Mango Sticky Rice

We had a great evening at Thai Rock. Walked in on a Friday evening. Thai tea was great. Mussels were fantastic. Po Tak soup was also . Pad Ped THAIROCK (spicy seafood sautee) was also great, but frankly, a little weak for a 3-pepper dish. Overall a great spot.

Chicken Ka Pow
lisa w.

My mouth is on fire. The food is delicious. But the heat! We said that we like 'spicy' and they delivered! The tom yum soup with shrimp was complex and flavorful and the mushrooms were so FRESH! The chicken ka pow was also well seasoned and delicious. My partner tried the chicken satay and he said that he would get them again (good sign). The restaurant's vibe is chill and low key. You can have a conversation and the music is low enough to exist without being disruptive. The service is a little slow but we can close to closing time so that might have something to do with it. Overall great food. Well worth a visit.

Thai iced tea

Everything was so good here with taste and portions. Staff were nice, even when we came late. The interior in this spot is quite lovely too. They presented all the items nicely, even my Thai ice tea. The food was filling and great! I particularly love the sauce here; I asked for more!

Chicken pad Thai

Pad Thai could be saucier but had a lot of flavor. Medium spice had a nice amount of heat. Perfect for me. Chicken wasn't dry like most places. It was soft. Will definitely order again.

Green curry, Duck roti. Both delicious!

I live around the area and had driven past here so many times. I finally tired it!! The restaurant is located at the Montrose Crossing shopping center next to Marshall's. Parking is ample, area is well lit and friendly. This was my first time and I couldn't stay, so I ordered take out. The restaurant itself is very cute! Well lit and nicely decorated. I walked in and went straight to the counter. The person behind the counter was very friendly. Greeted me with a smile and asked if I came to pick up an order. I took my order and went home to try! Food was yummy!!! I ordered the green curry and the duck roti. Everything was well packaged, and perfect temperature. Food was delicious! It had great flavor, perfect spice and an adequate amount (I even had left overs). Overall very happy and would like to go back to dine in!

Pad see ew, tom kha gai, green curry with chicken

Great! I got three items for delivery (through Uber Eats), and they were all fantastic! Green curry with chicken, tom kha gai, and pad see ew with chicken. All tasted great - full of flavor. Held up great as leftovers, too. Would definitely order from again.

Boat Noodle Soup

Hands down the best Thai restaurant in the area! I go there regularly and get the boat noodle soup. I've been to multiple Thai restaurants in in Rockville/Bethesda/Potomac but this one tastes very authentic. Some of my other favorites here include: Ka nom jeeb and the crying tiger salad. Service is very fast and orders always come out correctly. They make sure you are comfortable with the spice level prior to ordering. I usually get 1-2 pepper levespice as my tolerance for spicy food is low. Shalom is a great bartender and the manager, Chu, is very friendly and always greets me with a smile. The ambiance is classy and the restaurant is very clean.. I mostly go there by myself. My parents love this place too and they were never big Thai food fans until they ate here. Highly recommended!

Tamarind shrimp. So good!

Big plates big services, family style. Parking garage next to the restaurant or parking lot right across with the other stores. Very nice inside, priced well for the food. Delicious Thai food! Nothing too much to say about it. The pictures can speak for themselves about how nice it's presented and how delicious this place is.

Lovely place, it was spacious and beautifully decorated. Thai restaurants have been upping their game on the aesthetic department. Food was big in servings, they have good amount on the plates. It is pricier than your average thai eatery but of course it comes with it when its actual ambience is a bit upscale. We went here on a sunday afternoon, I had the crispy pork belly with white rice. It was delicious and all my friends and cousins had great food as well. See photos! The service was great. They are always asking us if everything was good. It was in the middle of the afternoon that's why it was a bit empty but i liked that. We were able to mingle and have fun together. Overall a great place to eat and unwind a bit

Drunken Noodles
Juanita Q.

Came here last weekend. Wanted to try this place based on the great reviews and since the place resembles a cave from the outside. It was also really nice inside. Ordered the Drunken Noodles, which was good but I've had much better at other local restaurants. My daughter ordered the Satay Chicken skewers, which didn't come out with my dish. Needless to say, she did not like the seasoning at all. I told the waitress, and she didn't even attempt to care, nor offer a slight discount, since I had to order her the Fried Ribs (which were cut into small pieces with the bones). She didn't love this either but ate some of it with white rice. I personally thought the ribs were good. No kid friendly options available. The waitress was neither friendly, nor unfriendly. And it took a while for us to get the later order in, even after we told her we would be ordering something else. Anyway, not sure if I'll be back.

2.21.25 This restaurant replaced the former Tara Thai in Montrose Crossing. The food is delicious and likely the best that I've had in recent months. I highly recommend the duck roti, Moo Ping (pork skewers), and taro custard. During the holidays, I had the duck roti at another Thai restaurant, which I found to be disappointing. Today, I was impressed because the duck roti tasted fresh and wasn't dry like at the other restaurant. The sticky rice for the Moo Ping and taro custard were tender and chewy. The pork skewers were succulent. The service was friendly, and the food came out fast. This may just be one of my new favorite Thai restaurants in Montgomery County. I can't wait to return to try other menu items. I highly recommend it.

Maitai, mango mojito, lychee

The old Tara Thai restaurant at Montrose Crossing revamped to a new Thai place! Been waiting to try this place and decided to go with a group of my gym buddies, 9 of us. The decor was bright and inviting and it was decently crowded on a Friday night, but oddly the early crowd was very quiet. We stayed about 4 hours until close drinking and chatting and they didn't bother us. It got a little more lively later in the night, but they definitely needed to turn up the music to set the vibe, especially on a Friday night if they want the bar to fill. Their drinks were pretty and good as well. 4 star for ambiance. Service was great the first half, everything came out fast and piping hot. But then a couple in our group came late and one order wasn't put in and another took a while to come. 3.5 star for service. Food was good, pretty standard, but we didn't really order from their "ThaiRock Street Food (Signature)" menu either. I took a bite of everyone's food and their fried rice had a good "wok" taste. I love when they put the pineapple fried rice in the shell, then you know they're fresh pineapples! Crab fried rice and Pad Thai was surprisingly spicy or maybe that's just how my friends ordered them! Chicken satay had a nice sweetness to the flavor, and the curry puff and spring rolls were fried nicely. Mango sticky rice was chopped up a bit thick and it was purple rice, but the portion was a bit small. Overall 4 star for food.

The food is delicious. And the secret is out because the place was packed with people and there were people waiting outside the door. So, you know that the food is good. Tonight, we ordered beef pad see ew. That is my son's favorite and he really enjoyed it. It was really tasty and full of flavor. We also ordered shrimp fried rice and that was delicious. The jumbo shrimp make this dish a real winner. We ordered grilled pork skewers for my grandson and they were tender and full of flavor. I always order my mango sticky rice. I forgot to take a picture. It was a great dessert. It took a little longer to get our meal, but service was excellent. We really liked each of our dishes. In Thai when you want to say thank you, you say Ca Cun! So, ca cun Kiin Imm Thai! See you soon!

Their drunken noodles are also somewhat superior to other drunken noodles. I'm not a big fan of pork belly but my husband is and he likes it. But even his favorite was the Thai boat noodle. Service was also pretty decent. Parking was easy since it's in a plaza there's a lot of parking options (free). But the reason for lower stars is just being way too hot in the restaurant. Not sure if their AC is broken or they can't turn the AC down anymore... or they're replicating the tropical temps of Thailand... it was uncomfortable eating in the heat. They had a fan that they turned toward us but it was still really hot and my husband kept wiping his sweat off his head and I was also sweating. I still like their food, but might think about takeout vs eating in next time.

I noticed that some of the tables have been changed from square to rectangular, making the dining room feel more open and spacious. Each table is now decorated with a small lamp, and artwork adorns the walls--simple updates that add warmth and enliven the ambiance. Another noticeable change is the packaging for the entrée I ordered. It has been updated from a square container to a rice bowl, which I much prefer. The previous packaging reminded me of a school cafeteria, while the new presentation feels more appealing. During my last visit, they also offered lunch specials, which no longer appear to be available. That was a bit disappointing, although it may have been a promotion when they first opened. Their menu is somewhat atypical for a local Thai restaurant, with offerings such as tacos, burgers, and sandwiches. I was in the mood for my usual favorites--Pad Thai and Pad See Ew--but neither is on the menu. I ordered a Thai iced tea and the Kao Mun Gai Tod. The iced tea was good, but I would have preferred a bolder tea flavor. It seemed a bit diluted, possibly from too much ice. The chicken, however, was crispy and flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly--tender rather than dry or chewy. Our server was attentive throughout the meal. She checked on us regularly and promptly cleared our table, providing excellent service.

Bonus points for being directly across from a parking garage, which currently offers the first 90 minutes free! This is a great spot to take friends or on a fun date night. We chose to sit outside on the cute multicolored chairs and loved the view of the park next door. The patterned plates and mason jar-style cups were such a cute touch to make the whole experience feel cozy and homey. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and even the same attention to detail to decor and ambience was applied in there. The service was great -- our server was attentive and helpful, and there was a busser on standby quick to clear empty plates so we always had plenty of table space. We felt checked on the perfect amount throughout the meal, and the appetizer came out before the entrees -- as it should! Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious.
