After 6 long years of using our master bathroom shower, we realized the poor workmanship of the house flipper that sold us our house. Tiles not lined up, water leaking out the shower door, water leaking through the grout, grout cracking, water pooling in a corner of the shower because it wasn't properly sloped. It got to the point where what once was a pretty shower became a nasty place to shower in. Kenny was fast to respond, professional, and took his job seriously. I called him and told him what I needed done and a few days later he came out to my place and gave me a quote which was very reasonable so I hired him for the job. Scope of work: Kitchen + Master Bath + Guest Bath complete demo and remodel, downstairs flooring…read more(from carpet/tile to LVP), tile around the fireplace, and door/frame repaint Few things I wish I knew before starting the project (this was my first big renovation): - When obtaining quotes, clearly communicate the materials you want included in the quote (e.g., quote based on current layout, quote based on kitchen cabinets going all the way to the ceiling, quote based on shower tiles going all the way to the ceiling, etc.). This will help to make the quotes more comparable and will ensure there aren't any major surprises along the way. - Confirm working hours (e.g., what time they will start each day, what time they will finish each day, do they work weekends, etc.). - If you have the space, buy new appliances as soon as possible. Similarly, order shower glass doors as soon as tiling is done. You never know when something will go out of stock or if there will be unexpected delays in delivery. - Be prepared to make all the design choices (unless you hire a separate designer). They will opine on something very specific if you ask and will definitely bring something to your attention if they think you're about to make a huge mistake, but in general, you are responsible for all the materials selection. We met with 6 contractors before selecting Entourage. Of the 6 we met with, only 2 encouraged doing things "by the book" (i.e., getting the proper permit from the city). In fact, some of them actively discouraged us from obtaining the permit. Given the magnitude of the project, it made us a bit nervous that some of the contractors didn't want us to pull the proper permit (we understood that obtaining the permit will add to our budget and timeline and were ok with it). Of the 2 that did recommend doing things by the book, we went with Entourage because their pricing was more reasonable. FYI, Entourage handles all the work related to pulling the permit for minimal cost. Overall, we are very happy with how our house turned out and plan to hire them on future projects (we have also recommended them to several friends). Entourage's quality of work, especially as it relates to tiling, is just amazing. In fact, friends that came over to check out the "new" house commented on how they thought the project would've cost way more than what we ended up spending. Our primary contact, Paulina, was super responsive and helpful. They estimated that the project would take 3 - 4 months and it was completed almost exactly on the 3-month mark. After pointing out the areas of concern to him, Ken offered a couple non-serious possibilities for the phenomenon, and was able to assure me there was no threat to either the structural integrity of the house or the cement slab foundation - and pretty much bottom-lined it, saying there's really nothing to worry about. I really appreciated Ken's easy-going demeanor, and sensed zero interest in him trying to sell me a repair service that wasn't needed. Ken is just an honest guy offering his experienced opinion - in no doubt, putting yet another homeowners' unwarranted concerns to rest. Would be nice If all companies sent inspectors who operated the same way as Ken.
