Interesting day at Hurricane Harbor. Day started out fine as we are members and parking is a part of our membership. Got there early enough to park close and walk to the park. We waited in line which was a surprise as we didn't have to last year being members. We had access 15 mins before general admission and we loved that. On this occasion August 5th, we chose to rent a cabana and celebrate our girls birthday. We were told we had to go into the park to get the members discount, we were unable to reserve online. We went early enough to be able to secure a cabana and paid $115.00 with our discount so we were happy with the cost. We were escorted over to the cabana and when we got there the tent was full of spider webs, the table had not been wiped down (maybe ever??) and the 4 lounge chairs were covered in dirt and sand, the pads were torn and broken and the chairs did not recline. We left to enjoy the slides since that was the main reason you go of course. We asked a staff member directions to one of the slides and were sent on a wild goose chase, finally after asking 3 other staff members we finally located it. After a few hours we decided to go back to the cabana and have lunch. Once we had our food and sat down we were literally attacked by a swarm of bees. One of our friends picked up her cup to drink and there was a bee in her straw. Needless to say she was stung inside her mouth and spit out the bee. We had finally had enough and went to talk to the cabana staff. Once we explained the challenges we experienced the only response we got was "that's not our problem!" and we should have come to them sooner. (really??) When my friend told them what happened with the bee she was laughed at, no empathy or apologies. We went to first aid to have the bee sting looked at and the husbands went to speak with guest services who took more of an interest in what happened. They apologized for the rudeness of the cabana staff and took a full report. Later that evening they refunded the $115.00 for the cabana and we felt they really cared and listened to what we had to say. We've been members for years so it felt right. Come to today, 15 days later, they charged our card again for the $115.00 with no follow up phone call. Hmmm, this is a major reconsider to continue our memberships or to renew. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. EVER. I am a fair and level-headed person. The type of guy who still tips 20% when the service isn't fantastic because he's sure the waiter or waitress had their reasons. But this place was an absolute nightmare from the second my family arrived. My family flew out from Michigan to visit me for a week. For their last night in town, I really pushed the idea of Hurricane Harbor. I had gone to Magic Mountain a few weeks earlier and the park was alluring when we walked by the entrance in the 105 degree heat. I figured a nice day relaxing next to the wave pool and riding a few water slides would be a perfect end to their trip. Hurricane Harbor made me look like a d-bag. We arrived at noon with passes already printed and walked right in. With so much going on, we searched for an information table to grab a park map to decide where to post up for the day. Except there IS no park map. They don't even post maps on the walls to reference where the hell you are. Not a deal-breaker but quite inconvenient. Strike 1. We took a walk around the entire park looking for an area with a large amount of chairs so we could lay down. The problem was THERE IS NONE. There are maybe 250 chairs in a park that I'm guestimating had roughly 1000-2000 people in it. Maybe more. How do you not invest in chairs?!? Strike 2. Everyone is getting a little agitated now. We've been wandering around the park for 30 minutes and the relaxation hasn't started yet. We decide to buy a $125 cabana so we can lay down and forget this mess. There are no signs telling you where to purchase these, however, so after asking 3 separate lifeguards, we're directed to a hidden window where the attendant informs us the cabanas are sold out. The two groups behind us in line also groan and walk away. Let's use common business-sense here. You are selling cabanas for $125 each for the day. The people purchasing these will undoubtedly spend more money on top of that. WHY WOULD YOU NOT LINE THE ENTIRE EDGE OF THE PARK IN CABANAS? They turned away 3 groups in the matter of 3 seconds. That's a loss of $375.00 at a MINIMUM. STRIKE 3. We're stranded now. No chairs, no cabana, no clue. The attendant has also informed us that towels are not provided and you cannot rent them. They have towels for sale in the gift shop though! Aw shucks, thanks my lady! (strike 4) My dad decides to rent tubes for us all. We throw everything in a $15 locker and jump in the lazy river. Finally some water after over an hour of frustration. We get out and find an empty spot on the concrete with some trees over top of us in the corner of the park and use the tubes as chairs. Shortly after, the entire park is laying on tubes on the solid concrete. I'd like to think we're trendsetters but I think everyone else realized they had no choice either. After laying down for about 30 minutes to gain our composure, my dad and I get in line for a water slide. After 30 minutes and no movement, we're getting frustrated again. Compounding the issue, kids keep running past everyone in line because a SEPARATE waterslide is used for the same entrance. They all claim they're going to ride the other slide, but we're not seeing anyone go down it. Everyone around us is getting chippy as well. This is allowing people to cut everyone because the staff is not enforcing anything. We're all frying in the sun and they're moving 1 person down every minute or so. When we finally rode the slides, over an hour and 10 minutes had passed. We had moved about 30 feet total from the back of the line to the front. We should have left but pride kicked in. I WAS GOING TO RIDE THAT SLIDE DAMMIT. And to its credit, the slide was fun. But still, strike 5. We rode the Tornado as well. The wait was roughly 45 minutes due to other people cutting on that too. Amazingly fun, but not worth all the trouble. After about 4 hours, we've had enough. Time to go. We turn in our tubes and get a free soft-drink coupon. The lady gives me two. I take it to the kitchen and redeem the first for a cherry coke. Not needing a second soda, I ask if I can get a bottled water instead because it is actually 20 cents cheaper than the soft drinks. The cashier says no because that doesn't take taxes into account. Wait, what? Taxes? Why is that even... aw, forget it. Give me an orange Fanta. I'm sick of trying to make sense of this place. HH (Hurricane Harbor) is my favorite water park. Period. You have to take that in perspective...how many true water parks do you know of? A handful at most. Deciding on what water park to go to is like deciding if you want to go to Knotts or Disney. Some people have complained about the lines... Seriously. Do you go to Disneyland in the middle of July on a Saturday? I sure hope not. Why would you go to one of the biggest water parks in SoCal during the same time and expect to have small lines? If you REALLY have to go on a weekend at least think ahead and get there prior to opening or stay all the way to the end of the operating day...it gets pretty slow those last couple hours. I was spoiled when it comes to these sorts of places because I grew up in NorCal and spent many many days slidin' at Oakwood Lake Resort in Manteca...home of the original fiberglass waterslide. Every water park now gets judged against that amazing place. SoCal is hot. Really hot sometimes. I think it was 124 degrees the other day. Valencia and the San Fernando Valley dont have tons of places to get away and beat the heat...so thats what makes this place even nicer. HH is open basically from Memorial Day to Labor Day...and for being only open those few months its surprisingly big and well kept up. They seem to keep adding rides, they just added a whole new area with tons of ways to get wet called Mr Six's Splash Island. The area they just redid used to be staffed with 4 lifeguards and now takes 14 if that gives you any idea of how they do things. This is just like any other theme park...if you go on a weekday the lines are a fraction of what they are on the weekends. On slow weekdays most rides you might wait 10-15 minutes for. On the weekends those same rides might be 45 minutes.There are tons of rides like the lazy river and the wave pool so you can hang out and soak between waiting for the different rides. I think one of the coolest things might be the lockers...for 12 bucks you get a locker with a waterproof bracelet with an RF id tag in it...you just wave that bracelet in front of the sensor at the lockers and it pops open your locker for you. I end up going to my locker every 15 minutes. The parking and extra costs (food, ect) are just about the same as a nice movie theater or a theme park of comparable size. You wouldn't spend the day at Magic Mountain or Disneyland and expect parking to be free and food to cost the same as Taco Bell. As for admission you can usually find a coupon for just over 20 bucks...and if you are from the area you might as well just get a season pass for both Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor for like 80 bucks. Tip: Don't wear a bathing suit with metal or rivets in it...they wont let you on the fast waterslides...I thought it wasn't a big deal but they do enforce that rule...to keep the slides in nice condition. I know there are a bunch of people who have not liked HH for one reason or another but I have always prided myself in being honest about my reviews even if I have a different opinion from everyone else...this is the prime example. Possibly the worst water park in the United States. Inefficiency at it's finest. After 3 1/2 hours and $37.99 + $15 dollar locker fee we had been on only two attractions: Tikki Falls, and the Tornado. The wait time for each attraction was over an hour. Blue intertubes are available to rent for $7, and apparently they work just like a fast pass, allowing you to jump ahead of any line and go straight on the ride. The college aged staff and lifeguards were rude and unprofessional. Here's a few highlights of conversations overheard while waiting in line for 2+ hours, getting a tan: ~Lifeguard to a child: "geeze, I don't know the time." ~VIP guest relations host to a distraught middle aged woman, "I am sorry you're being harrased by a park guest, there is nothing I CAN do about it," turning away rolling her eyes. Since she was hosting a group who paid for her VIP service, which apparently means you are let directly into the ride. ~Waterslide attendant to a group of guests: "Yeah I've tried that (Meth), but I try to not do it too often since it's so addictive. ~Waterslide attendant to my boyfriend: "All the tubes (Tikki Falls) are the same". If you insist on going to Hurricane Harbor, despite the negative reviews, make sure to spend the extra $40 to get a fast pass. Apparently, the mismanaged park has some strange business strategies to compensate for lost revenue. There needs to be a HBS case study done on this place. I think this is .5 stars better than Raging Waters. The rides in these water parks are never that distinctively different in my opinion. Raging water seems to have more variety. BUT, Hurricane harbour is a lot cleaner, friendlier and nicer. Also my biggest gripe about raging waters - NO SHADE while lining up!! Most of the time you are lining up under the shade for HH. I think in general, Hurricane Harbour is much better managed. And complaining about the costs? It's only $20 to get in, so of course the fees are expected. $15 parking, $12 for small lockers, $7/14 for tubes. But tube rentals are not necessary, and only used for the River Cruise. Plus all water parks charge those standard costs anyways. We basically spent $67 for 2 people for 7 hours of fun which isn't bad at all. If you have a full car, carpool and split the costs of parking/gas! The worst thing about Hurricane Harbour was the initial wait to get in. I arrived at 11am on Sunday, and OMG. The lines were so long. It was the same lines as six flags lines and moved ever so slowly. Very inefficient and unnecessary wait time. I don't get why they couldn't just use two or even one booth dedicated for HH?! After renting out lockers (Super clean and hi-tech!), using bathroom, buying $3.75 water and putting on sunblock, my bf and I proceeded to the Mr. Six's Splash Island to wet ourselves from the high 80 degree weather. Reptile Ridge: The first ride was very quick wait. I went on the middle blue (Gator Gorge?) one that was straight down. Gave me a massive wedgie and drank a lot of water. Beautiful. The drop was pretty crazy too, nearly 90 degrees to me and since I didn't expect it, I was shocked! I went on the blue side one (Gecko Gully East?) and it was more chill, kind of hurt my back. The wait for both was only about 20 minutes! Lost Temple Rapids: "White water action" you can share with 4 people max, 2 people min. Pretty chill, relatively long for a water ride. The wait was about 40 minutes. Tiki Falls: Pretty fun but not very memorable, you go and grab the two people tubes. Not too long of a line, maybe 30 minutes Taboo Tower: Dare devil Plunge. It went straight down again. Just longer than Gator Gorge, but Wasn't any more steep. Waited about 40 minutes for this Bamboo Racer: Wait was about 30 minutes. Rather short, could be steeper for sure. You wait at the bottom for the toboggan and you go down head first. Boa Constrictor: Do not let the line deceive you! It looks short, but this was the worst wait experienced. It took like an hour! You're supposed to wait for people to hand you a single person tube, since we didn't rent one. But if you already rented one, definitely use it and cut the wait by 70%! It was pretty fun though, but kind of hot because some parts it was completely dark, and you can just feel the hot stuffy breeze that was trapped inside the tubes. Tornado: The best! So fun! A four leaf clover tube - 2 min, 4 max. The tube was hella heavy, but worth it! You swish around. Wait was probably 50 minutes Coiled Cobra : Alright, hurts a little bit but pretty long at 500ft. Wait was only about 30 minutes Venom Drop: 75 ft and another near 90 degree drop! Pretty long one too. Line was deceptively short but also about 30 minute wait. I was a little nervous to go on, but it really wasn't that bad. Only the first drop, made my heart drop, but after that it was pretty smooth. humongous wedgie once again. River Cruise: Kind of boring, went at 6pm and was a little chilly. You need to rent a tube for this, but if you go late like me, there are plenty lying around to take for free Mr. Six's Splash Island: Concluded with this, so fun! Guaranteed to get you soaking wet! 23 slides to choose from and 1 minute wait. Lots of fountains, rain curtains and squirting effects! And of course the HUGE bucket of water that tips over when it's overflowing! Loves it! *** Tip: No water, bring cash, coke can = $20 if you buy water from the food places it's cheaper and they accept card! Wear flip flops, leave them at the bottom but your feet could get hot =/ but i hate holding onto my flip flops with me when im on the slide. no shirts on slides. i'm also gonna wear board shorts to my next water park to avoid any metal friction! Do not forget to reapply sunscreen especially the face and back! Favourites: Short waits at the beginning. Shaded waiting area most of the time. Kiddy pool is always fun and no wait. Tornado was the best ride. Venom, do it if you dare! Clean lockers! Not overly dirty! Bathroom wasn't disgusting. Do not want: long waits, expensive locker. Expensive food/water. Hurricane Harbor is a fun little water park located next to Magic Mountain. Like my MM review, I'll provide some quick tips for people so they can get the have the best possible experience at the park. First off, if you are local, get the season pass. I actually have the joint Magic Moutain/Hurriance Harbor pass which is quite the sweet deal if you can go to each park several times a year. For people just coming for a one-time visit, try to come during an off-time. The park is open from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September. I recommend going in June or September. The park can get very crowded during July-August, even during the weekdays. Always buy your tickets online in advance so you pay less and don't have to wait in an extra line to get in the park. Arrive before the park opens. You might have to wait in a line for the gates to open but it's better than waiting in longer lines later. If you want a beach chair, grab one right when the park opens. Lockers are expensive (10-15 dollars) so I just bring the bare essentials so I won't worry too much about something being stolen. if you have to get a locker, that's another reason to come right when the park opens so you're not waiting in a huge line. Tornado and Lost Temple Rapids are the most popular rides so hit those first. You can always do the Lazy River/Wave Pool later in the day since you don't have to wait in line for those. Although for Lazy River, you'll want to get a tube and they aren't free like Raging Waters. You have to buy a tube which I recommend doing when you enter the park. They give you a bracelet and you can just leave the tube on your beach chair. If you need another one, you can get it with the bracelet. If you return the tube, they give you a free soda. The tube is also helpful because for several tube rides you have to wait in a line just to get a tube, but if you have the purchased tube, you can go straight to the main line for the ride. The park is quite small so it's easy to get around. If you going during an off period as mentioned before, you can get on most of the rides in a 3-4 hour time frame. Because the food is expensive, your best bet is to eat before and after your time at the park and you also don't want to go on rides with a full stomach. Hopefully this advice helps based on my experiences at the park. It's a lot of fun, just make sure you plan your trip accordingly. read more

I read the reviews and I thought I was going to walk into a super dirty park with super long lines that everybody and their moms is talking about on here but to be honest it's really not like that. The water park itself is small. I went with a group of three and we honestly did not make a line longer then 20 minutes which is pretty decent if you ask me. Everybody on here makes it seem like they waited an hour to get on one ride but you guys must not be killing time by talking to each other or are straight up princesses and want it to go by in seconds for you. The reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because their "Fast Pass" policy is stupid. It's a front of the line pass basically. I had it happen to me twice where the life guard was giving me the ok to go ahead and step onto a slide when he'd frantically wave his finger at me saying no someone with a fast pass just showed up and they get priority. Like dude they can chill and wait like 5 seconds for me to go down this slide. I'm chunky anyways I'll pick up speed and go down the slide fast. I know Disneyland makes their fast pass holders wait until designated times and then when they show up they let a certain amount of non fast past holders go and then some fast pass holders go at a time. they don't just pick the fast past holders over everybody else. Food was obviously over priced for what you get. Chill Six Flags I am not paying 30$ for a burger French fries and small drink if I can drive down 10 minutes to the local in n out and pay 9$ for all of that. Their lemonade smoothies/shakes/whatever are good and so are their funnel cakes. I have the mouth of a sailor so I mean you can complain about the profanity but you can't shield your kid from everything. I used to come here as a kid and throughout high school but I'm disappointed in how much the park has declined in quality. The employees and the lifeguards are great!! They're helpful and friendly. But the park itself needs a HUGE renovation. Pool water at 11am today was extremely dirty, cloudy, and full of debris. Very disappointing!!!! If they don't clean the debris, what else don't they clean??? We reserved a cabana for $75 and was excited to have our own covered area with lounge chairs and a table. They're located by the lizard lagoon slides and the entrance. Reservations are made in advance and the concierge is at the inner tube rental stand by the wave pool. The cabanas are tents that keep cool and are placed in sand, like a massive sand volleyball court. Unfortunately, the cabana was filthy and the chairs looked like they endured a whole lot of weather. Table had a thick film of greasy food residue, dirt, and sand. Lounge chair pads were stained and covered in leaves and dirt. Wasn't quite sure if my expectations were just exceptionally high, but the other people with cabanas were taking the janitor's brooms and sweeping and wiping down the cabanas down themselves as if this was normal for $75. We complained at the Inner Tube Rental desk and they didn't seem to care. Luckily, BEN was kind enough and eager to help us. He had to borrow cleaning gear from the janitors and cleaned the cabana himself. Not only was he helpful but took the problem and handled it gracefully. That's a proactive employee and great customer service. We definitely showed our gratitude because we know it wasn't his fault. Restroom and showers are clean because someone is there consistently for upkeep (THANK YOU). But needs MAJOR renovations. Ventilation is horrible... Imagine the stench! Shower heads are corroded and spray everywhere but straight. Floors are sopping wet because there isn't an efficient draining system. Restroom stalls don't lock or close at all. Really disappointing... Food isn't the best but the customer service is great. Food is very much like what you can buy at Costco but prices are steep. Six Flags - get your game together and update your amusement park. Set your standards higher because your customers deserve better :/ read more

My 3 star rating is based on the average experience I've had at Hurricane Harbor. I've been here many times and sometimes its a 5 star and most of the time its a 1. Let me tell you what you can expect. First, expect to be patient. Expect long waits. I'd make a list of everything you can expect to wait in line to do, but just expect to wait in line for everything. Even going to the bathroom. Yes, at the end of the day after all is said and done, expect to wait to go home. Just expect it and you won't be so disapointed. Expect to pay money. Pay money to park your car ($20), tickets (varies in price), lockers $7-20), tubes ($7-14), food (averages about $10 per person for one meal, drinks ($4 for a soda) Expect to spend money and you'll have a great time. If you are expecting a cheap day, you'll have a miserable time. If you really have to visit during the dead of Summer when the wave pool is packed shoulder to shoulder and looks like what I imagine is comparable to the titanic sinking... then I would suggest you buy a flash pass. Buy a gold flash pass, cut your time in half, and then strut by all of us poor peasants as we sweat miserably in line for hours for a 30 second thrill. This has been said over and over but I'm going to say it again. MEN & BOYS (or women with boardshorts) PLEASE DON'T WEAR ANY SHORTS WITH METAL RIVETS. RIVETS ARE THE SHINY SILVER CIRCLES LOCATED ON THE POCKETS OF MANY SHORTS. YOU WON'T BE ALLOWED TO RIDE ANY OF THE BODY SLIDES. THE LIFEGUARDS ARE VERY VERY STRICT ABOUT THIS. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOURS AND EVERYONE ELSES TIME BY GETTING TO THE TOP AND ARGUING WITH THE LIFEGUARD. THE LIFEGUARD WON'T LET YOU ROLL THAT LEG UP. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE RIVETS OUT, OR FLIP YOUR ENTIRE SHORTS INSIDE OUT (ITS GONNA LOOK LIKE YOU'RE WEARING A DIAPER) DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUST DON'T WEAR THEM. IT'LL SAVE YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE A LOT OF FRUSTRATION. I HEAR A LOT OF PEOPLE ASK THE LIFEGAURDS WHY THEY AREN'T ALLOWED. THE SLIDES ARE FIBERGLASS AND THE RIVETS SCRATCH THEM AND SPLINTER THE FIBERGLASS. Also, women, if you're planning on wearing a shirt with nothing under it, you won't be allowed to use the body slides. Nobody is allowed to wear any kind of shirts on the body slides. Same goes for shoes. You'll have to hold them if you choose to take them to the top of the slide. Just a quick not about the slides/rides/attractions they are all very very fun, if I were to base my rating on the attractions alone it would be 5 stars easily. The biggest thing about Hurricane Harbor is to bring your patience, bring your money, and don't set high expectations. If you do those three things you will have a great time. If you expect to not have to wait in any lines, spend very little money, and set huge expectations then you'll likely be dissapointed and should probably go elsewhere. read more

This Tuesday, the 26th, was my first time ever at Hurricane Harbor. When I read all of the reviews I was super nervous about going and felt like I was going to have a horrible experience, but the exact opposite happened! I had SO much fun. I went with a group of 4 and we all had a great time. We arrived at opening and everything was very clean and organized. Of course, by the end of the day things started to look a little messy, but that happens everywhere. Try walking into an Old Navy by 7pm and tell me if everything is displayed as well as it was at 9am. Probably not! As far as the wait times for rides, most rides I only waited 5-10 minutes. The longest I waited in line was 25 minutes for the popular Tornado ride, which was worth the wait! The only reason I knocked off one star was because the food is EXTREMELY expensive. My cheeseburger was dry, cold and had no taste to it, the fries were stale and even my soda was flat and it cost me over $12. Overall, I had a blast and I'm already planning my next visit with more family and friends. read more

Had to park so far out, I think they just directed us to the desert and called it parking. There was only one shuttle running, with three more sitting while the drivers talked to each other, but we're duped into waiting, thinking it would be here any second. Of course they also put a trashcan right next to that line, and it was full of yellowjackets. Finally got in, got an overpriced locker, and was ready to go about 1.5 hours after parking. It was 105 degrees and we were ready to cool the kids off in the kids areas, but they were closed due to poop. Stood in line for the family ride instead... for an hour. Good quality family time, teaching the kids how to share the ropes to sit on, learning new words carved into the bamboo, and generally having my personal space violated by the ENTIRE family behind me. The good news is that by the time we finished that mediocre ride, the kids areas were open! Yay! Everyone is excited that we'll finally have some fun! The water was freezing, almost all the slides were closed, the ones that were open had long slow lines, and the floor seemed designed to flay the flesh off your bones at the slightest touch. The first aid center is a closet behind a building, and well air conditioned so all the workers are quite comfortable while anyone fresh from the water is freezing! Ok, one more chance, the lazy river (or whatever they call it). The website say to just hop in a raft! What rafts? Oh, you have to rent them! Ugh, oh well, let's just float along with the trash, just don't touch the sides, which are worse than the floor of the kids areas. By the way, people, a parking lot is still a place where cars drive. It is not your personal sidewalk! Save up a little (a lot) more money and go to Great Wolf Lodge, instead. read more

The last time I came to Hurricane Harbor I was still a teen, so it's been a long time, and from what I remembered it was pretty cool. Just returned recently and I was not impressed or very pleased. We went on a Sunday and I do realize that there will be more people at the park and larger crowds, but was not expecting to wait 50 minutes to get on our first ride. The second slide took 40 minutes and to be honest we did not wait for another. We tried to wait later on in the day to find out that it was an hour wait so we just said forget it. Their system of boarding seriously took a long time. They don't just have tubes in the wave pool or river floating. You have to rent a tube for the day in order to get one. For the rides that require tubes they have very little of the yellow tubes, which are for the guests who did not rent one, so the wait for one takes forever. Also, if someone comes up with a rented tube they get to cut in front and go ahead. In the wave pool we got kicked out twice. They closed it down for 10 minute periods every 30 to 45 minutes. They said it was a safety shut down. In the lazy river along the side they have still water which has grown tons of algae and collected trash. This is not sanitary and you can easily just place your hand in there. It was pretty gross. We spent most of our time in the kid areas and even then it wasn't great because my son got hurt coming off of one of the kids slides. His back was scratched badly and looked like a wild animal paw went across his ribs. He did nothing out of the ordinary but come down the slide. The padding at the end of it was not long enough and raised so he slid past it and off of it scraping his back. As for guest relations they sucked. I complained about the slide my son got hurt on and let them know it was unsafe. First they wanted to give us tubes. Of course we said no and they finally said they will comp us 5 tickets for my family. I come back with my proof of tickets for that and find out that they are kicking us out in order to get the comp tickets. This is ridiculous!! It was there fault due to unsafe ride, my son has slashes on his back, we paid for the day and we have to leave. That is BS and even after arguing they stood ground and would not budge. We were there with with other people and did not want ruin the rest of the afternoon so I settled for discount tickets at $21, BS again!! I did complain to there corporate in Texas but will not be spending my money to come here again. read more

Not a fan of this place & definitely won't waste my money going there again!! Lines for the rides are ridiculous.. $17 for parking.. We rented a cabana & it was filthy & hotter inside then outside. 2 out of 4 of the rides I went on hurt me!! They won't let you wear clothes over your bikini going down the slides, not even a tiny spaghetti strap!! The lazy river was nasty!! Lifeguards are rude, security was even ruder!! Ohh & I bought our photo from the photo booth & they told me I will be able to view/share my photo online after 24 hours, but when I went online it said it was unable to locate my photo id number. I would advise you not to come here. Seriously : Do Not Come Here. They just don't care about getting you down the ride. It just takes forever, forever, forever, for the lines to move. Even lines which are appear short when you first get there, aren't actually short. We spent all day there - start to finish - maybe did 5 rides? Like any carnival, once you are inside, they got you. There are enough suckers in the Southern California region such that if every resident goes once every 20 years, they will be full the entire time. Also, the ticket is not the price of entry. HH = horrible customer service and deceitful. My kids have been looking forward to visiting the park again this year due to the new rides that they have added. After verifying the new rides were supposedly open shelling out 100 bucks for tickets and parking, we were told that they have some mechanical issue and will not be open until noon. Okay things break, I get that. When going back to customer service they said the ride is now open but when walking all the way back to the ride, it was still in fact closed. Going back to the customer service desk to get some answers i can over hear them telling folks those two new rides (Tsumani Surge and Typhoon Twister) are open when in fact they are not. Why Lie? Why the depict? Well the only reason is short term financial gain. it is a business after all. But this is pretty short sighted since this does absolutely nothing for long term business. We have had season passes in the past but got tired of the long lines. My kids really were disappointed today but I'm more disappointed the levels that HH customer service reps would go to to deceive customers. It was too blatant to let slide. Not saying the place can't be fun but do not trust them to give you an honest answer. Customer service is hardened I guess to all the complaints and they really do not care about the service of their employees and the satisfaction of their customers. Worst. Park. Ever. I went on a Monday. With my roomie who has a season pass. Neither of us had been here before but he loves the theme park side. And I swear I have an open mind. The stupid things this park does that make no sense go way beyond the liberal safety laws the city or state apparently hit water parks with. They are so inefficient and careless and stupid I can't even begin. Half the dang time is spent with lifeguards flirting and looking for little metal "rivets" from people's bathing suits. Thank god mine didnt have any. I would not be taking a random rusty screw to mine and prying it off my suit and ripping a hole in it. Seriously. We waited 50 minutes for no joke 20 people to go down a series of slides. The lifeguards phone didn't work at another station. There's no park maps. No water fall in the lazy river. One lifeguard was so dumb she couldn't even see a big red soda cup in the slide tunnel but the one at the top 500 feet away could. I can't even think of how many stories from today I forgot but it was just dreadful. I am normal and generally level headed but I would have fired almost every single person from the park today except Deneen. She worked in the single main restaurant of sorts (as far as I know, again, no map) and was nice and friendly while she sold me the way overpriced pizza. But I won't dock them stars for that that's normal. Lol. Then again I'd rate this place negative stars if I could. And we went on a Monday I can't even imagine the weekends... Shudder. read more

So the waterpark is what it is. The slides are fun the water is dirty. I used to enjoy the cabanas, but they have taken away all the services that made the cabanas great. Don't waste your money. Its really a shame we used to get a group of friends and go there all the time. We were told that a new manager cut all the services. We won't be back. read more

This place was fun, I really liked the way it was set up and the theme they were going with. Very clean and the Black Snake Summit was totally insane... pitch black water slides... creepy. Here are my only complaints.....I have a few. 1. The Food SUCKS!!!! They don't let you bring in a cooler with your own food and they offer crappy food, no variety. Burgers, PIzza and Chicken, Thats it! My and my GF are vegetarians and they didn't even have veggie burgers! Most theme parks have realized they need to cater to non-meat eaters, I guess Six flags hasn't gotten that memo yet. They need to offer salads , sandwiches etc... more variety! 2. I about our tickets online cause we can only pay 19.99 for them, but they charge 5.00 to print at home. WTF?!? Its not like I am using their paper or ink to print the tickets out.... Stupid and pointless FEE!!! 3. Pay to Rent Tubes???? Honestly... that is just being cheap. I know that the park is going through hard times but seriously... too many hidden fees they don't tell you about till you get there. You rent a tube but then if you want to go on a slide that you don't need one, you leave it at the bottom and some kid steals it. Why do you even bother? I am giving it 4 stars instead of 3 which it probably deserves due to these 3 things. I had a blast and I thought the park was clean and the staff was nice. On the positive side it's a water park. And if that's their best feature than you know there isn't anything special about this place. No additional stars JUST because its a water park. ONE HUGE Major Flaw: SOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. The lines for a ride are not long at all or so you would think when you first stand in line. But it moves at such a slow pace that you would rather watch paint dry. The staff doesn't seem to be focused on keeping the lines moving which may in fact be a management and policy flaw. If you're out there in a 100 degree heat YOU KNOW how important it is to keep the lines moving so that you can eventually get to that stupid 15 sec. slide. They can certainly speed things up and still maintain complete safety by being more organized and work as a team. They just simply need to be much more focused to keeping the slides moving. We spent 8 hours in the park yesterday and were only able to get on 5 rides. What B.S. Not worth the entrance fee at all. read more

Let me first say that the ONLY reason I am giving it 2 stars is that admission was free with my Magic Mountain season pass. We decided spur of the moment to come here on a Sunday afternoon. We only live 15 minutes away. Since it was a warm (90 degree) day it sounded like a "good idea". We got there pretty late in the day...around 3pm. They close at 7pm. The parking lot was a nightmare but after circling the lot a few times we found something up close. There was no line to get in (another bonus of coming late). Knowing that it was busy, and next to impossible to find chairs for 5 people, we wanted to get a cabana. I checked online before I left the house and it showed availability. As we walked over to the Cabana Rental booth where we were then redirected to the float tube booth for rentals. Waited 15 minutes in a huge line where they only had one person ringing up sales (yet about 6 employees just standing around). When I said I wanted to rent a cabana they said they are all sold out. WHAT? I told them I checked online and they show available. I was told many different stories about how they release those at noon for other people to buy and how they have nothing available. I asked about if someone leaves do they open those up for sale again. They said no and that they have to keep them reserved (if the person decides to come back). I asked about some empty ones I saw walking on they way over. They said those must be reserved as well and they cant release them in case the person comes to decides to rent them. WHAT? By this time it's 3:30pm. Chances are they aren't coming. So they just dismissed me and said "sorry we don't have anything". I rented three tubes for the kids and we started our hunt for a few chairs in the shade. As we circled the park there was not an empty chair in sight. There was barely a sliver of shade to be had as well. But guess what? There were many Cabanas wide open...unused, empty. There were two off by themselves, under a bunch of trees that were empty. Perfect I think. As we get further I see three more empty cabanas. We stop and I decided to try and call the reservations line. No answer. At this point my wife is pissed, kids are hot and cranky and it's almost 4pm. I decided to walk back over to the rental booth and ask. As I was walking to the rental booth, I come across "Cabana Cove" and guess what....there are at least a dozen EMPTY CABANAS. No one. No sign of towels, belongings, nothing but a dozen empty cabanas. I'm pissed now. Fuming, I begin my march toward the rental booth. On the way I see a nice man dressed up with a name badge that says "Director". Donald (somthing), Director. I'm assuming Director of Park Operations? I say I, your badge says 'Director' you can help me. I tell him my story and he walks me personally over to the Guest Relations booth to try and get it sorted out. The girl on the computer says we have only one open Cabana. WHAT? I told him there are a dozen empty ones but he gives me a few excuses as well. I say fine I'll take the "One". I go back over to the rental booth and tell the girl I'm the one from Guest Relations that called. I tell them about the empty Cabanas but they don't care. I fill out the paper work, pay for the cabana and a Cabana Host walks me over to what seems like the only Cabana that has no shade (#4). I ask what about the others? She says ok just choose one. I ask her about all the empty Cabanas and she says "Oh, I guess it's just the basic Cabana's that are sold out. We have plenty of 'Gold' level Cabanas.". WHAT? Are you kidding me? Pros: Free Admission Kids had a fun time Cabana food/drink service was great (those employees were friendly and attentive) Cons: Many employees and managers are clueless and don't care Dirty High prices for everything Dirty Bathrooms are worse than the public outhouses or porta potties Dirty Crowds and lines are ridiculous Dirty Oh, and did I mention how dirty everything was? read more

Let me start by saying if I didn't have the Magic Mountain Gold Pass, I never would've come here. Because I essentially got in for free I'd say it was worth it. Locker rentals are ridiculously expensive ($14), and if you want to do more than walk through moving water in the lazy river then you'll need to rent a blue tube (that's another $7 for a single, or $14 for a double). The rental tube also means you can bypass the line on many of the rides so it's probably worth the investment. My boyfriend and I arrived at open and got to skip the line at the gate because of our Gold Passes so we were in the park and riding rides by 10:40am. We managed to get on three within the first hour and then waded in the wave pool for another thirty minutes or so. Around 1:30pm the place got pretty jammed up, and we were hungry so we decided to leave rather than deal with the hoards of screaming kids and inattentive parents. This place has the same issues every public water park has: questionable cleanliness, bored lifeguards, overpriced everything, and lots of unsupervised children. read more

I just went to hurricane harbor today & saw all these negative comments about it. First of all, 80% of the things you guys said about this place is false! Okay, I can admit, the parking price was terrible. $20! But you should've expected that from a amusement park! They are never cheap! So it wasn't UNEXPECTED. I already saw it coming. The food wasn't that bad! It was decent. They aren't known for their food! They are known for their rides people! The price for the food wasn't reasonable, but honestly it's a water park and I am 125 pounds & a kids meal filled me up pretty well & anyways you shouldn't be eating a lot at a water park! You will get cramps & feel sick. The funnel cakes were so delicious! $9 for a regular one & $10 for the Ice cream. $5.50 for dippin dots! So delicious! My food was a kids meal chicken strips. Came with fries 4 peices of chicken, pudding cup, soda & fruit snacks! If you go on a weekday the line aren't that bad! The water was not YELLOW. It looked pretty clean. It wasn't warm, the water was COLD. But it gets warms obviously because you body gets used to the temperature. So that was a false statement from people. I was also able to transfer money to a waterproof wristband, so instead of carrying my wallet, I give my money to a cashier and they electronically transfer the money to the wrist band which was really cool & convenient! They didn't charge money to do this. I've been to hurricane harbor since I was 7-8 years old. Nothing has really changed & it was a really good place to go with friends and family. & I always had a good experience. Kids will really enjoy it 100%! Just get your wallet ready! Everyone that complains about the prices obviously don't yet realize that any amusement park, water park, fair, carnival & etc are always ALWAYS Over priced! And that's just the way things is! So save your money up to take your family on ANY trip! read more

Where do I even start? Okay, the weather wasn't cool there at all, it was over a 100 degree Fahrenheit (close to 40 degree C), but we expected that the park would compensate for our suffering. Sadly, not. The park is basically just 2 water rides, a tiny wave pool some slides for kids. We waited 2 hours for a ride which was less than a minute long. Also, the park is unkempt, there is trash lying all over, uggghhh! The park is probably ok for little kids, but I certainly do not recommend it otherwise, rather go to the adjacent six flags which is AMAZING! read more

Fun, if tame, water rides. Good weather almost always shines down on Hurricane Harbor. There's a lot o' kiddie slides here, but there's a few heart-stoppers for sure. By the afternoon I just chilled in the wave pool with my rented tube. The food's pretty much crap here, so pack a lunch and eat in the parking lot picnic area. Who should come: sun-worshipers who want a change of pace. Great place to see your date in less-than-usual clothes. Who should stay away: people who hate kids. We went twice this year. The first occasion was a flat 1 star because of the insane waiting times. We got to ride 4 rides during the whole day. If you go in the peak season, expect to wait in line for well over an hour for each ride. The second, this past weekend, was okay in that regard - I guess because it is off-season already. Overall the park was fun the second time, but here are some things that were disappointing to me: - Everything is insanely overpriced - food and merchandise. I had to buy a sunscreen, and the price I had to pay was $17. - During this September visit, some of the rides were fully or partly closed. Black Snake Summit, for example, closed down for hours occasionally. I understand that they are trying to cut costs, but it's still disappointing that you don't get what you pay for. - This is ridiculous: The pools that you slide into at some of the rides have a drain of some sort at the top of the exit stairs, such that there is a fairly large opening in between the top step of the stair and the ground. One of my flip flops fell into this opening. I took a look to see if I could reach after it. It fell into some water container where there were tens of other lost flip flops. When I asked, the employees said it was impossible to get it back. Seriously, I can't believe they never have to access it in order to clean it or empty it or fix something. Even if they had really made that container inaccessible in any way, all it takes to prevent this would be to put bars on those openings. I have a strong suspicion that this is a marketing scam on their part to give you one more reason to buy their overpriced stuff. Granted, it's not a major cost, but still upsetting. - They don't allow you to take food into the park. Not only is the food overpriced in the park, but there isn't even a decent restaurant in there. They seemed to be more strict about this in September than they were during our previous visit during the summer. This time we were not allowed to bring in fruits, which we had no problem with during the previous visit. read more

Fun theme park! I went for my first time this past weekend w/ my S.O. and I had So much fun. I was hesitant to go at first because I was hungover and thought the rides would shake me up and make me pollute the water with my barf, but thankfully that feeling passed. I never really considered going to Hurricane Harbor before because it seems small from the outside and I was afraid the lines for the rides would be treacherous. I was happy to find out that it wasn't that bad. The longest line I waited in was 40 minutes and it was for the raft ride, which was ummm,.... okaaay. Rides: The best ride there was the toilet bowl looking thing (two other people in line agreed too). I think it's called the Tornado. We rode that twice! My second favorite was the Venom Drop, which scared the sh*t out of me and gave me a hell of a painful wedgie and partial enema. HA!. I'm sure the employee at the end of the slide sees people with painful wedgies all day, but still, I was pretty embarrassed. The wave pool was fun... when we finally got to go in at the end of the day. It seemed like they were closing it every 15 minutes to do some routine safety maintenance. Admission: We brought a can of Coke and received a discount price of $19.99 per person. Not bad. Saves $8 from the usual admission price. The tube rental is $6 for a single and $14 for a double. Kinda pricey if you ask me, but oh well, we know these days everybody is trying to make a buck. Overall, I would come back again if I am too lazy to drive out to Raging Waters. I think all in all, it depends on the company you're with - if the company is right, then you can have fun anywhere! read more

After reading a few harsh reviews, I would have to agree on most of them, this place was not as great as I thought it would be. Here are my reasons: 1. This qualifies for the majority of my rating, "HORRIBLY LONG LINES!!!!" Seriously, 45 mins or more for 1 ride. I spent most of my day dry as a bone due to the lines. It's not fun being dry at a water park. They say they have their reasons for the long wait (safety issues I think) but c'mon, nobody should wait that long for a 5 second or less ride. I do have to say that most of the rides were good, which made one impatient having to wait in line to ride again. And by the way, a lot of the slides were closed, making the lines even longer, since sometimes there is one line for 3 different rides. Waiting for a tube on some rides is not pleasant either cuz it's a free-for-all; no order there and I wasn't going to pay for one to be lugging it around. A hint of advice, go on weekdays to avoid this. 2. The food was HORRIBLE and PRICEY. Once again I had to wait in a very long line for food. This wasn't really the park's fault, some people just couldn't decide on the 3 items that they could get. Anyways, after the long wait and after digging way deep into my wallet, I received the worst cheeseburger I have every eaten. Seriously, I have had school cafeteria food that was way better! 3. The water was cold all around. I have been to many water parks where the water was heated. This was not so at all here. My wife was not able to enjoy anything cuz she is very sensitive to the cold. Also in most parts the water was very dirty, definitely not a pleasant environment. 4. The Price. I already mentioned that the food was pricey, all that's left is the admittance and parking. So dang expensive and I don't think I got my money's worth. Overall, I gave it 2 stars but I do think this place deserves another chance, but only on the lines and cuz many rides were fun. I'm sure I would have had a better experience if I had gone on a weekday. The prices and food don't look like they will improve, but I'll give the lines another shot on a weekday. read more

Worst experience ever! Don't come here! Paid for $300 cabana & if one person isn't wearing a "wrist band" they make the BIGGEST deal,DRAMA! We have the supposedly cabana lead(supervisor) harassing us just because some of us weren't wearing it. She ruined our experience!!! Secondly, if we paid $300 for a cabana we better have at least some nice & clean seats NO all seats in the cabana are dirty almost looking black because of all the stains, ewwww!!!! NOTE: If you're male, make sure you remove the rivets from your swimsuit prior to arrival- something pretty much every pair of swim trunks have nowadays but they won't let you on the slides without them (and you most likely will find this out after waiting in line in the hot sun when you get to the top). They also will not help you remove them, will simply shrug their shoulders and you're on your own. I went to guest relations first and they were extremely unhelpful and finally I went to the souvenir shop and they lent me a pair of scissors. We arrived at opening and were able to ride almost anything we wanted for a couple of hours on a Sunday. Then the masses show up- mostly families with noisy kids. Arrive early for the best experience. The lazy river gets so packed in the afternoon it's almost like floating through a packed shopping mall with screaming kids splashing you in the face the whole way. I ordered a Roast Beef sandwich at the concession and noticed right away that the meat was spoiled and sent it back. I exchanged it for an overcooked cheeseburger instead. Tornado: Very fun- hit it early in the day. Only downside it carrying the heavy raft up the stairs. Bonsai pipes: Crazy fast drops, make sure you hold your breath or you'll end up coughing from the water. Taboo tower- fast slides similar to Bonsai, very fun. Tiki Falls, Blacksnake Summit tube slides: Fun and you can bypass the lines by renting tubes (definitely worth the $7) Reptile ridge: DONT RIDE THE TAN COLORED SIDE SLIDES. I am average height and weight and banged my ankles on the tight curves on both sides (left and right slides) I'm really surprised they let people ride these. I followed all the instructions for riding an ended up with bruises from these after. Wave pool: fun if you have tubes.. however they kick everyone out on a regular basis. Why I don't know. Been going to this place every summer and one thing I noticed is that its getting worst. Soda refill: why cant you assign someone to do refills all day? People are waiting in line just for refill and yes a very expensive refill ($17.95) Customer service: did you guys just fired all your staff and hired new ones just yesterday? While I had a good day at Hurricane Harbor, it was strictly due to the company (my wife and her brother and sister). The place itself left a LOT to be desired: 1) MASSIVE extra costs ($18 lockers, $12 hamburgers, $15 parking, $7 raft rental) on top of the (somewhat reasonable) entry price. 2) "Lazy River" should be renamed "Lazy Sewer". 3) Absolutely no staff interest in anything happening outside the rides (a Ghetto Fabulous couple was SCREAMING at each other and a poor little girl for a HALF HOUR in a food line, many staff members walked by, no security, no reaction, no nothing). 4) Not enough concession stands, too long lines, and marginal (at best) food. 5) The locker rental process, besides being too expensive, is ridiculously poorly managed: you have to wait in line for a half hour or more for a wristband to open the stupid locker. Uh, ever hear of kiosks, morons? 6) The bathrooms are horrific soul-killing Cambodian killing fields of urine and kids peeing on the floor. The only saving graces is that the wave pool is fun (but REALLY crowded on a hot weekend day), the one tall slide I went on was fun, and the water was relatively clean except for the Lazy Sewer. Can't recommend, although a weekday visit might go better. read more

I recently took my two little cousins here- a full day of having to supervise two kids at a water park is enough to dampen anyone's mood, but Hurricane Harbor does not exactly add enough fun to make the situation any better. I was going to give this place 3 stars, but as I looked over the stars, I read that 3 stars would mean "A-OK," and this is definitely not ok...it's more like "meh." While Hurricane Harbor is not a glorified outdoor toilet, it's really nothing to write home about. If you want to go to a water park, then try looking into something else. This is why: -this place needs some serious revamping. I came here when it first opened in '96, and again several days ago. Not much has changed-seriously. - there are not too many rides, and while a few of them are fun, it is not worth waiting an hour in line for. You're better off heading out for some real fun at the beach. -parking is $15. And for what? -$5 for a small locker, plus $3 refundable key deposit- and the locker room is dingy like in high school -the food is absolute trash...rubbery burgers and crappy pizza that tastes like it came out of the microwave. You are better off packing your own lunch. - rides do include inflatable tubes to ride on (when needed), but you have to wait until someone who's already gone on to pass one on to you...really inefficient and frankly, cheap of the six flags people. Hurricane Harbor is a really lame water park- Six Flags has not done enough to improve it over the years- it's just the same crap as when it first opened. At least Disneyland and some other parks do much to improve and add on what's already there- to at least keep visitors happy and amused. The Six Flags people are either really inefficient or really lazy...or just don't care. I mean, enough people are going to Hurricane Harbor anyway. You are better off either going to Magic Mountain or another amusement park- a day at the beach or a different water park. But not Hurricane Harbor. read more

I just spent ages reading all the negative reviews on here that Hurricane Harbor has, and I just wanna throw out there that I thought this place was wonderful! Yes, it very well could be because I'm Scottish and as you can imagine there are not very many (see: none) water parks, but I don't think that's the reason. I think I just genuinely had a really fun day. Maybe I caught them at a particularly good time, but despite the July heat/busyness, they managed to keep me and my cousins quite happy on this specific day; the ride queues didn't seem like much! I totally agree, and its the reason this isn't a 5* review, that it is horrifically overpriced, especially with the $17 for parking. Aside from that one qualm, I would 100% go back here, and intend to summer coming when I'm next in California! read more
