Just want to give a shoutout to Sistory's lunch plate which is fabulous! The lunch special includes appetizer, entree, salad, scoop of rice and Thai tea/coffee. The food is fresh and tasty as always!

Stumbled upon this through Yelp, and really enjoy the food here. Very authentic with the real Thai spicy, medium spicy will make you cry. The roti in particular was so good and I normally don't even like curry the dip was just perfect and the roti was fluffy and crunchy at the same time. Attentive service. We will be back to try other dishes.

You could easily miss this place...but make a specific trip to stop in and enjoy. Inside was subtle decor just enough to say " oh that's nice" but not overwhelming. We were 3 to come in to make 5 all together. We sat in the quiet of the restaurant for a minute until this 10 person group made thier way in... making the place seem more warm and inviting. Down to the eats...I had to order fried shrimp rolls for an appetizer and yellow curry with fried chicken over basil thai fred rice. Our group also had Pad see eew and washed down with Thai lemonade...which was scrump!!!! Will do again if im around town. Ciao for now...

Been wanting to try this Thai place! Quiet and peaceful on a rainy Saturday morning but the worker was super kind and thoughtful. He pulled over a table for us because we were splitting two dishes and he thought we could use more space. Food was really good for a good price too. Pad Thai for $16? In such a large quantity?? Amazing. I even have leftovers. I never had Kao soi before but I would get it again. Has a nice kick to it too. The Thai tea is on the sweeter side but I made sure to ask for it in a to go cup from the start because I like to take my time with my drinks. Will prob add more ice ;)

I've had this restaurant bookmarked for quite sometime, so we decided to stop by for dinner on our way home. We didn't make a reservation but there were seats available around 6pm on a Sunday. There was already one large party and two other tables occupied when we arrived. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but they did have two tables available outside. We ordered the following: - Wings (3/5) - crispy on the outside but lacked flavor on the inside. The Thai chili sauce on the side would have tasted better if it was drizzled on top of the wings. - Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew (2/5) - this was their most popular item and it was very disappointing. The pork rib and shrimp paste stew did not taste good at all and made the entire soup sour. I couldn't eat it and my husband ended up eating it for me. The noodles were the best part. - Thai Fried Rice with Pork (3/5) - the pork tasted more like chicken and the rice was more moist so it wasn't a fried rice consistency. - Garlic Noodle (2/5) - could have used more garlic and the egg noodles did not pair well with the dish - Roti Gai Tod (3/5) - presentation was great and so was the chicken. The cucumber salad could have been more pickled. The curry was just ok since it didn't have a strong curry flavor. Overall, extremely disappointed with this restaurant even though it had such high reviews on Yelp...The amount paid did not meet the quality of the food. I don't think I'll come back again since I really enjoy Thai food and have somewhat of a high expectation when it comes to certain dishes.

Cute little restaurant. Excellent service. Thai tea was delicious and sweet. Ordered Kao Soi with fried chicken -- portion was large and every component was cooked perfectly. The curry broth was incredibly flavorful with a nice medium spice level. Also got the Roti with fried chicken and rice and dipping sauces. On both dishes the chicken was moist and super crispy. Highly recommend this place.

I was craving Thai food, so I ordered takeout from here. The interior looked stylish, and the food was delicious! Since it was takeout, I couldn't really evaluate the service.

Bold flavors and generous portions! My favorite appetizer is their curry puff - the pastry is so buttery and flaky and the yellow curry sauce was the best complement. If you like crispy, try their crab rangoons. The Oh! Beef Curry was my favorite entree. The slow cooked beef was perfectly tender. I tried their thai tea lemonade for this first time and it was so refreshing! I actually prefer it over the thai tea. Overall, absolutely delicious and filling meal.

Great food & service! We came on a Friday night & it was pretty busy. Food was delicious & so were the cocktails. We got Tom Kha, Pad Thai, Spicy Eggplant, Lychee cocktail, & Thai tea cocktail.

Sistory Thai in Albany has a cozy interior and offers a menu of Chef Special dishes featuring regional Thai dishes hard to find in other restaurants! We started with the Papaya Salad (shredded papaya, carrots, green beans, tomatoes, chili, and crushed peanuts) and the Larb Kai (ground chicken, onions, cilantro, rice powder), both of which were intensely sour and spicy! From Northern Thailand, the Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew was a stew made of rice noodles in a dark pork rib and shrimp paste broth, served with pork ribs, pork blood cubes, ground pork, shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, and chopped long beans. The noodle soup had a nice balance between the dark, meaty broth and the fresh vegetables and brought me back to the streets of Thailand! Also from the North was Kao Soi, made of egg noodles and braised chicken thighs in an intensely spiced yellow curry broth, topped with pickled mustard greens and crispy egg noodles! My favorite dish (though not by far) was the Kao Mok Kai, which fused Northern and Southern Thai flavors on one plate. This came with a crispy breaded chicken thigh fillet served with roti (a crispy, layered flatbread), yellow curry sauce, cucumber salad, and turmeric-spiced jasmine rice, which was addictively delicious. This was an incredible meal, and everything we had here was beautifully-plated, flavorful, and on point!

Garlic noodles for comparison, normal sized portion.

Update just for the manager being kind and refunding my money. I still will not go back here but I appreciate the gesture so I added 1 more star to let people know. The food does not taste bad, the flavor is quite good but my experience with the portion size was disappointing and not at all my experience with Thai food, which almost always has generous portions for that price.

Amazing food! The best Pad Thai ever! The veggie spring rolls are really good. They serve beautiful plates of food, as well as delicious! The restaurant is very nice, warm ambiance and very friendly service. My first time there but a regular dining place for my in-laws. They highly recommend it too!

With a weekend full of heavy rain showers, it was the perfect time to dip into Sistory Thai Kitchen in Berkeley for a solo date! There's plenty of paid parking spots outside, but coming after hours it was nice to skip the additional fees for once! Upon entering, I loved the overall aesthetic and vibe of the interior ~ warm, inviting, bright and just lovely! With this spot being a smaller business, I did notice they take reservations if wanting to secure/snag your table ahead of time (and have outdoor seating on a nice day as well!) Service was super attentive, and my meal came out promptly! I'm a huge fan of Pad Se Ew (with chicken), and also ordered the Spring Rolls as an app to start. Both dishes were fresh and full of flavor, and I can't wait to come back with a group to try more items from their fun & innovative menu! They also offer lunch specials during the week and Brunch on the weekends. My husband and I took a trip to Thailand for our honeymoon and have been searching for a spot that makes Khao Soi (a Northern-Thai curry noodle soup) and this dish is on their menu..so looking forward to round two next time with my husband!

She informed us of what came with the Charcuterie Board and we chose Fontaine over Goat cheese (My wife does not like goat cheese). We ordered the codfish cakes. She provided us with some wine selections and even offered some to be tried (Free) to help with deciding. My wife chose a Rose and I chose a Malbec. When the Board came, we were amazed at the presentation. When are tasted it, we fell in love lml. Everything went together so well.. including the wine we decided to pair with it. We complimented every bite to once another. The codfish cake was seasoned, lightly battered and full of fish. It was served with olive oil and lime. So so so good!!!! We received great conversation from the owner. My wife at some point asked her she was the in fact the owner and she did yes. Banter sits alongside the main road, close to a market and record store. They have a nice selection of natural wines, including some local ones that I wasn't familiar with. Food / Wine: I did a flight ($24 for 3 half-pours). I went with a sparkling rose, a springy white, and finished with a gamay. All were delicious, especially the sparkling rose. I also ordered the anchovy plate. The bread, butter, and pepper spread were great. I imagine their larger charcuterie board would be perfect for a party of 2 or more. Service: There was one person working and four customers at the bar. I was greeted and everything came out quick enough. My only knock is that in a place called Banter you'd think the staff would have a bit of banter, at least an introduction in an effort to create some regulars. Ambiance: This was my favorite part of the experience. There's a nice collection of vinyl along with VHS tapes. The combination of the Psychedelic Furs on vinyl while Mannequin was playing on some very small old TVs was definitely a delightful throwback... and yes, I recognized Andrew McCarthy and named the movie in less than 3-minutes Clean restroom, great actually vintage decor, and a pinball machine that will get some attention from me next time!

We sat down and the server who is also the chef's wife, a fact she made sure we understood throughout the evening, asked what we wanted to order. We asked how many lamb chops came with the lamb chop plate. She explained that they were priced by weight and that, because it was dinner, they could only serve us a large plate. Fine. We ordered the large plate. She then began repeatedly reminding us that they are not a restaurant. Despite the giant "RESTAURANT" sign behind her. According to her, it is a wine bar. This distinction became particularly important because we had five people in our party, including a two kids. We tried to order an item off of the kids menu and were told they don't serve it at dinner because, again, this is a wine bar, not a restaurant. Okay. We ordered beef, lamb and chicken shawarma, a chicken kebab plate, and the large plate of lamb chops. Then things got weird. The chef, the husband, came out with a plate of 3 small lamb chops. I had read a previous review mentioning that someone felt they'd been shorted on the portion size by the wife, so I very specifically asked him whether the plate was the small or large portion. Without hesitation, he said small. I told him we had ordered the large. He looked confused and said, "I can get you whatever you want." At this point, the wife came storming outside and insisted that it was a large portion. She then proceeded to show me photographs of the raw lamb chops placed on a cutting board on her phone as visual evidence of the weight of the meat. All while I was eating. I suggested she speak with the chef about it, at which point she very aggressively said: "HE'S MY HUSBAND!" And I said, "Well, I never denied that fact." I was no longer sure if I was at dinner, witnessing a marital dispute, or participating in an episode of reality television. The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the experience. It was terrible, even for a wine bar that insists it is not a restaurant. The vibes were completely unhinged. And, as if the evening hadn't already provided enough entertainment, at one point a baby fell down at the bar. Five stars for the experience if you enjoy chaos and confusion. One star for the food and hospitality. I still have no idea whether we ate at a restaurant or a wine bar. One thing is for sure, I'm not going back!

Inside, you'll find a fun selection of unique wines and a super laid-back vibe. The staff were incredibly helpful and even let us sample what they had for the day before making our final choice. I also had to take a few photos because the whole spot is so Instagrammable. Highly recommend, and I'd definitely come back!

If you are looking for exquisitely curated wines from around the world, with special attention paid…read moreto affordability (huge selection of great wines under $30) then this is your place. I've been a patron of Vintage for years, and what's not to like? The location is gorgeous (a former pumping plant thats been transformed into a cozy, intimate space with a garden out front that changes with the seasons). And the shop is nestled right in the heart of Berkeley's Gourmet District with Peets, Saul's Deli, Cheeseboard Coop and Pizza, Andronico's, and Chez Panisse as next door neighbors. Inside you will find wines by color, grape, and region. It's not an enormous collection, but a lot of thought and experience has gone into presenting customers with something new and surprising. If I can't find myself making an easy decision, the staff have always been patient and helpful in finding the right bottle for my needs. Vintage also offers several different wine clubs for people who like a monthly or bimonthly grab bag of adult grape juice (including the occasional bubbles!). This is the wine store I wish I had as a neighborhood shop. For now, it's a well deserved destination (along with Kermit Lynch Wine Shop) that has yet to disappoint. Give it a try!

The ambiance will get you first, the attention to detail say's a lot about the love put into La Loulou. The service is fabulous, they will remember your last drink. I'm a quirky 'orderer' and they remembered the nuance of how I like my drink. Also, don't forget to checkout the bathroom. Merci!!!

I really wanted to like this place. I'd walked by several times and loved the interior design, and the videos on Instagram made it seem like such a great spot. I stopped in one evening by myself, ordered a glass of wine and the warm olives (which were delicious), and was looking forward to a relaxing night. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The restaurant was packed, and the atmosphere felt more concerned with maintaining an image than making guests feel welcome. I understand some restaurants embrace a more reserved European style of service, but this came across as cold and pretentious rather than intentional hospitality. As a solo diner especially, I didn't feel acknowledged or valued as a guest. It also didn't help that the dining room had a noticeable body odor smell that took away from the experience. On a positive note, the bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. I originally thought this would become my go-to place to grab a glass of wine while waiting for a table at the ramen spot next door, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Reading through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who had this impression. Oakland's charm has always been its people. You can open a French-inspired wine bar, but hospitality translates into every language. If you're going to bring a Parisian aesthetic to Oakland, don't mistake indifference for sophistication. Guests should leave feeling welcomed, not judged.
