We are having such a good experience with this new service at Six Degrees that I felt I had to share. The salon now has a Barber Station with a young, hip barber named Brian who cuts hair and can do an executive shaves all while sitting in a vintage barber chair. My son who is 16 yrs old now gets his hair cut from Brian every few weeks and is very happy with his new look. I wanted my son to try the Executive Shave, mostly because he hadn't quite figured the shaving thing out on his own. He ended up loving the shave and getting a few good shaving tips! At the time the salon was giving a deal on the Executive Shave which may still apply. read more

I received a facial from Frida. I hadn't had a facial in over a year and I used to go Bev Hills, but it was just too far to go! So I opted to try Frida who I met through a friend. She has a quiet space in the rear of the salon which is nice and relaxing. She did a hand treatment while I was getting a facial. I got a facial with derma planing and a peel. She also did a neck massage with a hydrating mask was on. My skin looks amazing and I haven't really had any peeling. Frida is very knowlegable about skincare and also does makeup. Salon Six Degrees is a super clean, hip and very comfortable place to have your hair worked on. It's evident in the style that owners Joel and Frida have poured their hearts into the look and feel of this clever little salon. Joel has been cutting mine and my wife's hair for years, so we've always had a good excuse to visit Manhattan Beach from SF for a little makeover and upkeep, although it's not as often as we'd like. This is by far my favorite salon in this area. I used to have fried bleach blonde hair that was poorly colored. After it all broke off I became obsessed with growing it out but still wanting highlights. I had many terrible experiances other places with stylists cutting way too much off and leaving me in tears. I decided to try this place with Danielle as my stylist. She saved my hairs life. She was able to only partially process my hair letting the length of it grow but adorning it with beautiful dimensional highlights blending in with the rest of my hair. After a few months of this my hair is much thicker, longer, and as soft as it was before ever dying it. I have so much more confidence and I don't have to spend as much time on styling. Her cuts are fantastic, modern, and flattering. I went to Melissa Ivy and highly recommended her to anyone, especially blondes! I was looking to get lived-in color for summer and she did the best job ever giving me beachy California highlights. In addition to being one of the sweetest, caring and most patient peoole I know, Marcela knows what she's doing when it comes to hair!! I feel like I learn something new every time I see her. She is constantly educating herself which is a huge sign to me (and should be to everyone) that I am in good hands and am never going to leave with less hair than we discussed or have an out of style cut and/or color. We've tried a few different styles and color options (I went from partial highlights to balayage, layers to blunt) and I have always left looking and feeling fabulous. She also does lash extentions which was a huge confidence booster for me. It's really unfortunate this place only deserves 2 stars. I went here in Sept and the girl did a GREAT job on highlighting my hair. I tried making an appointment here for the last 2 days and they called me back on the number I dialed from (not the number I left on my message so I missed the call) and then I called twice the next day and no one answered or returned my called. Today I came for my second facial with Alena. She was very sweet & pleasant. Impeccably clean salon/facial room. I'm pushing 40, so healthy skin has become very important to me.
