They're Texas-born and Colorado-raised (there's actually a whole story behind the name involving the old Republic of Texas capitals) and it shows in the best way, because they do real chef-driven BBQ alongside their beer. I've been here twice---once for the beer and food then came back for the food. Not knocking on their beer, the second time I came back was around lunch time and I had a hankering for bbq. The fact that it's in the same shopping center as ARC thrift store definitely gives them bonus points because sometimes I need to refuel after shopping. This past visit I ordered the Brisket Blue sandwich and it hit the spot! I got the Nashville sauce on the side along with a side of regular bbq and the latter was the winner. The sandwich was stacked with a generous portion of moist chopped brisket, fried onions and bleu cheese crumbles. Half was plenty for me and it gave me delicious leftovers for lunch the next day too! You get a beer or soda when you order a sandwich at lunch so keep that in mind if you're thirsty. What a cool brewery and bbq joint... I was in town for work and SCB&B was recommended to me... Stopped in and was not disappointed. To start, the place smells amazing via the aroma of fresh bbq when you walk in the door... Instantly makes you hungry. Add in the friendly service, nice looking menu, and good beer selection, and this place was a win. My only gripe (and I get it, this is CO) was all the pride crap that's being shoved down your throat... To each their own, so I digress. We popped in for a little lunch date on a Friday at 130pm and the place was pleasantly buzzy. Sports on the tvs and nearly half the tables had guests which was a great sign. We ordered the nachos with chicken and they were bomb. Just delicious. The beers were great too!! It's good. Not a huge selection of beers on tap but the stout I ordered was good. Gary ordered a Tommy Knocker's non-alcoholic beer. It's delicious. Tommy Knocker's is in Idaho springs. They have great food there too. I tried the bbq nachos and we share some smashed potatoes. They're ok. I don't like the sweet of the bbq seasoning. They aren't really smashed. Just fingerlings. That's on me though. Gary said his smoked wings are delicious. I will say that the service was very good although the menu I had and the table were in red sticky. This is a small restaurant/bar with a great selection of beer. They have outdoor seating as well as small and large tables inside. I counted 6 big TV's as well as a barrel full of games and markers and crayons for the Littles. Service was friendly but our food came out randomly and at different times. What we ordered was good and I enjoyed my Brisket Blue except for the large chunks of fat. All the sauces and dips were tasty and the green tomato relish was so good. It's been a hot minute since we stopped by so we thought to go again. So happy to report their quality food/beer and friendly atmosphere hasn't changed. If anything i think it improved, which is hard when you're pretty great already. Six Capital has excellent beer variety. I had their Raspberry beer which was so delicious and refreshing. My husband had a flight and liked all and ended with a pint of the Hefeweizen. They also expanded their menu. They kept their staples but added yummy hush puppies and a chicken bacon ranch sandwich. All their ingredients are high quality and CO sourced. I'm a ranch snob and loved their ranch. My husband had their wings and really enjoyed the dry rub and sauces that came on the side. What a hidden bbq gem! Get it in my belly NOW! The brisket... probably the BEST I've ever had. Yes, I said it... moist on the inside and charred on the brim. Seasoned and smoked to perfection. The pulled pork, wow! Sauce choices... don't choose get them all. If you are GF, just ask the staff, they are ready and educated to tell you what you can have. A Solid brewery with some really tasty food! There was an assortment of beer from light, to hoppy to dark! I had a really delightful Raspberry Chocolate Stout, I would return for that in the future! But even with it being as good as it was, that beer may not have been the highlight of the visit. The Nachos were delicious, they had a multiple meat options including beef, chicken and pork. We tried both the beef and the chicken, the beef was the better of the two. The cheese sauce was really good, I would recommend the nachos even without the smoked meats. Otherwise it was a simple bar atmosphere, a decent patio, plenty of indoor seating with a couple of TVs with various shows and sports going on. This place is a favorite of my husband and I. I was surprised I had not written a review before. While this place does not brew their own beer, they showcase many local beers. We have had many great brews there. My favorite is a Launchpad Piggyback Ride IPA. My husband has been enjoying a Lactose Intolerance Nightmare. We went in today for some of their delicious beer and sandwiches. Their brisket and pulled pork are smoked on the premises. It is by far the best BBQ we have had in Colorado. The atmosphere is fun. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have trivia nights and bingo during week. It's also a great place to watch a game, and we may pop in tomorrow to catch my Lions. Whenever the fish and chips food truck stops by I always bring my food to this establishment as they allow you to bring outside food though they do have a kitchen. Today I happened to engage in a conversation with one of the cooks I believe he's the master griller. Once he found out I've never had any of their food yet alone bar-b-que he said "one second ". He came back with a sample of the pulled meats: chicken, pork, and beef and they literally melted in my mouth. So yeah I'll be visiting here more often eating THEIR food. Having heard the buzz around Six Capital Brewing, I knew I had to go check it out. So with a sunny day this past Saturday, hubs and I made our way to see what Six Capital Brewing & BBQ was all about. SPACE: Six Capital Brewing took over the space formerly occupied by Peak to Peak Brewing in Aurora off Iliff and Buckley. The space is large and features a small patio out front. There's a variety of seating styles to accommodate groups of any size. The walls are adorned with tin tackers and signage from other Colorado breweries. SIPS: We sampled a variety of sips during our visit. My husband is a sucker for IPAs so he chose Aurora Berrialis (New England IPA) and Golden Toad (American IPA) I was seeking something a bit lighter, so I grabbed the Kolschal Distancing (kolsch) and the Saison. The kolsch was definitely my favorite. It was clean and crisp, perfect for the warm day. They feature a variety of guest taps in addition to their own brews, much like their predecessor Peak to Peak. For those that prefer cocktails they feature a small selection of boozie bevvies just for you! So there's easily something for everyone to enjoy here. SUSTENANCE: Six Capital Brewing & BBQ boasts a robust menu full all the barbecue goods! After browsing their menu hubs chose to nosh on the tacos (brisket, porker, and chicken) while I chose the pitmaster cubano. That cubano was damn delish, that's for sure and hubs enjoyed his taco selection. SERVICE: Our servers were on it. They checked back with us just frequently enough, ensured we had everything we need to enjoy our meals, and made sure our glasses were never empty. On our day off we were looking to try a new brewery. We both thought BBQ sounded good too, so we decided to make the 30 min venture to try Six Capital. Lots of open tables with plenty of spacing. We loved their respect for COVID procedures. We were very impressed with the bbq tacos- brisket, chicken, pork were fantastic! And the churros were a MUST! I don't know how they did it but MUAH GOOD!! They were on the "specials" so hopefully it's an add to the menu. The beers were hit or miss for us. I liked the IPAs, she loved the darks. The black IPA and honey habanero brown were our favorites (don't sleep on the habanero brown). Since this is a newer spot (and we are beer snobs) we have faith the brews will continue to improve.
