment after seeing someone come out with a number of Bobba type drinks. We come in and ask the lady behind the counter if she had bobba drinks. She gave us a strange look and shook her head. After looking over the menu we realized it was only Thai food but they had a slushy list. Asked a couple of questions to the lady but got a stone cold look from her in response. At that point I wasn't sure if she was giving us those looks because she didn't want us in there or if she didn't like us asking for Vietnamese drinks from a Thai restaurant (in FL, even Thai restaurants carry bobba). We ordered 2 mango slushies and a frozen green tea drink. After making the payment I ask if we can sit at a table. She hesitantly said yes after thinking about it for a couple of seconds. She kept giving us the weirded out look. Not sure if that was just how she was. Once the drinks were ready we took them from the counter to the table. We decided to just sit there and drink them there. As soon as we sit down she starts telling us from behind the counter that we can't sit there since we ordered takeout. The restaurant was empty save one table on memorial day, yet she didn't want us to sit there. I told her, if you want us to get out we'll get out of here. We start walking out when she starts saying something like she had a change of heart. It was too late at that point since she already kicked us out. I probably wouldn't have even written this review despite the bad attitude, had she not kicked us out of the empty restaurant after only ordering drinks. read more

It was also very wobbly and would fall over if you rested your elbows on the table. They were very busy! My wife and started with two bowls of shrimp Tom Yum. The broth was great and did not come from a packet! The mushrooms , were very fresh and the tomatoes were perfect! For the second course we tried the Sisters Beef. This dish wasn't bad , but no better than a beef and rice dish you would find offered in the food court of you local shopping mall. no real complexity of flavors. Basically thin cuts of beef in a sweet marinade with chopped ginger, shredded carrot, and a side of rice for $15 For the main course we had the whole fried flounder. Even-though you can purchase fresh flounder or fluke at the H mart 3 minutes away, I'm sure this was frozen. The fish was way over cooked and the sauce was very bland. Think basil flavored gravy. The service was ok . The waitress was polite and waters were promptly refilled. Typical to most asian resaturates in the area , no specials were offered ,suggestions made, or introductions given. Standard take the order ,fill the water ,drop the check ,get the tip scenario. We will certainly give it another shot , but stick to more americanized dishes next time. I was pretty disappointed because this place has such good ratings. We came at 12:30 for lunch and it wasn't super busy. I liked the "homey" feeling decor and their special for lunch (which I highly recommend -- $7.95 for appetizer/starter AND an entrée) and they refilled the water quite rapidly (at least in the beginning) but that's where I stop liking it. The service was really slow-- from getting our food, refilling our water, how we were sat and especially getting our check. I really think they had an off day because there were enough staff to help and wasn't packed. We were sat right next to another couple in those benches on one side, chairs on the other. Although I didn't like being on top of the other guests, can hear their conversations, it was at least the corner so we had some wiggle room. The food was okay-- definitely not the best Thai I've had but eatable for lunch time and for the price it felt like a STEAL! My friend and I had a good time catching up but we got thirsty a lot while trying to get them to refill our water. Then when we were done, we asked for the check and she definitely forgot. We went to this location today for lunch. I really liked the ambeience, small cozy and beautiful. In general I like Thai food alot and most of the times we go to King's street for Thai food but this is really a hidden gem in Fairfax area. We ordered drunken noodles and roti with green (vegetarian) curry along with Thai ice tea. I felt curry was too salty and mentioned this to server and he immediately got me another one but the taste was same. May be that's how the real taste is but I won't order this dish again. This place is somewhat small, but it's so cute and cozy! It's super aesthetic with the decor, which has bookshelves and is actually filled with books! I'd recommend coming for lunch because we got to take advantage of the $10 lunch deal, which comes with an appetizer and an entree. For appetizers, we got the chicken tom yum and the tofu tod. The tom yum had the perfect amount of hot and sour flavoring and the tofu tod was super crispy, which is a must for fried tofu. The sweet and sour dipping sauce that the tofu tod came with was what made the appetizer so delicious. Then came the entrees. We got the tofu pad thai and I believe the other dish was called the chicken ginger perfect (?). I like my food with a little bit of a kick so I asked for the spice tray and this was so good with the tofu pad thai. The pad thai wasn't overly drenched with peanut sauce or anything like that and still had that stir fried flavoring. The tofu still had its appropriate texture and was still spongey and not broken apart. One thing I would like with my pad thai is a lime and they didn't have that, but overall the flavoring of the food was spot on and the portions were huge for lunch; we got sooo full! What a cute and delicious little place! I had some of the best tofu pad thai here at Sisters when I came for dinner last week. The interior is adorable -- it's a living room cafe, so the walls are bookshelves containing real books and trinkets, and the tables are comfortable and cozy for dining. You can order to-go at the dessert counter (and see all the tasty desserts on display) or sit down for a casual and inexpensive meal. For only $12 each, you can get huge portions of traditional Thai dishes, ranging from noodles to fried rices to curries, with a choice of protein and a side of rice. They also serve blended drinks and coffees as well. The service was prompt for a nighttime dinner, and it wasn't overly crowded. The food was absolutely delicious and would be a great pick for any Asian food lover. read more

The moment we were seated we were being stared at by two of the servers in the most uncomfortable way. 20 minutes after our food came out our server asked us if we wanted a box while we were eating and we said no we were still eating. Then another server who wasn't our server came to us 5 minutes later and asked us if we wanted a box and we said no and she then took all of our sauces off the table and started cleaning the table while we were still sitting . I don't understand why we were being rushed when half the restaurant was empty during lunch time. We were the only people of color at the restaurant and we didn't see them treat any of the other tables the way we were treated. read more

This place is my favorite Thai restaurant. Many dishes can be made vegan or vegetarian by substituting tofu or extra veggies for meat. The mango with sticky rice is delicious. The restaurant decor looks like someone's living room, with books and nicknacks, which makes it feel cozy. The only thing I would change is for the dining area to be bigger so customers should be spread out more during covid. But I love this place. We use it for eat-in as well as takeout. [Food | Drinks] - Everything was good and we tried some food, grabbed a few summer-time freezes, and topped it with their adorable desserts. FOOD // [+] Appetizer - Angel Wings: fried wings stuffed with vermicelli noodles and mushrooms (i believe) and comes with some kind of sweet and sour sauce. Definitely an interesting take on wings, but it's one of the most popular appetizers here. [+] Crispy Kapow duck: comes with vegetables and white rice and is found on the Chef's Recommendations section of the menu. Super delicious. [+] Crispy Fish Filet: Pretty much the same dish as the Crispy Kapow duck, but with fish. Personally, I liked the fish filet better than the duck and so did my date.
