The young lady at DFW was the best professional rental car agent I ever experienced. she will be the reason I am a repeat customer

I rented cars dozens of times from the bigger rental companies. My coworker said hey you should try Sixt. I decide to give them a try. I did provide a five star review previously, until I got a follow-up email from Sixt a couple days after I returned the car. They claimed that they found a scratch on the roof of my Rav4 rental. This is total BS and now they are trying to charge me almost $500 for a "scratch repair". I literally drove the car from studio City to Las Vegas and parked the car for my entire stay. I parked it at a secure covered garage the entire time. I drove the car back home and returned the vehicle back to Sixt. There is no way a scratch could appear on the roof considering we did not load any type of luggage onto the roof. This place is a total scam and was too good to be true. Who knows how many other people they have scammed. I was going to do another rental in 2 weeks and now they will no longer receive any further business from me or anyone I know, because I will be telling everybody about the shady company. My advice to not rent from this place. Stick with the big rental companies they don't try to pull this BS. read more

SIXT needs to be upfront about all fees and holds before customers complete an online reservation. When I rented with SIXT in 2019, I was surprised at the counter with a $1,000 hold that was not made clear during the booking process. A hold of that size can create a real hardship for customers who are not expecting it. Thankfully, I had a credit card with a high enough limit, but not everyone does. Important charges and authorization holds should be clearly disclosed before a customer commits to the reservation--not when they arrive to pick up the vehicle. Because of that experience, I chose not to use SIXT again. I hope the company has improved its transparency since then, but my experience left a lasting negative impression. read more

The mechanic pulls up in front of our gate blocking cars in and will sometimes get rude when you ask them to move. It's inconsiderate to the people who LIVE here. I will say, however, the low ethics and standards of customer service (separate from the branch) is a horrible experience and not up to par with the standards of the Sixt branches. When I returned my car, there were two scratches--both less than an inch long and 1/32 high. The guy who did the intake felt sure there would be no charge: the next day I got a bill for $534. They gave me an old car that had tire pressure issues and then when I was returning it, they found some imaginary tiny scratches I was somehow responsible for when I know I didn't scratch the car. They took my money when I reserved the car online (for a brief road trip), then when I showed up to pick it uo, they wouldn't let me get it without a "train itinerary", whatever that is! If you're considering renting from Sixt, stay away! The experience was frustrating, stressful, and ultimately cost me a ridiculous amount of money for a car rental I didn't even have. I will never rent from them again and strongly urge others to avoid this company! I rented a car here in late July and have had a nightmare experience from start to finish. First, the customer service at the front desk was absolutely terrible which set the tone for the rest of my rental experience and should have been my initial sign to go elsewhere. I rented on July 28th for a 7-day rental and ended up in an accident on August 2nd, 12 hours away from Los Angeles. When I called Sixt for help, they told me it would take 7-8 hours for a tow truck to arrive, which was completely unrealistic since my family and I were stranded on the side of the road. The other option I was given was to leave the car where the accident occurred and drop off the keys at their nearest kiosk, which was in San Francisco. So, I rented from good ol' reliable Hertz and detoured over to SF from Eureka, CA. After the incident, I received an email confirming the car was picked up and submitted an incident report via their website. At this point, I was just waiting to hear back on an update whether it be on the car repairs or anything for that matter. However, I got a call almost a month later from a third-party investigator (employed by Sixt) saying the car was missing! Sixt never bothered to contact me about any issues, and when I called their customer service, they had no information on what was happening. To make matters worse, I have been charged a staggering $5,418.46 for a rental that was supposed to last 7 days. They charged me for a 2 month rental without any explanation, despite me taking all their necessary measures and submitting all the necessary reports. My credit card company also mentioned to me that they have been trying to run my card for all sorts of numbers. The complete lack of communication and outrageous charge is beyond unacceptable. WARNING!! DO NOT BOOK WITH SIXT. UNRESPONSIVE AND UNREASONABLE customer service. I rented a car for 6 days with my air flight reservation on Expedia for an additional $356. On the day of the flight, I could not find me Real ID so I couldn't fly. I sent Sixt an email cancelling the reservation, and I also called Expedia. Expedia contacted Sixt but was not able to speak with anyone and only able to send an email contact form that they would get back to them in about 3 days. After that time, they informed Expedia that they would not refund any money. They had the car available and I'm sure rented by someone else. Stay away! I get there to rent my car using a debit card asked me for a utility bill and I said I can give them a cable bill in my name and she said they don't accept cable bills. I check the website clearly says cable as a utility accepted so I call customer service and they're bewildered to why they would refuse me my rental. My recent rental had only 1/8 of a tank left. Given the $11.99/gallon fee and a 22 gallon tank, returning it with the same fuel level would have resulted in a fuel charge that was more than the cost of the rental. This feels like double dipping on fees and strikes me as unfair. * Because the rental cars are "premium" (BMW), they take premium gas. * Car wasn't clean-clean but not filthy either. Lots for me to say here, but if you only want the thumbnail here it is: If you don't want to risk ruining your vacation, I and many others on Yelp, suggest you rent elsewhere. Stay away from this lying scam company. Here's the rest, if you're curious: LIE #1 We prepaid for a car in full on Hotwire and were given Sixt car rental in Studio City. When we got there, the rental agent said he'd been trying to call me to tell me there were no cars. That's lie #1. Trying to call me? I only have one phone number and no one called me. I asked him what number he used to call me and he looked blankly at his monitor and said nothing, as if he was trying to find the number. LIE # 2 You have no cars? Well why not? "Five cars came back and all five of them were damaged." "Really? All your cars came back damaged?" Those are some incredible odds, which is why I think that's lie #2. He later blamed Sixt's algorithm which doesn't properly allow for people extending their car rentals. Well, which is it? First he told me all five cars came back damaged and now he's saying they extended their rentals. LIE #3 I asked to speak to a district manager on the phone. "You can't. There's no one to call directly. You can only call our 888 number." But minutes later, he was on his cell to his district manager. (The DM was also useless.) EVEN THE RENTAL AGENT COULDN'T REACH SIXT CUSTOMER SERVICE "What about another location?" "You'd have to call Hotwire and have them transfer it over." "Why do *I* have to do this? You're the one who messed up. Can't *you* call the other location?" "No." I call the Sixt 888 number three times, each time trying different options on their circular maze of a menu, designed to confound and to not connect you to a human. Each call ended with a recorded "thank you!" and the call disconnects. Twelve more wasted minutes. I asked the rental agent to tell me which numbers to press and put it on speakerphone. Guess what? They hung up on the rental agent, too. The agent couldn't get through to his own company. CUSTOMER SERVICE HUNG UP ON ME After a few more attempts at unlocking the menu code, it finally rang through, but it took them 22 minutes to answer. The woman was just as useless and when I told her it was unacceptable not to have a prepaid car waiting, she said, "Have a nice day" and hung up on me. My jaw dropped. So did the couple's who was there waiting for a ride, listening to this entire event. But most importantly, so did the rental agent's. YOU CAN'T CALL SIXT LOCATIONS DIRECTLY I called Hotwire who put me on hold while they called Sixt, but they too couldn't reach them. Hotwire asked me for the phone number of the location, and when I asked the rental agent, he said they don't have a phone to call in on. That's right, you cannot call a Sixt location directly. THEY HAVE NO HOME OFFICE IN THE US, OR SO THE RENTAL AGENT SAID Before I left I asked the rental agent for Sixt's home office address so I can sue them. He told me they don't have one, they only have a P.O. Box in Florida. In the course of the 75 minutes there I also learned from the rental agent that Sixt is headquartered in Germany, their website is from the mideast, and their call center is in the Philippines. SCAM ALERT So many bad reviews on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau, many having to do with being scammed about damage to your car upon return that didn't really happen (maybe that's why all five cars came back "damaged")/ There are cases where people took pictures of their rental before they left and upon return, only to get zapped with "Damaged Car" claims weeks later. They are also known to add insurance on the your vehicle even if you opt out of it. If you read all this and are still considering using them, I urge you to check the BBB site directly. And beware: if you use the Hot Rate feature on Hotwire, you may get Sixt. So maybe don't use Hotwire...just to protect yourself. read more

Stephen was insanely amazing he was so nice they didn't have any cars for what I booked which was a med car, he said it happens a lot they over book threw the main company. Again that's not these peoples fault, I saw a guy get upset with one of the girls in their todsy I couldn't believe how rude people can be, look this is peoples lively hood and people just bash one another, not sure if you heard what is going on over seas but boy do some people have it worse then us So he asked if I wanted a mini van I was like ummmmm not really anything else he got me the bmw suv which is beautiful and amazing and so much better then any other rental company!!!! Jonathan is literally one of the most accommodating people I have ever met and the manager Harsh- it doesn't get better than him. He has his eyes on everything, takes pride in making customers happy- seriously top notch. Sixt is lucky to have him. Even when it's super busy in there, they make sure each customer is properly taken care of. The service is next level. Hertz, Budget and all the others have something to learn from this company.. This is a review for Sixt car rental in Malaga, Spain. The car I received in the Malaga Airport while vacationing with family had water and oil leaks. We were too far from any of their offices so we could not return it. They sent a local mechanic that said the only solution was to stop every so often to refill on water and oil. Ruined our family vacation. They refused to credit us for anything, and to make it worse they said we scratched the car in an area that was clearly scratched already. They charged us an additional 220 euros after we were back home. Terrible customer service and terrible cars. Stay away. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

Accidentally double booked myself with another company and he and the team stayed patient while I ensured my other reservation was cancelled so I could go with Sixt, instead. He and the team were friendly and patient. Went above and beyond to ensure we got A+ service and a fantastic car. Cannot thank the staff enough! I booked a car through Priceline with Sixt. My husband's plans changed, so we needed to cancel. Sixt would not comply with my request no matter what I did. I spent four hours trying to get a refund. Priceline tried to help, but ultimately, I had to get on a call with both businesses and let Priceline argue for me. Finally, they convinced Sixt to cancel the reservation and refund our money, as was promised in the rental terms. It very honestly seems like a scam. It was a maddening experience. I cannot phrase my warning strong enough. It's not worth the headache, hassle, or frustration. Avoid this business!!! read more

Ended up making a prepaid reservation online weeks prior to the day I needed the rental. A day or two after making the reservation I had to cancel, and was made aware of a $100 cancelation fee. I called the branch and the customer service line both of which informing me to email requesting the fee be waived. After sending an email I received a response stating to ensure consistency based on sound business practices. Although I have no issue with the branch itself, the business practices is unsound and greedy in every sense of the word. I don't recommend using this rental agency if your itinerary is subject to change. read more

Don't rent from these guys they scam people who don't pay for insurance. We rented from them. We returned the car where it was inspected by their employee. No damage or issues found. A day later I get an email saying there was damage to one of the rims and they are charging me for it. Also, I've had some really bad experiences with the condition and cleanliness of vehicles at other vendors (*cough* Avis!), but Sixt's vehicles are kept in beautiful condition. I had a prepaid car rental and tried to reach them all day at their direct line to ensure they will have car before I arrive there. When I got there I told the manager the phones just rang and he said that just the way the phones are. And I said there should be a solution or at least "we will look into it" and manager interrupted me and walked off. As a manager you're suppose de-escalate not escalate & him walking off was not professional and told him he was unprofessional and i was still talking. I have no idea where to even start with this review. I will keep it brief. We rented a car under the SIXT+ subscription service. We turned up for the car and they had changed the delivery date to a later day via email (still showed the original date in the app). We had to come back the next day, the car we rented was not in the lot. They then upgraded us and gave us a bigger car (that we didn't want). They said we'd be charged the normal rate. When they payment date came around they billed us an extra $350 for the upgrade BUT they never charged my card. I called three to four times a week to try and get them to charge my card and for the payment to be resolved, the call center (which is not English speaking) said someone would call us back they never did. Anyway after 2 months of this they had someone come and remove the car from us, within the car was about $3500 of work equipment including computers and hard-drives. We can't get in touch with anyone about where our possessions are and of course they NOW have charged my card (for about $1000 more than we should have paid). Avoid this scammy company who I believe don't charge you on time so they can charge higher fees when you return the car. Right now it appears they stole our personal items so we'll be filing a claim with the county court tomorrow. I will update with how that goes here. read more

My first rental experience with Sixt was horrible. I was given a car that was not checked for oil and there was no oil in the car. The oil supply light came on and I wasn't able to drive the vehicle. I ended up being stuck in Temecula for 3 hours while I got the car an oil change which I paid for myself. However, the mechanics at Jiffy Lube couldn't guarantee the oil change would fix the "oil supply low" warning. I was concerned about driving this car two hours back to LA so I called customer service. The solutions offered by customer service were highly unreasonable remedies and kept implying that the oil problem was not "pre-existing. I would have to wait for a tow truck to come from Los Angeles (2 hours away) and ride back to LA in the tow truck. OR I could get a Lyft back to LA. With either solution, the customer service made sure to repeat to me over and over again that if they determined the solution was "unwarranted" or I caused the car to have no oil (???), then I would receive a bill for the additional charges. I chose to just to the oil change and drive the car back. I arrived back in LA at 5 pm too late to turn in my car. When I returned it the next morning the manager offered me a 12% discount (a whopping $22.00) for my "inconvenience" and submitted my receipts for the oil change. The manager told me that the card I used to secure the vehicle (which was my corporate card) would be used to issue the refund. I was told at the time of rental I could change the payment method but could use this card for the "hold" only. I explained to him I had used a different card than what was on file to pre-pay for the vehicle and pay for the oil change, not my corporate card. He insisted on putting my refund on the corporate card and told me to get my job to re-pay me. Why you would refund on a card that it was not charged on doesn't make sense and won't make sense to my employer. He refused to change the payment method for the refund. So now I will probably not be able to get reimbursed by my employer because their wont is an original charge for them to reconcile the refund. After all, it didn't occur on this card. He told me to call customer service to see if I can receive the refund in the form of a check and the girl I spoke to (Octavia I think) also refused; telling me the refund was already issued and hung up on me. This was the worst mistake of my life dealing with Sixt. I won't be able to recover the 87 dollars I spent on the oil change, your customer service is horrible. Maybe this is how you treat people in Europe, but your US reviews are terrible, I should have researched before renting with your company. I will make every effort to let everyone know what a terribly unprofessional company you are as a whole. read more
