Was looking for lunch and stumbled upon this place. They offer lunch specials, a great deal that includes an appetizer, entree, and a drink. Ordered the fried tofu, spicy basil, and Thai iced tea. The spicy basil was very flavorful and slightly on the sweeter end for me, not too spicy. The crispy tofu was hitting the spot with how crispy it was and the Thai iced tea was a great chaser. The Thai iced coffee could go for more coffee taste. It was mild tasting.The pad kee mao was spicy and the crispy shrimp rolls are great when it's crunchy and burns your tongue. Came in with my 3 brothers and assorted partners for a Sunday brunch of 7. At 11 am there was space for walking even with our giant group. Our party hadn't seen each other in a while so it was lovely that we weren't rushed out even after the check dropped and we paid. The brunch menu has breakfast classics and Thai brunch twists. I ordered the Sister Benedict which had a fried chicken thigh and yellow curry hollandaise. The flavors were really great but I was a little off put by the fact the egg was cold. I also had the lemongrass lemonade which was very refreshing. The bf had the tofu Pad Thai which was pretty good - I could have used some more spice and the sangria which he enjoyed. The Thai tea pancakes were also lovely and fluffy. The food came out promptly and we only had to wait a little while for my one person's salmon to make it to the table. Finally got to come here for brunch with a friend! We opted for more Thai focused dishes, rather than the brunch food. I was able to park right out front, so that was very nice :) And started with a Vietnamese iced coffee, which was great! We got crab fried rice and this salmon place but funnily enough the best thing was the potato wedges, and I normally don't even like fries. I visited Sistory Thai yesterday and had a mixed experience. for some reason, the waiter wasn't in a good mood, I guess , and his service started off mediocre and then got worse. we actually had to plead to get the rice we ordered! You know those dishes where you take a first bite and all you can do to describe its deliciousness is to make a lot of noises of happiness? That's what happened after I tried the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha soup from Sistory Thai Kitchen. Decadent, rich ... a perfect complement of flavors. You'll just have to try it because words don't do it justice. If you're still hung up on the concept of lobster ravioli floating around in Tom Kha, I don't blame you -- it was new to me, too. But Sistory Thai Kitchen bills itself as "Contemporary and Authentic," and it lived up to both with the dishes I ordered via UberEats: the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha and the Crab Fried Rice. The Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha had that familiar creamy, slightly spicy, rich coconut milk broth of Tom Kha, but with the added bonus of delightful pouches of lobster-stuffed ravioli, as well as onions, mushrooms, tomato, and baby corn. The broth served as both a soup and a light sauce for the enormous ravioli (the portion was pretty generous, with about 5-6 large raviolis). Because the lobster was enclosed in the pasta, it allowed the Tom Kha broth to shine on its own, and each component retained its distinct flavor. I ordered the Crab Fried Rice based on the rave reviews on Yelp, and it was probably one of the best crab fried rice dishes I've ever had, with big lumps of crab and nicely seasoned rice. But I'd still say the soup was the standout. At $19 for the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha and $24 for the Crab Fried Rice, the prices might seem a little higher than average, but you're definitely paying for above-average quality food, and shellfish is normally expensive as it is. So maybe save this spot for a special occasion or a group outing. Based on the dishes I tried, I can't wait to explore more of Sistory's authentic creativity ... and eat more of that Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha, of course. read more

What a save for Easter brunch/lunch! So happy that I stumbled across this new Thai spot when I was avidly looking for a table for 6. Sistory lay roots in the previous Sabuy Sabuy 2 location on San Pablo. Looks like it has received a very warm welcome so far based on the reviews and the amount of people inside and lining up outside. Reservations are recommended if you plan to dine in, especially on the weekends as there is limited seating. They recently added brunch to the menu so we got a variety of items. Menu has a flair of fusion with a creative assortment of scramble/Benedicts, Thai tea pancakes, spiced maple chicken and waffle, Roli Roti, which is a fried fish wrapped in Roti. There was even a Thai lobster ravioli on the lunch menu! Although I'm a little wary of some fusion types, I'm tempted to try this. The lunch Thai dishes were excellent - we ordered pad Thai with prawns (they don't skimp on the prawns!), crab fried rice, yellow curry, pad cashew with tofu, and fried calamari. They can even accommodate for dietary needs- they made my partner's dishes vegan and subbed for brown rice. The breakfast items we ordered were good and very IG-worthy but I think I may stick to the authentic Thai dishes, which were so delicious- my mom couldn't stop complimenting the food, especially the crab fried rice! They offered us a seat at the side before promptly providing us water. We took a look through the menu and found plenty of breakfast and brunch options. The plate was perfectly balanced between the egg benedict, fried chicken, small portion of salad, and potatoes. It was quite filling but not enough to pull you down. We ordered the morning set $19 and Popeyes set $25. The morning set, what blew my mind was the roti/yellow curry that was with the potato wedges. That was hella bomb. The Popeyes set, the salmon was cooked perfect, amazing sauce on top and for some reason, the country style potato was hella good too. Really glad restaurant week is here so I can try a lot of the menu for a reasonable price. The drinks, thai ice tea, strawberry lemonade, and melon spritzer. I actually found this place on TikTok! I was surprised it was in Berkeley and couldn't wait to go try. Most of these foodie-like restaurants are usually in SJ or LA. We decided to try this place out for lunch since we were craving Thai food. We ordered delivery through Uber Eats. I'll start with the bad... the packaging was not great. We ordered the Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew and it looked like it was packaged while it was way too hot to the point that the soup container top was deformed (picture below). It also spilled in the bag. The vermicelli came in foil and when I unwrapped it from the foil, it was in a plastic sandwich bag that was also extremely hot. The Paradise Pla Krob spilled a bit too. For the food itself, the dishes were okay. Their special Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew was tasty but the vermicelli doesn't absorb much flavor. The pork ribs were good in it though. Also, the dish is pretty spicy, so I'd recommend adding that to the description in Uber Eats because it doesn't mention it being spicy at all. My boyfriend had the Paradise Pla Krob and he said the fish was good, but the broth was just okay. Personally I thought the fish in his dish was a bit sweet, so if you're not a fan of sweet and savory, I'd try another dish. Given the prices of these dishes at $22-$23, the portions were smaller than other Thai places we've ordered from and we weren't blown away by the taste. Its a perfectly seasoned curry, with noodles and beef or chicken (but we chose the beef). The beef was soft and chewy and basically melted in my mouth. Definitely one of my favorite thai dishes to date. We devoured it so fast and i was quite sad when it was gone. The portion size was a good amount but definitely on the smaller side for the price which was $22. We also got the Pad Ped Moo Krob. The pork is thick yet has an amazing crunch. With the rice and bell peppers, it was definitely filling and flavors melded well together! I personally enjoyed the Kao Soi more because the curry was just so rich and scrumptious. A wonderful experience dining in this small Berkeley restaurant. It was really nice to support a restaurant that has an all-woman front of house staff. The vibe of this small restaurant was very cozy and almost boutique like, which I really enjoyed because it gave me a home feel. To the food: Per usual, my friends and I (4 of us total) got quite a few dishes just to try a bit of everything. We started with the curry puffs and crispy roti. I personally preferred the curry puffs because the thickness of the filling paired well with the liquidity of the sauce. The crispy roti was also good but wasn't as special in my opinion. We got 4 entrees: Kao Soi, Pad Pak, Pad Kee Mao, and Tom Yum, listed in order of personal preference. I will admit I'm definitely biased because I had a great experience with Kao Soi in the past and now love it no matter where I go. That being said, it was delicious and the meat on the bone was so tender. I would say the rest of the dishes were exactly what you would expect. We tried different proteins and different vegetables with noodles and rice and they were all delicious, but not particularly special. The Tom Yum soup was good but pretty standard for what I've tasted. Definitely recommend this place for a cute date spot or a small get together with friends. Pros: This restaurant is highly praised as a "hidden gem" with "super flavorful" food. The interior decor was extremely cute, and the food was delicious also! - Curry Puff: 10/10, so crispy on the outside. Additionally the potato filling already inside was so flavorful. To top it off the puffs come with a side of curry to dip/ drizzle onto the pastries which transforms the flavor of the pastries making them even more delicious than they already were. Highly recommend. - Thai Iced Coffee: the coffee was delicious but it was a little too sweet for my liking. For those who usually don't add sugar to their coffee I suggest requesting them to lower the sugar content or skip the drink overall. - Sister Benedict: Came on a huge plate with lots of food, the Benedicts were good, pretty typical, but the chicken was crispy and moist. Came with a side of potatoes and salads. While for the most part the dish was just your regular Benedict's they were well done and nicely plated. - Grilled Salmon Popeye: grilled salmon with a side of scrambled eggs, salad, potatoes, and toast. A cute little Thai and Thai fusion restaurant across the street from Tokyo Fish Market. There's only metered street parking, no private lot. I came on July 4th, a Tuesday around 11:30AM and it wasn't busy so was seated right away. There's an alcoholic drink menu with some fun cocktails and they were advertising bottomless mimosas on the weekends for only $22 per person. Got the curry puffs appetizer and it was super fluffy and soft and I liked that the curry sauce was on the side so you can customize how much curry flavor you want. There was also a nice fresh pickled cucumber and onion salad on the side which was good too. The beef Benedict was good. The most amazing part is their beef in the beef Benedict was just like simmered beef in pho! So flavorful and deep. The potatoes were nice and crispy. The best one was the Tom yum fried rice! It was soooooooo flavorful. Now it was too spicy for me but I also can't even eat white pepper, so no surprise here. Even though it was spicy and I was dying, I kept eating it because it was so good. I reached a point where I even got a glass of milk just so I could keep eating it without dying lol. So if you can handle spicy food, I recommend the Tom yum fried rice. The salmon it comes with isn't really seasoned because you need to dip it in the sauce! The sauce is also spicy fyi. The soup it comes with is pretty interesting. This is such a cute little place, with really beautiful decor. The food is amazing, and in particular the brunch menu is kind of a Thai American food fusion. I had the beef curry benedict and Thai tea pancakes. The Benedict had amazing flavor and the Thai tea pancakes were so good they were like a dessert. Nice Thai restaurant in the Albany and Berkeley border. Went here on a Monday evening. We started off our dinner with the spring rolls. They were piping hot and served in a frying basket on top of a tray. I loved the presentation of it with a banana leaf and parsley. The spring rolls were very crunchy and filled with vegetables and noodles. The taste was pretty good and not too salty. The dipping sauce was a sweet and sour chili sauce. It paired well with the spring rolls. We got 4 rolls. The pad Thai was very delicious. I loved its presentation with the garnish of spring onions and bean sprouts. Along with the wedge of lime, the vibrant colors just popped out to us. Loved the overall flavor of the dish. The pad Thai wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet and the noodles were nice and chewy. We opted for the beef as our protein of choice. It was nice and tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the tofu and bits of egg in this dish. The addition of bean sprouts and spring onions gave the dish a wonderful crunch. The peanuts were a pleasant touch to the dish. Nice flavor and texture. The Kao Soi was an excellent curry noodle dish. I enjoyed the sweet and creamy coconut-based curry sauce. I can taste the ginger, garlic, and chilies in it. The spice level was not too bad. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but once I got a few more servings, I was able to tolerate the burn. I loved the presentation of this dish. It also came with fried noodles and two dried chilies. Loved the egg noodles with its texture and how it soaked up the curry. The dish also had a juicy chicken thigh. Excellent flavor and pairing. The pickled mustard green was good with its acidity. It gave the dish another wonderful flavor profile. Pretty enjoyable dish, especially if you like spicy food. I wasn't sure if this was a medium spice. We ended our dinner with a Thai iced tea. It was nice and refreshing. Served with ice inside a mason jar. The tea was good. Just sweet enough and very necessary to wash down all of our delicious food. Service was excellent. Our server was very courteous and efficient. She made sure our visit was a very pleasant one. It was comforting knowing that she filled up our waters every so often. Our dishes came at a very timely manner. The ambiance was nice. Pretty chill setting. Loved the decor inside the restaurant. Very clean and well maintained. The parking was not too bad. Just park by the side to a meter. Lucky for us, it was after 6 pm and parking was free. Overall, wonderful experience at Sistory Thai Kitchen. I enjoyed each dish we ate and thank the stupendous staff for their efforts. I would love to visit here again someday. It would be nice to try some of their other dishes. This was a cute and fairly quiet brunch spot. I dined here solo and it was nice because it wasn't super crowded and the inside was so aesthetic! Unfortunately, the cons of dining solo are that I can't try as many dishes, so I settled on the Thai Tea Pancakes. These were very pretty and also unique, which is why I got them, but I regret not being able to try some of the savory dishes here. I liked the pancakes and found them to be super fluffy, but they were really sweet with the syrup and I also didn't find the syrup to be that similar to thai tea flavor. I think these would be good to share but it was too sweet to have by myself for breakfast. Still, the quality is clearly excellent here and the spot is so nice, I definitely want to come back and bring friends/family to try more :) read more
